To each their own. I would much rather play on a 2E game with mage than with werewolf, though agree that in a multi sphere game Mage would need some sort of limiting factor (gnosis 3 or max 4 in arcaca or some such thing).

But I also really dislike everything about werewolf expect the were and the wolf.

The fashion system very likely would have nothing to do with the desc of the item too.. fancy descing not required if I'm reading what Apos has in mind correctly. If it's automated and just based on wearing the stuff? only takes a minute to craft a colorless "a seasilk dress" or "an umbra union suit with duskstone flap buttons". Just make the desc the same and call it good.

    • RE: Table-top gadgets

$150 for that table is so misleading..

Another solution to the phone at the table issue.. have everyone that doesn't need the phone for a valid reason put theirs in a pile, face down, on the table. First one to pick theirs up pays for the pizza/booze/whatever.

What was Darkwater? I'm guessing it doesn't refer to the 90s cartoon.

@auspice Right! But you see in the US 'gravy' usually means that horrifying thing grandmothers make with turkey droppings drippings or something at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

you must have had some terrible gravy growing up. I pity you, truly.

but that isn't a US thing.. by definition gravy is made from the juicy remnants in the pot after cooking meat. Anything else is just some sort of gravy-like sauce.

Its weird how the little details can shift depending on where you are. I live close to the Quebec border in the US and have never heard of mushroom gravy with poutine. It's almost always turkey, occasionally beef.

I have heard 5E is really pretty good, but have yet to look at it or play it. I should try and fix that. Call it my resolution for the year

    • RE: The Death Of Telnet: Is It Time To Face The Music?

@three-eyed-crow it really depends on the client. I use MUDRammer for 95% of my MU time and it really isn't too painful once you accept that scrolling spam sucks big time. I limit scene size, avoid people that do novels for poses or expect them and in general it works out pretty good

    • RE: The limits of IC/OOC responsibility

Everything Mietze said. Being a great leader does not mean you're a great RPer and vice versa.

Part of the OOC responsibility of taking on IC leadership is recognizing your limitations and wants out of a position and not taking it if you aren't able to meet its requirements.

Though it actually reminds me of a game when a great RPer took on a position of leadership just to be a terrible leader. It was actually pretty fun and awesome all around. They OOCly knew they were a terrible leader and inept as a ruler.. and ICly blissfully unaware of their incompetence. We had to scramble to fix the problems they created and worked to depose them for the good of the kingdom.

There is also the cases where PC leaders aren't just gatekeepers to playing in general, but to plot involvement. They may be given plot fu nuggets with the assumption that they are actually going to lead and disseminate the nuggets to the rest of their faction. Summon the knights to the round table, delegate, etc. Often enough it instead ends up as a group of PC leaders disappearing to Quest for McGuffin using their combined nugget stockpiles while everyone under them is left doing Bar RP.

@ganymede said in The limits of IC/OOC responsibility:

I feel like sometimes people clamber for positions of power before considering that other players, who are trying to have fun, will require some of their online play time for their PC's needs/wants. If you're going to take on a leadership position, you need to recognize that other PCs are going to need things from you, so take a moment and think about whether you want to compromise your funtime to help others make their time fun.

      10/10

It largely depends on how a game is structured but if leadership ends up gatekeepers for plot/other characters being included in the fun.. don't take the position if you aren't willing to do that.

I've seen it work out really well too, but was structured so that each PC leader was paired with a staff leader too.

@jaded I just saw it too.. and tend to agree with the 52% audience score on RT

It's odd.. it's such a good movie.. and also such a bad one. Thematic I guess, force and balance and all that.

..but I understand that wasn’t his fault.

I think this is true for Matt Smith too. Can't really say that HE was the problem, but everything else going on with the show. I think I made it through 1.5 seasons with him as the doctor before I just lost the urge to watch anymore.

I'm almost done Oathbringer and that makes me sad. It will be 3 years until the next Stormlight book is out 😞

And I still bet the next one will be out before Rothfuss' book.

In addition, I am only going to be playing/running things during the daytimes, weekdays. It's my MUSHing playtime window. I won't be on in the evenings or most weekends, except on rare exceptions. So, until some other Storytellers get up to speed and we're all on the same goals/style page, it'll just be me.

What will there be for people to do when you are not around before other STs get up to snuff?

I think in this case it's less winging it and more that Carrie Fisher died. From what I read Leia had been intended to be a giant part of the final film to the trilogy so they have had to scrap the entire thing.
