I prefer Letters from Whitechapel to Fury of Dracula. It's too easy to track down Dracula's whereabouts in Fury and the few times my group has played, he hasn't been that scary in a fight either.

We could easily be playing it wrong too. Then again, Jack the Ripper rarely wins in our Letters from Whitechapel games, so maybe our group is really good at deduction and chasing down people.

FYI, It's Extra Life Table Top appreciation weekend. The official weekend for all of Extra Life (where you can still play board games too) is on November 4th. But if you like watching Table Top gaming, there is probably some going on, on Twitch for charity and stuff!

I LOVE Dixit. The first time I played it was on New Years Eve at a friend's party and I was too champagne addled to understand the rules. The second time I learned it doesn't matter if you understand the rules!

You are? Don't let people boss you around. Also yay for Dixit. Another thing that is fun about it is you can play it with whoever. My 8 year old plays with us. She's no more or less likely to win than anyone else so she digs it.

Just played Bring Your Own Book tonight, it was REALLY fun. Think "Cards Against Humanity", but where you've got 60 seconds to find the answer in a book. (Everyone picks out a book. Any book. One of our players tonight used a cookbook.) When you win two cards, you pass the books to the left, so everyone gets a new book.

LOTS of fun.

AUGUST.

Things have really started to fall apart. Northern United States is still in a panic over the July 4th Riots (even though they weren't technically on the 4th, but close enough for government work) and the hell born of Africa's fertile disease vectors has given us a lot more to think about.

John Doe (@EmmahSue) was shaken when the truth was revealed. No, I shouldn't say the truth, but a truth. Truths have been coming as fast as they can, hard truths—anti-vaxers protesting in the streets and denying their role in all this—as well as good truths—we have a handle on this and the CDC has given us leeway like never before.

We will see if we still have a job with them at the end of this.

New to Me: Keyforge.

Random, chaotic, not all that deep but more surprising than most games.

Played against @EmmahSue with a deck that was, frankly, a complete dick.

One game?! Oh dear. I mean, I adore Settlers of Catan for a large group.

But honestly, my favorite game? Cribbage. It's an older card-style game, where you earn a specific amount of points for different combos of cards, and the first to reach the end wins. My mother taught it to me and another kid that stayed at our house before the bus arrived. We played all the time. I taught it to my husband. Now we collect artistic boards when we visit festivals and other art venues. We have some really amazing ones now.

Just good solid memories.

Super excited to start a family game of Legacy Betrayal after tomorrow (we got a copy for the big kids, since our most requested game on family game night for the teens is Betrayal at House on the Hill. Though they like Redneck Life too (we have all the expansions).

I've been excited about Keyforge for months. I, admittedly, love card games. I stopped playing M:tG because of cost. And then Netrunner fell off. I'm interested in the Arkham Horror LCG, but I learned about it too late (work kept me away from the game store and such for a long time!) to really feel I can get into it now... even if I love that it's cooperative just like the board game!

But then I found Keyforge. And I found I loved how unique some of the mechanics were. The lack of 'mana' and using 'houses' to limit how much you play per turn is a good one and it also causes you to have to really juggle your deck and switch up strategy (and I can see how it'd cause you to have to learn and really understand your deck over time!). The unique decks is another and and-

I haven't bought a deck yet, but I've played with the demo set at the game store. I just dunno that I'd ever find anyone to play with being on the late shift at work like I am (hopefully once we get 1 or 2 new people trained up, I'll get to move to an earlier more social-life-friendly schedule. I've been pleading).
