RE: Wheel of Time MU(SH|X)
Probably a 3 lowest, 5 highest.. though I wouldn't call nWoD simple by any means. Its probably more of a 7 or 8.

RE: Wheel of Time
I had had a similar idea but just haven't had time to loop back to it yet (https://musoapbox.net/topic/1771/wheel-of-time-mu-sh-x?page=1). There's lots of good discussion in there if you haven't read it yet.
system wise I am curious to see what Spirit Lake does with their magic system in FS3 as at cursory look it seems like it could be adapted to channeling pretty well.
Setting wise you need to ask yourself what the setting is defined as for you. Book 1 is a different setting than book 3 which is differrnt than book 10. Ariel, SeanchN, Asha'man, dreadlords, power level of channelers, all these are affected by timeline choice.

RE: Book Recommendations
I'm almost done Oathbringer and that makes me sad. It will be 3 years until the next Stormlight book is out
And I still bet the next one will be out before Rothfuss' book.

RE: The Wheel of Time
Is this what sports fans feel like watching their teams play when they just don't perform like they could?
Even if you the seasons are terrible I am still going to watch them. I'm invested in the material and want to support it. I'll just be angry about it.
Really really hoping season 2 gets more money/time so maybe some of the issues can be fixed but I've a feeling it will just dig in more.

RE: Wheel of Time MU(SH|X)
My goals for a system to use are:
Easy to understand
Enough options to make character customization possible and interesting
Freely available. No one has to buy anything to get it.
More narrative in focus.I am leaning towards a (maybe heavily) modified FS3 at the moment. Folks are pretty familiar with it and with AresMUSH most of the heavy lifting is done.
Still trying to decide on setting time and place.

RE: Wheel of Time
Yeah, that's a design choice but "known weaves" like fireball, firebar, rolling rings, healing, shielding, etc are pretty much a direct sub in for "known spells"

RE: Comfort Food...
Its weird how the little details can shift depending on where you are. I live close to the Quebec border in the US and have never heard of mushroom gravy with poutine. It's almost always turkey, occasionally beef.

RE: Wheel of Time MU(SH|X)
Yeah, it's part of the setting. As mentioned before, it isn't balanced.

RE: A fully OC supers MU
I've seen DFRPG (based on Fate for those not familiar) be basically one-for-one swapped in for an OC super table top game without issue. The power sets already in place can describe just about any super power set out there and with OCs you don't have the problem of "but this FC is the best!"

RE: Comfort Food...
@chime said in Comfort Food...:
@auspice Right! But you see in the US 'gravy' usually means that horrifying thing grandmothers make with turkey
droppingsdrippings or something at Thanksgiving and Christmas.you must have had some terrible gravy growing up. I pity you, truly.
but that isn't a US thing.. by definition gravy is made from the juicy remnants in the pot after cooking meat. Anything else is just some sort of gravy-like sauce.

RE: POLL: Super Hero MU Gut Check
Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I'm getting the feeling that Tempest doesn't like OCs.

RE: Old Republic Star Wars Game - FFG System Poll
I think your answer is yes.

RE: Random links
I had read a couple of reviews for the movie and it seemed like the critics weren't even critiquing the movie, but had just read a synopsis of it and stated that they weren't interested in the theme. The movie certainly wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either. Had I paid to go see it in a theater I wouldn't have felt robbed and am looking forward to see what they do as a sequel.

RE: Potential Game / Temperature Read
I kept reading Neitherlands as Netherlands and could not figure out why you were so stuck including the Dutch, as awesome a people as they are.
WoD 2.0 is way way to complex/crunchy I think for what Auspice might be looking for. the "quick guide" for casting a spell is multiple pages long.

RE: Legends of the Old Republic - In Progress Star Wars Game
Speaking of modifying Ares! How's this going?

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
Most of the scam calls don't even come out of the US anymore. They're just spoofing numbers to make it look like it. they don't care about a do not call registry because it's law doesn't apply to them and they're already trying to steal your money.
My boss has said his new response to scam calls isnto just pretend to be on drugs and tell them he is too high to deal with them right now. Their befuddled responses are rather humorous apparently

RE: Potential Game / Temperature Read
For me 4 people at an event/plot would be a success and probably as big as I want to go, but I loathe larger scenes.
Ownership of their own fun is a big thing. Letting players have a stake in the game, make plots that actually change things, take a life of their own beyond when the event ends, etc. What I've seen as the biggest hurdle to this is making it an onerous process for players to actually run a plot. Making the approval process to run it a bunch of busy work, bureaucracy. People are lazy and want to have fun, not input text into jobs.
I see the Magicians setting as the most likely to allow this as you have explained it

RE: Theme feedback
Personally, I don't even know what dieselpunk is. I'd never really seen the term until your game and Savage Skies started using it.
I know steampunk is boots with cogs and watch faces on it.. does everyone drive a VW or something in dieselpunk?
And I think anything too time specific is going to be hard. "Medieval" is a broad range. 1930s? That's pretty narrow and a ways back. At least 1980s you can say that is basically modern but without so many computers, the internet and cellphones
