@mietze OH MAN THIS ABSENCE OF PHO BROTH IS A TRAGEDY.

Initially read as 'pho breath' and haven't stopped giggling for five minutes. XD

@arkandel I'm not ever 'bulking', but I do like using a good brown or wild rice with my chicken breasts. My son is on a jasmine rice kick.

@arkandel I can't do mixed veggies frozen. All vegetables do not cook to proper consistency in the same time frame. So you could do a mix of brocc and green beans, the brocc is nice and steamed, has some body to the bite... and the green bean is wilty and mushy. Even peas and corn niblets don't cook at the same rate. And don't get me started on cooked carrots. They somehow never manage to taste like CARROTS.

    • RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)

@insomniac7809 I feel your pain. I haven't been able to START meds even with a diagnosis because my health insurance keeps going back and forth on what and how much will be covered and if they need me to undergo FURTHER diagnosis by ANOTHER doctor before they will agree that I actually have ADD, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. So... yay.

@arkandel Agreeeed. Especially with the dressings. A lot of the dressings that come with bagged salads are just crammed with empty calories and sugar. So I tend to discard them and use my own. But now the calorie count for the salad is off because the dressing is counted into the portion sizes.

God help you if you do something like Hello Fresh but want to substitute some of the items. My son and I aren't a fan of cooked peppers, so I tend to swap them out for like.. snow peas or zucchini. But now I've changed the breakdown, so I can't tell what the increased carbs or sugars are.

@arkandel Dude, welcome to the fight. I've been struggling with weight issues for almost 30 years. Trying to find something that's TRULY 'low carb' without being replaced by empty sugars is like pulling teeth. And now they're getting dodgy with the 'keto-friendly' label too! I've been trying to find brands that are straight forward and simple with their ingredients and just stick to those... which means buying in bulk more often than not, since they go out of stock so quickly.

    • RE: Dead Celebrities 2021 Edition

FUCK! I loved Dean Stockwell.... he was in so much of my life... Yeah, sure, Quantum Leap but like... he was in The Dunwich Horror (BOTH of them). The Twilight Zone (all THREE runs). Alfred Hitchcock Presents. DUNE. Yeah. Motherfucking DUNE. To Live and Die in LA, Beverly Hills Cop 2, Murder She Wrote. McHale's Navy! BSG.

BTW, he voiced Duke Nukem in Captain Planet, too. This man had roles in so many shows. He was not given nearly enough credit for all the appearances he made all over the place. All the movies he was in. This one hurts.

Pretty sure it'll just pave the way to players asking staff, "If I pay extra can you GM me becoming a mushroom mage, controlling all fungi" or something.

What if I just want to be able to travel along root paths? You know, become one with The Green? 😄

    • RE: Recipes and Shit

So. I am spoiled. Years back, my mom spent like 2K on this SUPER awesome set of cookware. It included a slow cooker that is basically a giant stock pot with its own separate heating element. When I moved away four years ago, she gifted it to me. It is one of my favorite pieces of kitchen equipment. She is also responsible for my Instant Pot and my air fryer. In short, my mom rules.

So yes. Please. Share ALL recipes. Slow cooker. Instant Pot. Oven. Grill. Air Fryer. ALL OF THEM. I love food and I want more things to try out!

@macha Share the slow cooker goodness! I make my chili in a slow cooker, and many of my recipes are one-pot-shots for my Instant Pot!

I don't have a homemade blend that I use, but I rub my ribs with Twisted Q's Wicked Sweet Bourbon seasoning blend, wrap the whole thing in aluminum foil, then toss the rack into the oven for 4 hours at 275 degrees. Pull the ribs. Flip the oven to broiler setting. Drain the juices, lay down a fresh layer of foil, toss the old. Sauce up your ribs and throw them under the broiler for 5-7 minutes uncovered. Pull and let rest for another 5-7 minutes. Pull apart and serve (they really do pull apart at this point).

@ominous There was a comic that said he wanted a movie where Daniel Radcliffe was the villain. Like, actual Daniel Radcliffe. But played by Elijah Wood. And that Elijah Wood was the minion, but played by Daniel Radcliffe.
