@insomniac7809 This has been one of my major irrational peeves in WoD. I have this THING where I HATE when people do it and I WANT to make rules preventing it. Like 'You basic sheet must be a functional person before spending XP.'

But I also realize that that would probably maybe be a little over reaching? I dunno, but its def one of those that gets my hackles up.

We're all Hipsters at our core. "I was into X before it was cool." "I knew about Vampires before anyone else did."

I realised we were all hipsters before you realised we were all hipsters.

@jennkryst I still, after like, so many damn years, loved the haunted Memories version of 'Once you raise this stat, it is x amount of time until you can raise that stat again.' At least for atribs and skills. But I like the slow long game and the insta bulk up because you had xp sitting around just hits my personal suspension of disbelief buttons.

Ketoburger deliciousness. The 'Bun' is literally a shredded Mozzarella sheet baked on parchment paper.

I just feel as others have mentioned before me, like i was watching a very pretty and well designed... cliffs notes version of the last 2 seasons. Costuming on point, beautiful imagery, some strong impactful scenes and glorious twists...

...that utterly ignored the established pacing of the series that it had set from the beginning.

Seriously, pro tip: don't ask an older sibling to 'give up their birthday.' They will, out of love for the younger sibling, but it sucks and eats away at them. I know it did for me and anyone else I've ever met who got similar treatment felt the same.

Oww right in the feels. Grew up poor, brotherds 8 and 10 years younger than me. Of course I was okay with my brothers getting more toys, of course i knew 'christmas was for the kids' I mean sure i was still in highschool, struggling with my family not understanding or approving of anything i was interested in and actively forcing me to take classes i didnt want because 'drafting was more practical than drawing and you use a pencil and paper so its the same thing in the end'.

So yeah, getting a 5 dollar candle holder you pointed out while your mom was gathering crafts hoarding supplies at Cost Plus and 20 bucks when yer 15 while your brothers rake in piles 'because yer so grown up more, we totally love you equally'

      Ahem. Them feels.

@Apos said in How does a Mu* become successful?:

Who on earth puts staff in a position where they have to rein in players for thematic violations without empowering them also to deal with abuse? Wtf, that's horrible. If some staff told me I made a desc or background or whatever that was over the line, I would be like mortified and apologize. Who fights about that shit?

Oh I have all the power, I am a terrible despot. Well, Co-Despot. However, in being a tyrant, i do attempt (occasionally) to not come off like a power mad totalitarian. So, Politeness, firm deadline.

Changeling suffers from a fairly unique problem of having a /lot/ of room for creativity. There's a lot you can do with you desc, but there are also some clear (to me, and in the books) limits on things. So yeah, you can have badass looking horns, but your horns should not be like those of Tim Curry in Legend. Animal features, but not full on Furry until you are damned high wyrd. A lot of changeling has to do with story, but some take that to mean literally everything they ever read in a fantasy book should somehow be canon. My keeper is totes obsessed with D&D and made me a Drow! Or that the hedge is 'generic fantasy realm X', here are your Gryphons and Dragons, despite many of the books being filled with unique flora and fauna and environments and MOOD that are totally unique to the thorns. STAHPIT. (Please ignore late night nerd flail rage rambling).

@Lithium I have literally had players get on channel and say that a staffs job should be to process apps and jobs and butt out unless someone they don't like is going too far. That is it the players game and not staffs.

@deadempire Yeah, run away from that person fast. There are a few of those people out there, toxic AF. I h ad one time where i was RPing with a person, and her IC boyfriend kept paging us both while we were in the scene trying to figure out what was going on. Paranoia and possession run deep with some people. It's mucho creepy.

Well, I mean, to be fair, Jack was an asshole.

Okay okay okay, you could be talking about almost any online dude with an IC girlfriend, but the point still stands: Jack was an asshole.

I had actually briefly forgotten about Jack and that bullshit. but yer right, he is one of those too. There have been a handful of those over the years.

Me: Rping with A Female PC
Dude Female PC is 'dating': Hey what are you guys up to lol just curious winkysmile No big deal just innocently curious.
      Me: Here we go again.

I'm usually tempted to send them some TS, but it's HUGE RED FLAGS all over.

Edit: I'm also 'that guy' and will immediately tell the person i am RPing with. Why is this dude paging me about what we are doing?

@Ghost Oh shit, this reminds me.

So my wife likes big pretzels, you know soft ones with the big chunks of salt that can comes with garlic and mustard and are basically classic foods.

Well the AMC suddenly stopped carrying them and instead offered 'pretzel bites' which just aren't the same so she has been disappointed in theatre going lately because thats her 'treat'

Last time we went there they had the 'bites' and something called the 'Bavarian Giant' or something, and they warned us it was 'big'.

No, it wasnt big, IT CAME IN A FUCKING MEDIUM SIZED PIZZA BOX WITH A TUB OF NACHO CHEESE.

This pretzel could feed a family with 5 kids.

WTF WHY?! Why would you sell this as a 'snack to see a movie'?!

    • RE: TMC

@thenomain I think in general it is a net positive. Many people may not have liked the angry and frothy manner in which it was done, and yeah there was at times a tenancy to dogpile and tear people apart over the littlest thing (something that I do think has become less of a thing on MSB and as many of us have grown) i think that this communities intolerance of staff cheating and bullshit is an incredibly good thing.

@Ghost We're jsut standing there waiting to be seated with a pizza box pretzel, which there was no casual and subtle way to hold.

Like 'Yup, Endgame is 3 hours we might starve to death.' I just wanted to buy my wife a damned soft pretzel,, but NoooOoo, we need 'Bites' and 'fuckit I'm dying of a heart attack at 42 anyway' instead of the simple fucking normal sized soft pretzel.

    • RE: Social Stats in the World of Darkness

@faraday That is NOT what I said, so please do not put words in my mouth.

It's not weather you 'like' them or not. Social Rolls are part of the game as written. People who ignore the results of dice rolls are, by definition, cheating. As game runners we can mitigate that and set boundaries (No you are not so hot you change someone's sexual orientation, nor can intimidate someone into shooting themselves).

But fine, lets argue that 'Hur durr no matter what you roll Imma react with violence. <insert pseudoscience argument about fight or flight>'

Suggestion: Yes, Player A rolled 5 successes against/over Player B's resistance to back down. By Definition Player A has intimidated Player B , that should not be in question. Player B wants to take their shot at Player A anyhow? Okay. Penalize that attack roll by Player A's successes. This represents the opponent being terrified but lashing out regardless, albeit in a fight/flight panicked state.
