It's still too fucking small. If someone can tell me how to increase the damn font size , or install another skin with a larger one, without using ctrl-scroll wheel (which makes it impossible to review old posts while replying), I'll be not unhappy with this.

I know you found a fix but also--

Have you tried the 'Readable' skin? I just switched to it cause I found the font on Spacelab a bit too small. It's a little bit better, but ymmv.

Not unlike the way MU* treat staffers who make changes on games.

I'm okay with the changes (was fine with ones last night, I'm curious as to why it worked for some and not for a bunch of others?).

However, the giant square avatars are really disconcerting and actually make it hard for me to track threads, because they don't lineup with anything. They're just plopped down into the thread. Is there anything that can be done about them to make them less obtrusive?

Even if it's turning them off for myself.

ETA: Apparently, I just need to refresh every thread. Okay, got it.

ETA: I don't know if this has already been mentioned -- I don't feel like combing back through everyone's whinning.

But if you're like me and you had to refresh the categories page every time, or every thread, and every page of the thread to get it to look right -- you can clear your browser cache and it'll fix it. (If you didn't already know. And if you don't know how to do that typically: Settlings > Advanced > Somewhere in there.)

On Darkwater I, we had one staff room and no staff offices. And we're all chilling out in the room. Not really talking or anything and then suddenly BAM! TS pose into the staff room.

I went: "Woah there, I'm at work!"

And the staffer who did it was soooo embarrassed, so very embarrassed.

Of course, I was once holding on a quasi-TS conversation in page with someone, and having just a regular conversation with a different person ... and accidentally mav'd something about being spanked to the person I was having a regular conversation with.

I think I apologized and logged off.

Generally, people like to serve on juries, I've found. Most don't try to duck out unless they have prior commitments, like vacations or medical appointments.

Or they move across the country and can't possibly show up. >_>

@Cobaltasaurus Could have been me. Sounds like some shit I would say! I used to be defensive of my preferences because I got accused of being a guy a lot. Still do but I don't care. It apparently even is a thing on ESO. My characters get built in such a way that, when combined with my PSN name, I surprise people when I talk. Now it's just funny.

I don't think so. This person was- it seemed like they wrote using google translate.

@Whirlwind once told me about a player on WC that had told him she always played characters with big tits, because they had big tits RL and so that's all she knew how to play.

In a few hours I will finally be free for the summer! FREE! No more waking up before noon. No more 1.5-2hr transits on the bus back and forth. No more having to go anywhere but my air conditioned bedroom.

I plan to sleep all day tomorrow.

    • RE: Good TV

@HelloRaptor In reflection about The Strain. My problem isn't the personal drama -- I was fine with it on The Walking Dead, for example. My problem is that the personal drama is poorly timed. The same way I felt that some of Sense8's jumping around was poorly timed. I get that the idea is to cause suspense, and tension, but for me instead of doing that it just left me frustrated or thinking that the characters were stupid. Like Diane said at one point, "Oh there's an epidemic going on that's so bad, but you still found time to have sex on the rug?"

Like. I get that a part of human emotion means that when faced with danger or death and having survived it there is a large urge to have sex-- to prove that you're alive, or some ingrained instinct to reproduce because you could die and the species shouldn't die with you.

But couldn't they have done it in a slightly safer location?

I think that part of what they are trying to do is show that people get seriously messed up and do stupid things during disasters -- but I think they are doing a poor job of it. Aside from a few instances (the gas station episode was perfect, and what happens to Kelly, and to Ansel's wife), most of the time it's like:

Why are they still alive? How have they not just been killed since they're sitting there arguing about X or Y, WHEN THERE ARE VAMPIRES RIGHT THERE. This makes no sense!

      Marco Polo.

      Maybe.

      Hemlock Grove.

Watched the first season, I'm not positive what is holding me back from the second. But I've been filled with apathy to continue watching it.

      Teen Wolf.

      Maaaaybe.

      Fringe.

      Nah.

      Defiance.

I really liked the video game, so perhaps I should actually try the show. (Also I wanna play the game again. Maybe I should hook my PS3 up and shoot aliens.)

