    • RE: What's your favorite MU* client?

I feel like the odd one out. Potato's spawns are the only ones I've ever liked. SimpleMU shoved them all to the end in a hot confusing mess. Atlantis puts them right after the window they 'belong' to which is OK I guess, but then I still feel like I have way too many windows in general.

Potato nested them under the connection they belonged to and I could label each one. Channels get a spawn. In FS3, combat gets a spawn. etc. Everything belongs to a connection in its own, neat organized space and I don't have too many 'overall' windows. For my OCD, it was amazing and I could just ctrl-tab down to them.

I miss it. 😞 In Atlantis I have to have this really complicated shorthand naming system just to keep from having too much clutter and I can't have too many spawns or else if I have more than a couple 'worlds,' welp, can't cmd+# to everything!

      I miss Potato.

      I miss dual input windows.
      I miss nested spawns.

      Sigh.

Never tried that, @Bobotron. I just know Duck installs on a Chromebook as a discrete app, so you have a window that feels like a full program, even though it isn't -- I'd find it weird to MUSH from even a standalone browser window with a tab and what have you, but Duck doesn't have that feeling.

Duck does install on Chrome itself, FYI. I've done this to help people troubleshoot Duck on various MU*s.

So you can use Duck on whatever OS you want. 🙂

Duck has issues with some ports and not others, or maybe my job is weird with it, I have no idea. Sometimes DuckClient works, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes it works with one game and not another. It's really confusing, lol.

Yeah, it's a finicky beast. I've encountered times when it will be doing something on a game (I think one time someone couldn't send semi-colons of all things) and I can't even reproduce the issue to try to help the person in question, even after duplicating all their settings.

Most games have always handwaved that stuff. And done things like 'women can fly gold, brown, blue, or green,' 'men can fly bronze, brown, blue, or green' and 'you can be whatever sexuality you want' (well, up until the 2010's, some did still press that metallics had to be straight....).

It just made sense really. Dragons have their own broad, wide range of personality. There's no reason to force sexuality alongside 'em ffs.

Sadly a major storm is likely going to limit my access this weekend but I'm hoping to start plots up next week. Exciting stuff!

I love my mandolin (the kitchen kind).

I've considered one of those, but I honestly am enjoying the process of improving my knife skills.

I just want a better knife! And rather than spend a ton of money on omgfancyknives, I think I'm gonna take my okay-ish ones and buy a really good sharpening stone and improve them while buying a good chef's knife.

Thank you Alex French Guy Cooking for teaching me about kitchen knives. ❤

The mother of the kids I hung out with as a teen was a hoarder. I just cannot watch that show because their house.......

11 kids. 4 bedroom house. You had to navigate through narrow pathways made of boxes and piles of shit.

One year, ONE, I made the mistake of going to Walmart with them around Christmas (before it was common for them to be open 24/7 and it was a special thing during the holidays) because I needed to buy some gifts.

I SPENT EIGHT HOURS THERE. This woman would go through every. single. aisle. She left there with like four? carts overflowing.

One year her kids pooled money together to send their parents on a vacation and cleaned out as much from the house as possible.

I dunno the state of things these days since I think all the kids have moved out (the youngest might still live at home; I think she's... 16 or 17 now).

I mean, it could be something like rheumatoid arthritis (doesn't just affect old people), anemia (again, isn't age specific)....

      For me it's my anemia.

But I own like, six? pairs of fingerless gloves for those 'my hands are too cold to type' days.

@Paris @Auspice So i messaged this to Paris privately but i'll just tell the world.

I am generally suuuper skeptical about kitchen gadgets... but the 'Slap Chop', or a cheap 8 dollar version on Amazon is amazing. For things like Garlic especially, I buy fresh peeled garlic, tho this thing will usually also help it peel. Instead of standing and chopping and risking cuts (because While i like to cook I am still me, who will even typo in the kitchen.) you just put your stuff under the thing, smack it a few times and VIOLA!

It seems silly but it changed my kitchen life.

I've been wanting a full food processor since I'd like to be able to do more 'wet' items (like salsa!) and those 'slap chop' type deals aren't as good with them. And one of those will cost me a fair bit more. Just a matter of saving up for a bit.

Thankfully! I've paid off some debt (my parents surprised me at Christmas by helping me finish off the last chunk of a loan I took out a few years ago for a gap in student loans) and I changed car insurance (which dropped my rates by nearly $100 a month (!!!) for the same coverage) providers, so starting in Feb I should have a little more flexibility in funds.

I don't mean to be meanly critical, but have you considered chopping your food while sitting? I can assure you that this can be done safely.

Double-post... I think based on @Paris 's second post that the sitting options they have, it's a matter of comfort/support.

      @paris

I prefer fresh garlic, but I gave up and just use the jar-in-the-fridge. It just adds too much time and I have such a small window at night to eat and do chores. I'm just glad I finally got the hang of chopping onions. What I need now is a sharpening stone since my knives are a bit dull!

I am def. not as bad off with standing, but once the pain sets in after standing for a bit, I know I'm shot for the day. And risk a flare up for the following day. But yeah, I just cannot afford pre-chopped veggies. Period.

Having cats means I just have litter and such tracked all over the apartment + wood floors (save the bedroom). And all the shed fur. So a roomba would be lovely for me. Esp. since they now have ones that handle it p well (they used to get clogged super easy, but they've finally improved to the point of being worthwhile!). They're just... still too pricey.

I love cooking, I really do.

Chop garlic! Sit down for 20 minutes to catch breath because too lightheaded to continue.
Chop shallots! Sit down for 20 minutes to catch breath...
Chop chicken! ...Maybe I better sit down for another 20 minutes before I start...

Having to stand up to cook is super hellish. I love my instant pot because it cuts down time, but food prep is still my nemesis. I need to get another liner because having to make the rice and then wait for it to cool before I can scoop it out and make the main dish is a pain in my ass.

I really want that homemade chicken tikka masala, though. Onwards!

This is why there's a few recipes I haven't made again. There'll be those '40 minute prep' times and I'll have to triple 'em. Standing upright for long periods of time is hard for me (as it is for you, too!). My lower back and hip start to hurt quite a bit. It's also why my house cleaning has to be spread out throughout the week.

I long for the day I can afford a roomba (or similar) to take care of the floors. Those are the worst part. 😛

I'm kinda convinced the Peacock is NPH at this point. I mean, it probably ISN'T but I want it to be.

Either NPH or Donny Osmond. Pretty sure now the Unicorn is Tori Spelling, and I'm still betting on Gladys Knight for the Bee. (She's been called the Empress of Soul, and she has four back up dudes in her clue package a la the Pips)

It's probably Donny Osmond but I want it to be NPH in my heart.
Unicorn is prob Tori Spelling yes.
      Alien is likely LaToya Jackson.

@auspice There is somewhat of a difference between "ask us and we'll close it" and "we're asking if you want it closed."

This is true. I'm just pointing out that it's not being done without the permission of the thread owner is all. My guess is that since the rules of the section do state that attacks on games aren't allowed and a few threads had those and went wildly off topic... Ark might have opted to do some housekeeping.

Hold up, I'm noticing threads being locked up and discussions popping up, so a conclusion was formed but no official word with an announcement as to the new way we gonna do things? I just care about transparency here is all @Arkandel

Based on a comment made at one point of 'waiting to hear back from <a thread owner>,' I believe Arkandel was asking the game owners if they wanted their ad threads locked down to just the ad post and the discussion moved to a new thread. I don't think he's just going ahead and doing it without go-ahead.

In which case I think that's okay. It's always kinda been forum policy that a thread owner can ask to have their thread locked, moved, etc.
