You can do it! Just keep thinking of your mom and nothing else.

That's what I'm trying to do. Focus on her. Not my brother. Not my dad (who is prone to fits of being-an-asshole).

After 23 years of constant invasions by the husband while I'm trying to work and getting every train of thought hopelessly derailed in the process, having to keep him updated on a developing situation at home while he's away and getting:
"I love you but MUST WORK!"

@Ganymede It's like the karma fairy brought extra presents today.
I have waited years for this moment. Decades, even.
It is glorious.

Totally on his own with no prompting, my 5 year old has been hard at work with scissors, tape, crayons, and glue stick and has been spending all morning making a board game. It is called "Escape from the Bathroom." Sadly the title has nothing to do with the title (maybe in should be grateful). He convinced the parental units and his teenage sibs to play, it's actually not half bad!

My new humidifier/aroma diffuser is life. I have two guinea pigs and they are adorable, but the smell of hay is strong and not entirely in keeping with the zen of my study where they live. Enter the diffuser. No more incense making my eyes water and having to light them throughout the day, ashes everywhere. No more candles with their open flame I can't leave burning when I'm not in the room. Add water and a few drops of essential oil, and it runs silently for 6 hours sending out a VISIBLE mist of calming loveliness. (As for the emphasis on visible, I'm one of those people that likes to be able to 'see' something is working.)
I don't know how or why I've been stuck on candles and incense all this time, technology is amazing.

Be careful with what scents you use - some can have detrimental effects on critters.
-
@Taika Got it, thanks for the heads up. None of the scents I have are on any of the lists I've found online as possibly detrimental, but just to be on the safe side, I'll keep the window open while it's running from now on.

My go-to gif when dealing with anti-Semitic folks who want to blame Jews for the death of Jesus.

The Jewish people didn't kill Jesus. Joel Osteen did.

I have training this afternoon so I am going in to work later, which means I finally have time to drop off a couple of life-sized realistic baby dolls at a care facility nearby. Their memory care unit has a program where they have a library of cuddly baby dolls and lifelike dog and cat stuffed animals that residents can hold and cuddle and keep with them in their rooms/while they are out in the common areas. Apparently it really helps some of the residents with stress/soothing, gives them something pleasurable to do and motivation to interact with others (staff and other residents). I told my coworkers about it and I may have a couple more to drop off next week! They have a surplus of the animals so we have decided to be the baby patrol.

I have people I eat and watch movies with, and that's good enough.

I love taking things out of context for comedic value, just so long as the people involved know it is in good humor.
-
@Selerik Of course, humor, some fava beans and a nice chianti make such dinners a marvelous experience.

Tuesday: Bought new house (to build).
Thursday: Became partner at firm; also, birthday.
Friday: AvengersIs good week.

@Ganymede Congrats!!!!!
Also, if I were a Changeling that fed on sadness, this weekend would be like the Super Bowl. I have a feeling Game of Thrones and Avengers are gonna be tear jerkers.
SO DONT LET THAT SPOIL YOUR VICTORY
