      @packrat

I have a playlist I like to listen to while exploring. But I also just think the game is absolutely gorgeous.

I can't pilot for shit via keyboard/mouse. I had to use an XBox controller to even begin playing the game. I think I owned it for a year before I played at all. I tried the first tutorial on keyboard/mouse, spun wildly for a while, and gave up. 😛

Eventually I'll get my dream HOTAS and kick some ass. >.>

@auspice Thanks for that! I was not going to pay full price, having heard it runs out of content fairly quickly, but definitely wanted to give it a try.

Elite Dangerous is amazingly immersive in VR but I got to the point where I had a fully equipped Vulture with money in the bank and just sort of bounced on further content.

Have you done much exploration in E:D? I find it hard to imagine 'running out' of content in Elite. There's an entire galaxy! Or joined up with a company? Joining in on wars or operations is a great way to stay involved.

But as for Bridge Crew... having a regular group of people to play with, from what I see in videos, seems to be the 'trick,' and since I play with 3-4 other people on Sat nights on a regular basis, it seems perfect for us. We have a few 4-player games we keep on rotation.

@deadculture @Lithium Can we wait until the game is fully closed before doing so so folks have a chance to see that it is closing and if they want to hop on real quick and grab info for their characters or try and hook up with folks they can do so?

There are a lot of closed games in the Ads board, so I believe this is a moot point overall.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew is 50% off
      This is not VR-only anymore.

I've wanted to try it for a while, but certain YouTube videos, this one in particular, have gotten me hooked into desperately wanting to try the game. I had a bit of money left in my budget due to meds costing less than expected, so I've nudged my Saturday night gaming buddies (I will share their Twitch streams if anyone's interested; I don't stream yet) into picking it up also. 😄

I wonder what it is that causes it. I've heard a few people who have issues with it crashing or losing connection for them. It's not an issue I've personally had, so I know it's not wide spread.

My QA brain is curious though.

Did you know that, if you sponser a dog, you can send it presents?

I am sorry to hear about your losses, but one of the reasons I love to participate in the redditgifts secret Santa for pets (other than to see what people get for my kitties) is so I can spoil other people's pets.

I dunno what it is, but buying things for critters is a lot of fun!

The fact that you already have all of the tax documents you need is just shy of amazing itself

      Digital age, man.
None of the paper versions have arrived, but I happened to check my school's site today and theirs were up in PDF already and my employer's went up end of last week. HR Block will grab all the data from PDF. Made the process super easy.

So for the last couple years, my tax returns have been... disappointing, to say the least.

2015 tax year: Had to pay (went up in income / moved states).
2016 tax year: Began school too late in the year for the tax credit (so got a rather pathetic return; less than $100).

Which meant I just... really wasn't expecting much. At all.

I just finished my taxes. I'm getting enough that I can get a car. I can get the cheap sort with low monthly payments I've been planning... and still have money left over.

I'm not entirely convinced this isn't a dream or something and I won't wake up. 😐

ETA: Over the weekend I was talking to someone re: the show and got back on my 'might use AresMUSH to make a Magicians game' train (because I really don't want to code a system from the ground up and they know WoD Mage well and they agree with me that it won't work well)...

***=Funny moment at work re: Shape of Water***

      click to show

I mentioned having gone to see Shape of Water on Monday.

Coworker: "That movie was weird. She had sex with a water bug."

Other coworker: "...what. WHAT. YOU ALL CAN'T JUST BE SAYING SHIT."

First Coworker, clapping with each word: "She. Had. Sex. With. A. Water. Bug."

I love these guys. I hate my commute, but I honestly do enjoy being here.

      Goddamn.

Hells to the yeah, while I am certainly biased being a Vikings fan, that was the best ending to a game I have seen in years, 4 lead changes in the last 3:01, and a spectacular winning play. Games like that are why I watch football and my team winning only make it better. ... And I should admit between it happening live and all the TV replays then me watching it on you tube I have probably seen that last play a good 35 times.

We had the game on at work (I work for a streaming service). None of us were doing a damn bit of work the last five minutes of that game. It was great.

A coworker said 'I don't want to know about that crazy shit from back in your day.'

      You know what this means?

That the Internet is as deviant as it can ever get. We made it to the top of that hill before anyone else. Everyone after our generation will be following in our footsteps.

      We won.

It's true. When they're wigged out by 2girls1cup and some minor BMEzine stuff and you're thinking something along the lines of "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.."

Maybe we won. But was it really winning?
