@Kitty-Kat I don't know you. I've never played on any of your games, but I have heard the name of Lilith spouted on here before in less than flattering light.

For what it is worth, it takes guts to come here and do what you did. I applaud you for not only taking the time to work on yourself, but to (wo)man up and take responsibility for previous actions. Good on you! I hope the new you finds happiness in what you seek.

@Ghost How do I get hired there? I can say 'Did you turn if off and on again?" with the best of them.

I'd really like to see a well done Dresden Files show. The old one that was on Sci-Fi was ok, but (In my opinion) strayed just a bit to far off from the source material. If we could get one that stuck more to the books I think it would do well.

But that may just be me.

Hell I miss playing Kaleb, and if I had the chance to port him over to someplace to play him again I probably would. However he was unique to the setting and situation of TR, so I am not sure he would work in another capacity.

Still, he was a riot to play.

      I hate getting sick.

I especially hate getting sick right after having to deal with rodents in the house since my stupid brain jumps to worst case scenario like Hantavirus or something equally as unlikely when in reality it is just likely a cold.

    • RE: The OOC Masquerade ?

I started my MU* career back in those days of yore. I took about a 10 year hiatus, and when I came back the OOC Masq was a thing of the past, character wikis were now a thing and people were free with everything.

At first I hated that it no longer existed. I thought that it spoiled the game, that any element of surprise was taken away. That no longer would someone be in a bar and pick a fight with the wrong person since they could just look up what that person was and go 'Oh, shit..he is a insert thing here and I am just a lowly mortal. Maybe I should edge back so I don't end up dead!'.

But, after a bit I noticed that people (at least most people) didn't use the OOC knowledge they had and actually played their characters ICly, and that the prospect of being open actually enhanced some of the RP because you could add some prose to a pose that you otherwise wouldn't have been able to because of the OOC masq.

That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing an 'Old School' game with the OOC Masq pop up, just because I did like the element of mystery that went along with it, but I also know that I am in the minority and people tend to find the OOC Masq a horrific thing.

@jibberthehut winces Yeah, that is no good. I'm just having to deal with spouce's chronic migraines, which means medical leave since she can't drive to work or teach kids when her head feels like it is going to explode.

The lack of her income hurts, and being denied for her 'supplemental disability insurance' was a blow we didn't need after a surprise tax bill drained our savings. We are managing to squeak by just barely with some financial musical chairs, but I can't do this dance forever.

At least you are getting some good exercise? (I don't know, I'm trying to find a silver lining somewhere...)

I don't see that they'd be losing income anyway. Does the lease even change cost if one person moves out? Because I'd assume not. Sure, the individual residents would need to pay more (because obviously X divided Y ways is smaller than X divided Y-1 ways), but I'd assume the amount actually paid to the landlord per month doesn't change?

True. I was just thinking that she is staying within the same 'company' so they might be able to work with her. shrug

Another part of the problem is she states that I'm stuck, and the complex I applied at, is run by the same management company.

You may try going over her head to the management company. Since they are run by the same one, they are not 'loosing' any income, so they may be able to work something out and/or transfer the lease?

I don't know, just offering a suggestion to look into.

@ZombieGenesis Mine came about a week or so ago! Need to play it more than the once I have since I now understand the rules a bit better. We messed up and Red Hood wiped me out with the Minigun in like 3 turns.

If anyone is in the So Cal area (Yes, I know So Cal is a big area. Specifically I am in the Inland Empire), i'd love to invite you to a board game day. I throw them every so often as it is for friends, but the more the merrier.

    • RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)

Your stories of AD(H)D are so much worse than mine ever was. I mean, I was told I was an underachiever, that I was lazy and all that comes with ADHD from teachers all the time, but I at least had a supporting family.

They may not have known what was going on, and acted upon the information that the teachers gave, but they never belittled me or anything nearly as traumatic as the stories on here. They just pushed me to try and do better.

I feel for all of you.

    • RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)

One of my coping mechanisms since college has always been the ability to MU or do something else 'on the side' during work.

I would do my work (whatever it may be) and then respond to a pose...etc..etc. It always seemed to help me focus (sometimes hyper-focus, yes that is a thing) on my job more until it was time for my next pose. I honestly think it helped my productivity rather than hinder it as one might think.

It has been a real struggle with my new job, since I no longer have the ability to MU from work, nor look at websites, facebook, emails, whatever that the company has decided to block. I've resorted to reading a lot more news, and also logging in from my phone to just at least chat when I can (but that sucks as well, since the reception in my office is piss poor).

Thankfully, it seems that I might be able to work from home a few days a week, so that may help some once that becomes a reality.
