RE: Kinds of Mu*s Wanted
@Songtress
I had theorized (and honestly still might do it, if I get this VtM game open and it tanks) about a VHD-based game, designing an isolated section of the Frontier that hasn't been struck as hard by the vampiric societal decline, still controlled by a group of Nobles who are at odds with each other. Set up with four or five Vampire families, the Barbaroi and other mutants and cyborgs and creatures that serve them, and the Frontiersmen caught between the machinations and battles of the vampires. Players would be able to app for the Noble line vampires (shy of the heads, which would be NPCs), and spiral out from there. Cyborgs, sorcery, magic, magitech, mutants, and all kinds of cray shit. -

You have tiramisu and I do not, and I am extremely sad. -

BAH. Go watch AIR, see if you come out without crying. We call it the Soul Test in my circle of friends for a reason.@Songtress
MAGI MAGI MAGI MAGI!!!!! I am sad they're not making more anime series of it as the manga's getting close to the end now. -
RE: New forum version
I think I found an error. I unwatched a thread, and I'm still getting block notifications at the bottom of my screen.

@Bobotron I haven't seen the preview yet, but I will watch it religiously, cuz macross... and because Frontier made me forgive them for 7.
BEHOLD.
ETA: Better link. http://www.cartoonforkids.net/macross-delta-episode-1-english-subbed/I'm not sure how I feel about it yet (if you disliked 7, you will probably dislike this...). The animation is pretty though.

@Runescryer
On the note of Frontier, did you see the preview of Delta? -
RE: An-E-May
Hmm.
- Ushio and Tora - Like Parasyte, an anime based on a seminal 90's manga (and my current obsession). Modern supernatural shounen action.
- Digimon Tri - The third part of the original Digimon Adventure, an official sequel after 02 with the main kids in high school.
- Overlord - A dude stuck in an MMO universe turned real becomes the main villain and transforms into a lich.
That's the only stuff I'm watching right now.
@Glitch
I hear good things about Haikyuu, I'll take a look at that. What is it with the sports anime nowadays though? Basketball, biking, swimming, volleyball. All of them have an anime. There's a new one about track about to start too. -
RE: Kinds of Mu*s Wanted
@Cirno
There's something to be said there. At least you could play a yukionna, which is the basis for your snow fairy personality.@Wizz
Heh. The idea I have in my head is less WoD-based though, with kindof a full broken veil (or at least like later Parasyte or Ushio and Tora, where the government knows about the monsters and tries to keep them from spilling over into the populace). The concept more lends itself to 'and the crazy monsters of the region reappear' and so you'd have the ability to build whatever monster you want, though my focus has been extremely narrow of late (my vision for this ends up more supporting just youkai and bakemono, so shit like flying heads that eat people, centipede women and oni with kanabo type stuff). -
RE: Kinds of Mu*s Wanted
A modern non-WoD supernatural game set in modern Japan, where Japanese monsters and mythology are real. Essentially Yu Yu Hakusho + Tokyo Ravens + Ushio and Tora + Rental Magica + xXxHoLiC and all those other 'humans, Japanese spirit world and youkai interact' series. Would focus less on horror (though that's there) and more on the supernatural adventure and big heroics deal. Mostly because I've been bingeing the new Ushio and Tora, which is really good.

RE: Tanika @Age of Alliances
There's also the extremely simple 'we use the canon of X up until point Y, from there the advancement from there is up to the players'.

There is an entire galaxy of events to play through without needing to mess with the Skywalkers.
If you feel that being unable to destroy The Emperor, or stop either Death Star from being destroyed, is to restrictive on your RP plans, that tells me a lot about what your actual goals are, and I am not sympathetic.
What if you want to play a Jedi though? You can't if the last ones left are Obi-wan, Yoda and of course Luke.
How about a Sith Lord? There's already a Master and an Apprentice.
Or, alright, let's say such things always happened even in the movie universe but these characters are underground to avoid being slaughtered by the Empire. Deviate enough - such as making the group known, or allying with the rebels - and you'd be affecting the timeline.
Playing with a very set theme on rails is quite hard on roleplay. You'll keep being in arguments with purists.
I think the most recent ad I saw for them essentially said ' app for something else, and when we get to a point for that, people who have contributed heavily to RP will be considered for those slots'.
Which is part of why I'm avoiding it. I'd love to play, and I really don't have a lot of interest in a Jedi or Sith myself, but it feels weird. It's the same reason I won't do the GoT MU*, I feel like it actually stagnates RP in general.

The point, Alzie, isn't whether we can identify our stalkers or not (for the record I knew we could), it's that we've got a fucking stalking feature but no anti-stalking features.
Seriously, which deranged son-of-a-bitch wrote this software?
People who thought 'oh, hey, I like their posts, I want to see what they post' is a good idea? Which is a common thing on social software anymore.

@Bobotron That was two months ago. Movie is out, all factions are open for play. But the MU is set 1.5 years before the movie, so we'll get to Ep 7 around the time that Ep 8 hits theaters.
Well, hell. I looked at the wrong timestamp. My bad.

I recall nothing about forced-Stormtrooper-ness. There is currently a 'forced civilian' thing going on, because they're waiting to see the state of the galaxy in the movie before picking up anything non-Nar Shaddaa. I really, really wish they weren't using DSS. Alas.
They really shouldn't need to wait too long if they are willing to get a couple of books. You should really suggest to them to go get the Aftermath, Lost Stars and Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary. It goes into detail about stuff, but...
TL;DR, Infighting hurts the Empire, and the Rebellion/nascent Republic are stealing their ships to inflate their own fleets. The Empire locks up pretty much their last big forces in the Battle of Jakku, and ends up scuttling a whole lot of craft including one of their few remaining Star Destroyers on the planet. After that, the Empire is annexed and they sign a treaty confining them to a part of space, while the New Republic forms. The Resistance forms separately from the Republic inside that Imperial-controlled sector of the galaxy, in an attempt to finish the job, and the Empire becomes the First Order after an internal shift. Notably, the Republic does not publically support or decry the Resistance, as that's not in their areas of space at all.
They won't have any pull on the movies as a thing if they don't actually do something in that era. And if they're being obstinate about not having enough stuff from the movie itself, they need to look at the actual canon extra stuff they can use to help their relaunch.

Where did you play her? The only place I've seen someone play that character was MVC.

RE: Where the hell is everyone?

I have to wonder, knowing some people in that fandom RL, how much of that is RP, and how much of it is either:- Just random talking about Ponies and Brony'ing out
or - Shangri-La with Ponies
I don't think MUing will ever truly die, but there's a paradigm shift that you're seeing that we must adapt to. There's this instant gratification, feed me the plot and story, only story that comes from STs matters, mindset that has permeated new MUers. And that's the problem, ad I don't know where or why that's become the norm.
Even in LJ RPs that I was part of, we'd just do stuff as play and (with ST permission) work major stuff into it (like the Harry Potter GreatestJournal RP I played Neville in, which let us decide how we dealt with the aftermath of the Battle of the Ministry and worked that in for other PCs who wouldn't be ICly aware of that). Maybe people just aren't as inspired to do non-staff-plot scens anymore.

RE: Good TV
I started watching the new release of an anime, based on an old manga. Probably written and done after seeing the success of Parasyte, but it's pretty cool.
Ushio and Tora, about a boy, a magic spear, and the demon that wants to eat him and their adventures. Animation is nice, the use of japanese mythology and folklore is cool, and overall it's a good series.

Isn't that kind of old, though? It looks like it's from 2013.
