And another update. Back to a 2e game, and trying something new with a psychic vampire. Go go, redhead squad!

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
@Three-Eyed-Crow There isn't anything that requires daily check ins, or even weekly. Tasks are opt-in, investigations are opt-in. 99% of the RP I get (and I get a lot of RP in spite of beta not starting for another two weeks) has nothing at all to do with tasks.
I play a faction head and get my own resources (which I then put in my faction's accounts) by offering support to other people's tasks. I haven't run my own +task in weeks.
They have changed a lot since @Tempest was active. The game is not what it was several months ago. Several months from now, after the revisions of beta, it will probably be changed too. There are a lot of things still in adjustment mode, so I would recommend going in with the understanding that it's like moving into an unfinished apartment, work is still going on all around you and staff is being generous to allow people to RP while that work is being done.
But it is a fun atmosphere, and a better group of helpful, enthusiastic, creative players I haven't encountered in many, many years.

RE: L&L Options?
@Seamus said in L&L Options?:
There is IthirMUSH, however, it is L&L Lite, due to the real lack of politicking, more along the lines of agreements and so forth, and no real "working to be better than others", but that's in their theme.
I appreciate the recommendation. Unfortunately, I would rather chew glass than subject myself again to that staff corps.
@Ganymede @Pondscum Story's what I'm missing! My schedule's made that difficult but I'll have a log in and look about. Thank you.

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
@Arkandel Go visit with Victus. He's a huge potty mouth and will make you feel better about swearing ICly.

RE: Arx Alts
Presently I play Sabine and Juniper. One of these will be going soon though. ominous foreshadowing

RE: MU and Alternate Channels
Personally, I don't care where the log comes from but if I am handed evidence that one player heaped abuse on another that included wishing them dead, no matter the source, then that player is not a good fit for my game and would be gone. They would not be invited back because of the message it sends, not just to the population of the game, but to the abuser. You draw your line, you communicate your line clearly to your players, and then by god you hold that line.

RE: Cary's Playlist
@Kanye-Qwest I love playing Dawn! First roster character ever and she's terrific. Thank you for letting me steer her. :3

RE: Arx- Gareth
@Kireek I was happy to try to work with you. Like I said, I tried to do so in a positive and productive manner. I noticed you behaving in ways I would not personally choose or condone but I also felt that it didn't affect my gameplay too much. When you paged me with negativity, I deliberately chose to answer with positivity or not respond at all. It felt like we had a decent balance until you went off on poor brand new Laric for an extended period of time because you were jealous of his sheet and scared he'd be better liked than you.
Maybe I should have said "dude, cool it" before that point. But I really did think a balance could be struck. You don't feel what you did was wrong. You feel the staff made policy decisions that were wrong. I'm sure there are games out there where your playstyle and opinions fit in perfectly. I don't think you're a bad guy. You're just not a match for this game.

RE: Cary's Playlist
I've given into peer pressure and rolled through chargen at Fifth Kingdom. Once she's approved, I'll be trying out Grainne.

RE: Gamecrafting: Excelsior
I love the things you dream up. Always have, always will. I'd play this in a heartbeat.

RE: Indicating Discomfort in a Scene (online)
This is why I am fond of the idea of a discipline board. When complaints are made, they get posted directly to the board; those who have had similar experiences then know they can come forward because they weren't just imagining it or blowing a situation out of proportion. When complaints are resolved, the process is posted. When bannings happen, it goes up on the board with the reasons detailed. Patterns can be more easily seen in the people making complaints and those earning them. Staff are all on the same page about who's upset about what instead of things getting lost in poor communication. People can see immediately what is unacceptable on the game. Players can see that staff will be completely transparent about wrongdoing done on the game, including complaints made against them. Staff have a place to easily present their take on things and showcase their problem-solving skills and willingness to deal with the shit that comes up on games.
Put it all out there.

RE: Mutant Genesis (X-Men)
@tempest I haven't looked at the Gotham thread. That setting doesn't interest me and I do prefer mutants. But for a good chunk of characters to be claimed a month+ before a game opens, yes, that would bother me too.

RE: L&L Options?
Unfortunately it does look like Marsilikos doesn't really work for my availability and goals. It has some nice people and the RP is solid so I am officially vouching for it in that regard though.

RE: Darkwater: The Return
This might be enough to convince me to try WoD again. Hmmm.

RE: PBs You Haven't Had a Chance to Use
@surreality Your first is a poet and model named Segovia Amil. She was my Mekhet elder on F&L.
Some of my current unused PBs: Jane Lynch, Sarah Gadon, Hannah John-Kamen, Caity Lotz, and Phildel.

RE: Cary's Playlist
Updated again, finally. I'm a slacker, what can I say?

RE: Is there a niche for Urban Fantasy that isn't WoD or FC-based?
I would absolutely check this out too. Urban Fantasy with an original spin is my jam. War for the Oaks by Emma Bull is one of my favourite books (though it doesn't fall within the category of supernatural out of the closet).

RE: Forgiveness in Mushing
@ganymede It isn't that you remain wholly separate, it's that you're oblivious to it going on.
