Lovecraft Country was everything I was hoping it wod be and more. Seeing black voices reclaiming the works of one of the most prominent racists in America and using it to expose the horrors of America? Yes, yes, yes, yes.

Doesn't that make it more of a claim then a reclaim? I'm a big fan of this kind of 'cultural appropriation', a good story is a good story and is often made more interesting when retold through the lens of entirely different experiences.

Umbrella Academy was so good that I fucked my sleep schedule up over it. I'm not 100% sure it was worth it, but, goddamn, I love that show.

I really, really liked the first episode, but the way the second of Lovecraft Country went has me like...ehhh. I'll keep watching, but I'm a little baffled by how much the tone and pacing shifted and how they went through that plot at like, a full-on sprint.

I saw that all of Reno 911 is on CBS All-Access (which I have while watching Lower Decks, Picard, Discovery, etc)

Observation: This stuff was hilarious in the early 2000s but now when I watch these cops jump a dude in a Slurpee costume for throwing their litter back into the police car ("*Turn the cameras off; dont record this.") it's awkward as fuck.

(Note: It's not funny in any fashion but what was generally accepted humor 15 years ago isn't the same these days)

I heard Reno 911 is on that Quibi channel with new stuff. Does anyone know if they're addressing all of this police state/abuse stuff or is it more of the same?
