@sunny They are massive books, too. Massive. I hope your table is sturdy.

    • RE: Book Recommendations

Along with Kingkiller Chronicles (which is fucking amazing) my other favorite book series' latest instalment is coming out very soon so I wanted to recommend it.

Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson is the third book in the Stormlight Archive series. It's so original - it's fantasy set in a world periodically ravaged by superstorms, where humanity is engaged in a war with a race they don't understand, themselves separated into castes based on the color of their eyes.

The spotlight is shared by several really interesting characters, both male and female, each with developing special abilities and all interwoven into a massive plot by Sanderson (it's his forte, the guy is really good at spinning threads and then bringing them together) which is set to last for ten books... and he will pull it off, too. The guy is a writing machine.

      I can't recommend it enough.

@karmageddon I want to believe it was an oversight/failed attempt at humor.

@bored One of the first hits on google lists 50 female X-Men members (apologies for the "babe" label): https://comicvine.gamespot.com/profile/trky1/lists/women-of-x-men/33905/

Obviously not all of them are A-listers, but you may be more hard pressed to find as many in Gotham.

There are more canon mutants than bat-fam, but they also get to 'Who?' tier pretty fast, and I think the popular ladies were gone on Genesis in the first few hours, let alone days.

Oh, true, but it doesn't change the fact there are just way more mutants (even if many are relative or even complete unknowns) than there are in Gotham; you might not get Emma or Kitty but you can get someone who was around for a year or two.

The same starved population of MUSHers will probably snatch all the characters when they roll on Flashpoint within a couple of hours, recognisable or not.

There's probably no solution about it that doesn't involve OCs.

For the most part nearly all of the characters were staff made. I believe there are one or two that may have been previously made by actual players who beta tested the game back in July.

That's a good idea. If you don't put up some boundaries you mightprobably will end up with a really skewed number of ex-special forces snipers and martial arts experts who just happened to have retired in that city.

The reaction to the "pre-app process" here seems odd, when meanwhile over in the Gotham game thread literally every interesting female FC in the setting has already been claimed. Like a month+ before the game opens (for the record, that actually kind of bugged me). And that didn't draw a reaction at all.

Are people just more interested in mutants?

Don't forget though there are a lot more mutants than there are Gotham feature characters canonically.

@tempest It's different when you're healing because there aren't really rotations per se since you're reactive rather than proactive.

The issue is overhealing as well; with DPS you can't really blow a damage CD, even though you might not use it optimally (i.e. in the proper phase, during heroism, etc), but if for example you hit your big CD right after another healer does you might waste it almost completely.

@thenomain Sometimes it's habit. I've been playing a restoration druid for long enough that perhaps everything would feel clunky - paladins are great at healing those closest to them, and one of their big AoE heals is cone-based which in smaller groups doesn't hit enough people due to positioning.

I hadn't geared a new max level alt on WoW in months... and it's fun! The early stages where every other item you get is a huge +60 ilvl upgrade is really addictive.

Healing as a paladin still feels clunky though. So many cooldowns.

I left the spoiler tag to the default one because it sorta kinda fits.

... Wtf was that MILF bit they pulled with Billy Hargrove and Nancy's mom? That was kinda out of nowhere. 😛

It's a subversion the show has pulled on us more than once. It leads us to ship certain characters who aren't single (and not with the right person) but then the one they are with isn't just some jerk we won't feel bad about if they get dumped. Poor Steve!

@ixokai Fair enough. And without knowing what The 100's cookies are, I kinda get the vibe it's one of those systems I always thought typically turned out to be massive circle jerks.

About applications and MG specifically, I think it could be useful to staff not to see if a player is "good enough for a character but rather to ensure they can roleplay their way out of a paper bag. Some iffy players can be avoided, yet I imagine if Magneto or someone others should be gravitating around is a terrible player then it can have an impact on the MU* as a whole.
