You've got to stop flipping between super-literal and being forgiving of context. But yes, I agree. I was offering a gentle tweaking that she is basically re-writing the idea.

I'm coming back with page references and all that later (...probably), but I'm actually like 87% certain @Ganymede is right. I remember reading through a chapter in Demon that explained the God Machine isn't like a literal physical machine somewhere in the bowels of the earth or deep space or whatever, but basically the sum of all of the output from all the occult matrices running across the face of the planet.

The "5 stages" thing is mostly misunderstood and wrong anyway.

I've always wanted a system with a little more lethality for a post-apoc setting, where combat is super dangerous and should always be cause for second thought, but that is probably literally just me.

My great grandma on my mom's side was a Danish immigrant to the US, so I'm...what, 1/8th Hamlet? My dad's side is a pile o' mutt. They claim to be Irish but I actually have no idea.

That's why I said style. There was a lot of discussion in the thread that people find the show relatable, for good reason. In my memory when it was suggested the game would be more like the show -- used as a well known reference, I don't think anyone meant literally adapt the show -- to the OP, he was kind of like, "Meh, I can see it." My bad if that's not how it actually went down or if you're that dude and thus, would know better, haha.

Exactly. Provide enough setting information and character resources to make it interesting, but don't flip your shit if someone doesn't have a Master's degree in Scandinavian history. It's just a game, maaaaaan.

I'll be honest, I don't care all that much about historical accuracy in a game where in theory, you could be spending a lot of your time stabbing spirit-Claimed sharks. If it wound up playing a lot like Game of Thrones On Crack, that'd be missing the intent in my heart...but still. Sharks.

Somebody was working on History Channel's Vikings-style Werewolf game back on WORA and there was some excitement for it, myself included. But it doesn't seem to have resurfaced.

Whatever happened to the Viking Werewolf game idea? 2E is out and I want my goddamn vikings

Most really immersive experiences I had where I felt like the terminology worked had to do with what specific part of the Werewolf world my character interacted with; keeping it sparse never really seemed like a problem for me. I didn't feel the need to memorize and use the entire lexicon. The new terms sound and feel more guttural and real, which helps.

That is seriously one of the coolest and most detailed Shadow-intensive chronicles I've ever read, and I'd recommend it to anyone playing or STing Werewolf.

I'd suggest it was a deliberate move to lessen interest in this game, for players like you. Your sensibilities are not going to align with the Supreme's sensibilities, and as far as I understand that's the whole point of doing this in the first place rather than waiting for some obnoxious drama down the road.