      Dollhouse.

I loved the first season, but something about the first episode of the second season quite violently turned me off of the second season. Not completely sure what it was. It might be that I just don't like Joss Whedon very much.

      Eureka.

      Too campy.

      The 100.

Once the second season is on Netflix! Yes! I'm very interested in seeing what happens with the mountain place.

      Humans.

Oh, I was going to watch the first episode of that and never did. I really should. Is the first season done and watchable all at once?

      Orphan Black.

I watched the first season obsessively. I'm not positive what is keeping me from watching the next one(s). Might be the same thing holding me back from Hemlock Grove.

      Warehouse 13.

I actually watch this occasionally with my roommate. I can only take a little bit at a time because I don't enjoy camp.

      Torchwood.

      No. All of the No.

      Sliders (... heh)

Nope, watched it as a child with my father. Not interested in going back.

      The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

      Maybe.

And tons more, just from the science fiction section. Except for Marco Polo. That's historical fiction.

Thank you for the suggestions. Aside from the ones that are firm 'No'. I might look at them. I'm very unlikely to look at Marco Polo, but I might. I'm not a huge fan of historical settings.

@Three-Eyed-Crow, I get the craving for Project Runway every now and then. Pretty clothing is pretty. But I'm also not sure it is worth it. I haven't tried the Anthony Bourdaine things, I might try...

To avoid TS-related mishaps I'd say definitely clear the log as soon as a room is vacant, time it out if an hour has passed since the last pose, etc etc.

      So.

On WindyCity Whirlwind had coded up the places code to grab snippits of things posed in them. So that people with post cognition merits would get them at random intervals based on gamewide activity, and would see things that had taken places in public places, right?

People TS'd in bars, dinners, and nightclubs via places code often. So if you had post cognition, wherein a public place, and the grid was active that night you'd have a fairly good chance of getting someone's TS scene suddenly shunted at you via your post cognition ability.

Whirlwind eventually had to turn the code off because people got tired of seeing TS.

ETA: I ❤ @Whirlwind, but he was a good example for me of: 'I can code this, but should I code this'.

      Alright.

I need something new to watch -- preferably something I can watch a full season at a time (I don't do well with weekly episodes anymore, netflix has spoilt me, also I'm forgetful). I just need something to break up my X-Files marathon.

      Anyone got suggestions?

(Framework of things I enjoyed recently: Sense8, The Strain (in theory), Chopped (shutup), X-Files (obviously), um. Farscape. I wouldn't say that I enjoyed Stargate, but I've been subjected to it recently and have mostly managed only get upset over the fake science a couple of times...)

@HelloRaptor Don't be an idiot, Raptor. The two shows are vastly different. Aaaand if you recall I did complain about some of the personal drama-- there were times they cut away from Nomi to focus on Lito being a moron, and I didn't care for it.

Less personal drama, more vampire fites.

I just finished Season 1 of The Strain. I think that @coin may be correct that it is just a downhill journey. I got to the point where I literally fastforwarded large parts of episodes. I even skipped the sex scene. Don't know how long it was or if it was titillating or not. "Oh, they're about to have sex? Lame. skip."

"Oh, it's another scene about how senile Maria's mother is? skip."

      "Oh, another flashback? skip."

"Oh, another moment of Goodweather being all anguished and conflicted. skip."

"Oh, they're talking about Dutch [redacted]ing? skip".

    • RE: Welcome to Night Vale OTT/Short MUSH?

      Hallo!

There are a few things that still need to be worked out, however, those interested can log onto darkwater.mechanipus.com 8000. I'll be around in the afternoon and evenings this week (and much more next week) Pacific time. I'd like to maybe talk to folks this weekend to see what we can come up with for things. A few things to think about:

      • What system?
      • Regular MU* style, or more tabletop style (weekly or biweekly sessions).
      • Themethings: In vs Out of Night Vale, and if In Night Vale -- original citizens or outsiders like Carlos? (No, no PCs that are of The Sheriff's Secret Police, sorry!)
