RE: Good TV
I've only looked at it briefly but isn't Cybersphere basically Altered Carbon as well?

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
We never had delays growing up. Ever.
Now after a couple of deaths from students getting to school on snowy days and changing laws that require students attend school X number of days a year it's better to call a delay/schedule early dismissal than outright cancel.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
Most of the scam calls don't even come out of the US anymore. They're just spoofing numbers to make it look like it. they don't care about a do not call registry because it's law doesn't apply to them and they're already trying to steal your money.
My boss has said his new response to scam calls isnto just pretend to be on drugs and tell them he is too high to deal with them right now. Their befuddled responses are rather humorous apparently

RE: The Eighth Sea - Here There Be Monsters
as an aside, but speaking of grids and flex rooms.. I could not get the scene room system thing to work for the life of me. I don't know if it was a client issue or what, but I could create a scene, but was never able to join it afterwards.. so I just stopped trying to use the system instead of going through teh hassle of figuring it out/getting help

I've never gotten a character right in my head until I played him in at least 5-6 scenes with different people. It just takes me that long to stretch him out, see what makes him tick and experiment with different voices until one just feels like him.
This is why i hate writing backgrounds more than a couple sentences long. I don't know how they are, how they were shaped, until I get a chance to play them a bit

RE: The Eighth Sea - Here There Be Monsters
My problem was that no one was around to RP with when I could RP most of the time and all the events were scheduled for times I wasn't able to get to so I never really got a feel for what the game was intended to be about. Aside from bar RP about future food/supply scarcity wasn't sure what do to with myself

Didn't one of the Amber games have programmed objects that were essentially 'plots in a box' that people could take and run with without a dedicated GM? I never played there, but I remember hearing about it, and thinking just how fantastic that sounded. While there's a fair amount of front-loaded work, that work is something that people can do on their own time, and then players can just meet up whenever for it.
Road to Amber has Packets and Quests that are essentially this. Multipart plot lines/ideas that you need to RP out with other people.

RE: Social Systems
@arkandel I agree... but why I like things affecting NPCs instead of PCs. There was a whole thread on this not that long ago that we don't need to rehash.
@ZombieGenesis There's a line there between what is reasonable and what isn't,but how do you draw the line? The drowning kitten example should be a fringe, edge case, but in games where these sorts of social system are in place it isn't that rare for people to try to use their Rolls to over come your Role.
