I am married, but I feel compelled to ask what your opinion is on the Giant Butter Jesus (2.0)?
There's always a butter something, so why not a butter Jesus? The State Fair is always a great place to see how the world used to work fifty years ago.

@Thenomain ... I didn't mention sports. The Hatfield/McCoy blood feud over a pig, and something about the civil war? I could tell you which side I'm on if I watch the history channel special on it again. But I am lazy.
Ohio's "Hatfield & McCoy" is, or rather was, a football rivalry between "THE Ohio State University", a huge Big 10 college, and "University of Michigan". Really, Ohio (and Columbus in particular) cared far more about this than Michigan (Ann Arbor) did. There was a time where you couldn't wear anything of the UMich colors in Columbus around the autumn to early winter season without someone giving you shit and maybe even keying your car.
Now it's been gentrified. If you can ever imagine Hatfield/McCoy getting a marketing team behind it and therefore everyone losing that true bile of hate because they're so excited to buy their Hatfield and/or McCoy sweatshirts, doggie jackets, mugs, flags, etc., then you get the idea.

Darling that's on I-75, which is not near Columbus.

Which if you will provide alcohol?
Actuaaaaally --- The Michigan/Ohio conflict started of Toledo - They had huge property disputes over who owned it. Then it just grew to we hate everyone in X state. --- Ironically, no one would want the city now.

I live in effing Columbus. Would you like to see our corn statues? Our field of cows within throwing distance of downtown? How about Origins, the Gen-Con Wannabe?
I'm going to Origins tomorrow.
My bunker is just outside of Oberlin, where I can keep a close eye on those crazy Oberlin College SJWs.
I'm going to Origins on Saturday. That's the one convention some of our TT group attends with our wives.
About 5 or 6 of us guys go to Gen Con every year. We also go down to Columbus every February and
stay in Easton and hold our own little 2 day "convention" where we play RPGs all day and imbibe large
quantities of beer. -

If you decide to go to GenCon, hit me up. That's my part of the woods. We'll grab a beer.

I don't miss Ohio. My wife lived there for a very short period of time (2 months? It was weird). My dad lived in that strange Children of the Corn area outside of Toledo and straddling Ohio and Michigan. Shit got scary. His most immediate neighbor had a daughter who was 3 forever. She would always be outside riding her little tricycle when we would come to town. There was also a cemetery nearby, so my wife and I theorized she was actually from there.
Fleas. Every hotel had fleas. There would somehow be a Dog Show no matter where we were. Random hotel in the cornfields? Dog Show. Stopping in Cincinnati for the night? Dog Show.
Things I like about Ohio:
The food.
Random artsy coffee shops in the middle of cornfield land. These places were like The Field of Dreams but for coffee enthusiasts.
The long stretches of straight road. Because I have a fast car and my wife and I sometimes like to go fast.Okay, so aside from the fleas? I've never wanted to go to Ohio more than after reading this. It sounds like a trip.

I knew that. I figure every Ohioan has passed it at some point in their lives and has an opinion on it. I have seen it but twice (going to and from Jungle Jim's from Dayton) and the impression it left on me is undeniable. Mostly because of the hubris of the assholes that made not one, but two Giant Butter Jesuses.

Second Butter Jesus isn't so bad. I head down that way only occasionally, but usually while I'm with my partner so I have other things on my mind than gawking at hideousness.
-
May this apparently less-hideous Giant Butter Jesus also get struck by lightning. I mean, if that church didn't take the first time as a message that perhaps a quarter of a million dollars was perhaps better spent on actual good deeds, maybe second time will be the charm?
For those of you who have not witnessed this atrocity:

I lived in Columbus for almost my entire life and have never heard of Giant Butter Jesus. Or Jesuses. Jesusi.

Butter Jesus, or Touchdown Jesus, or "My Dick Is This Big" Jesus, was named so due to its awful color, after years of exposure to Ohio elements.
New Butter Jesus is exaggerating his dick size even more now.
But people just claim he wants a hug.

I...
That's a thing?! Why? -
@Catsmeow Ohio.

If I have ever passed Butter Jesus, I don't recall. I know about the corn field statues, but that's because I live near them.
-
How am I supposed to tell Jesus was blonde and blue eyed from those statues? I swear.
-
@Misadventure Jesus wore a swastika? I KNEW IT!
-
I bid Canadian citizenship and extreme anxiety.
-
Well if @VulgarKitten is throwing her hat in the ring...
-
Are we only allowed to throw our hat in the ring for dating? Because I don't wanna move to Ohio.
But I'd totally throw down for some FWB action.
