@Rinel You know, that was my complaint too about an otherwise good movie. I was like REALLY, we need to go there? To pointedly have all the females gather in one section and be like "It's cool, we got this, GIRL POWER"

      :sighs:

***=Using this since, well, people might be bothered by any tidbit of spoiler!***

      click to show

I was kind of afraid to bring that up, tbh.

Like, it felt so awkward and stunted, writing-wise. It lacked the flow of everything else. The ladies WERE fighting, yo. Scarlet Witch had her biggest moment of badassery YET, ffs.

But I didn't wanna be the person to go 'hey I hated how they had the women gather and go 'look at all us women folk calling out that we're women folk fighting' only to be dogpiled for being sexist.

It was just awkwardly written and broke the flow. πŸ˜•

Is WWZ closer to book or movie? Because I have some issues with movie logistics.

It was based on the movie.

I didn't enjoy the movie at all as a movie. In fact, I hated it.

HOWEVER.... as a video game I think the piles-upon-piles-upon-piles of zombies are fucking hilarious when you throw grenades into them.

      Endgame.

It was incredible. It was a different movie than I expected as it set its pieces up, then it went from strength to strength.

I don't know how any franchise, including Marvel/Disney's, can top this. We might have just peaked for some time.

Feige really gave us a gift.

      More 'weird' than irk:

Working in a windowless, cold (high AC due to all the equipment) room staring at monitors, two of which showed regions that had heavy snow (sorry IL and Ontario) all day did not prepare me for stepping out into 80+ degree weather.

      @Cobaltasaurus

      No.shit.

That's why I got so fucking annoyed at the crowd outside the theater loudly shouting "No spoilers!"

Everyone departing was talking quietly, bent heads. And mostly in vague terms, like: "It went by so fast!"
"It was such a good send off."
"It was even better than I expected."

Those were the sort of things I managed to overhear. But everyone was being really respectful leaving the theater.....only to still have a crowd screaming in their face.

Which is why I was so fucking tempted to spoil shit for them. Because they were being dicks.

      Telling you I enjoyed a movie isn't a fucking spoiler. 😐

Thinking about this today while on the support chat with Verizon.

      Online chat/RP with ADD:

      • Read message.
      • Start thinking about reply.
      • Get distracted.
      • Some random amount of time later... "Did I reply to that? Crap."

To quote a common Tumblr response, "I feel called out by this post."

"Well, I'll go flip to this article really quickly and read it while I wait. Oh, there's the timer, I better go change over my laundry. Hrm, while I'm down here, there's that box I meant to sort through, I should take that back upstairs, then maybe I'll go see if that person I wanted a scene with tonight is onlβ€” gah, I was RP'ing! I hope they haven't been waiting too long for a pose!!"

This is one reason I'm glad for living alone and having my desktop (now that it's back in action!) in the central area of my apartment.

I may run around and do a dozen different things, but I'll always pass back by it and see Potato there on the left-hand screen. Because I am so much like this, too. I was once on the phone with a fellow MUer and I had it on speaker (dunno where my headset was at the time; I usually don't do that) and I kept wandering off mid conversation because something would distract me. I think I was standing on the sofa inspecting a curtain when he called me out for being a space cadet.

    • RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)

Something that compounds my ADD and is probably a large part of why it created anxiety in me is I have dyscalculia (dyslexia, with numbers) and one of the symptoms of this is audio processing. I have a delay in processing the things I hear. Especially through speakers.

It's why I hate talking on the phone. Why I insist on watching things with subtitles.

If I'm talking to someone with full headphones (not a single earpiece) and there's limited background noise and they speak clearly, I'm fine. But if there's noise or they mumble... Nope. I'm really grateful for my new coworkers, actually. They've been really cool about being willing to take or make calls (unless, y'know, we're too busy and I have to).

But it makes talking on the phone really, really hard when you have to force yourself to focus on one. single. thing. And then even when you do......the chances of making out what you've heard are really low.

I had to take a call today at work and it was for making a temporary badge and I got the name right except for one letter (f not s!) and I actually had a little celebration for myself.

For some people, talking on the phone while multi-tasking is no big deal. For me it's next to impossible. I can multi-task otherwise really well (when I have to run the SOC solo, that's 8 monitors to watch and handle information on and I love it because my brain runs high speed). But you add in talking to someone on the phone (in person is fine!) and I just become a bundle of nerves.

This is why, I think, I had my major nervous breakdown from working in a call center. It's not 'just' anxiety. It's anxiety born of this processing disability that's compounded by my ADD.

      @Sparks

It was accurate. A poor summation, but it did reveal a major plot point. Like, try taking End Game and summing it up in a single poor sentence. That's what this commentator was doing.

It was super shitty. And yes, clearly blatantly malicious. Probably some kid who thought they were being funny.

As for Gany's question: y'all debate sports at length on the board here. People do it in YT comments on highlight videos. πŸ˜‰

The comment threads on some of the channels I follow on YT are quite all right. One of my favorite mash up artists usually has some pretty great comments, even. It's really the viral videos that have the super shitty comments. Wherever they'll get the most eyes, ofc.

Zombie-wise, anyone pick up World War Z? I hear it's the new Left4Dead, and since fuckin Valve is dodging the zombie cash cow and not releasing L4D3...I've been reading reviews and considering.

I haven't bought it yet, but I know people who have.

The main complaints are: getting into multi-player with people is kind of a pain.
You can't change class during multi-player without fully backing out and going into a match again, which is a pain when playing with people.

But that's all pvp complaints. Like the actual missions look to be really smooth and the team is so far on the ball with fixing things as they come up.

Plus oh man the zombie hordes and the way they just fucking flood in. I wanna play so bad.

...there's a reason we went to an 8:30am show this morning, for real.

I am so tired I think I might die.

I worked 7a-3p yesterday, then went to the 6:30pm.

For sanity sake I was gonna wait for my day off Monday, but I wasn't gonna pass up a free ticket!

My coworker was watching basketball game highlights on YouTube and came across End Game spoilers.

So yeah, warning to folks. People are spoiling the movie in random YT comments.

Endgame was really good. Long though. Really long. To the point where, for me, it impacted the enjoyment of the movie a little bit. Even so I don't regret having seen it. They did an amazing job with it.

      Uhm.

It flew by for me. Like, I'll probably notice the length of the movie a lot more then second time, but I did not feel its length was an issue the first time around (which I did with Lord of the Rings, years and years ago).

Yeah, I got to say I didn't notice the length. I thought I would. I mean, I wake up at 5:45 am now and I went to a 6:30pm showing. I was afraid of falling asleep during the film (long day of work, cool dark theater, recliner seats...), but I was keyed in through the whole thing.

Now, halfway through driving the person I went with home, exhaustion hit me like a bus but during? Nope. Not at all. They scheduled the beats of the film just right, IMO.

      This.

ETA: there were people waiting outside the auditorium for the next showing who began chanting "No spoilers" as we left and I gotta say.... It had the opposite effect. I really came quite close to shouting some spoilers at them (I didn't, mind) for how fucking annoying it was.

I kind of wish my dad was an alcoholic so I could give that to him as an excuse or maybe hope someday he'd, y'know, stop. Not that I wish alcoholism on anyone (my ex-husband was one and it was... misery and I am so much better off without him), it'd just be... nice to think maybe someday it'd stop.

No. He's just an egotistical, religious-driven asshole.
