    • Welcome to Night Vale OTT/Short MUSH?

      Hullo!

I'm thinking of maybe doing a short Welcome to Night Vale-inspired mini-mush or OTT over the summer while my class load is now (thankfully) low. I can't say that it'll last too much beyond summer time, but maybe!

      Is anyone interested?

Okay, so a new minor version has gone up and I've set up an instance of it you guys can poke at before I transition to it for the main site. You can log in normally, but it's a db clone, so posting there won't post here and vice versa. You can check it out here.

Unless there are major concerns raised, we'll be shifting over to the new version in a week or so.

Use the empty net bags (used to hold fruit/oranges or vegetables/onions) to cover small plants so that the deer won't nibble.

gnash teeth If you want to terrorize your local JoAnn's cutting counter person, go ask for an entire roll of tulle. You can put it over your plants and keep the deer out. Bonus points, if you especially look for tulle that has obviously been cut before and ask for the rest of said tulle, so they have to unroll all of it to measure it, and then get pissy if they don't roll it back onto the board the way it was rolled on by a machine. Because, you know, bent tulle over your plants is a crime!

      @VulgarKitten @Luna, well.

The forecast has changed (again!), and now it says it'll be only 97 tomorrow and Thursday, and drop to 93 over the weekend and Monday we'll even be at 88!

I guess the storm helped some, maybe?

Two weeks of bloody 90-100 degree heat. And it's not even July yet.

I didn't move to the northwest coast to live in hot. I came for 300 days of rain and wearing shorts in 60 degree weather.

      Augh. Yes.

I'm afraid to look at the weather forecasts. The last time I did it said it would be 102 degrees in freaking Oregon. >_< Grr.

Not sure Women of the Otherworld is a YA series. I couldn't stand the TV show as I liked the books, maybe if it wasn't for that.

Most of them are Romance. I think Savannah's book is YA, at least one of the beginning ones. She might have gotten one when she was older that wasn't YA.

Aaaaannywise. I preferred "Bitten" (the TV show) to the books. In the books the main female lead is suuuuuuucch a cunt.

This is on my list. I need to finish Continuum and Walking Dead, but it's on my list.

I think I was sold on the 'oh shit I'm being beaten up, let's the badass Asian lady kickboxer take over the body and beatdown my attackers' preview.

Sun is f'ing amazing, yes. Sun, Wolfgang, and Nomi (in my opinion) are the best. Kala and Capheus are the best people, but the other three are the biggest badasses.

@Misadventure I really enjoyed it. Seriously, Sun is the baddest badass I've seen on TV in sometime. I could watch her beat people up for hours.

Secretary: Would you like to leave a message?
      Sun: A message?

      SMASH

That aside, some (mostly) non-spoilery thoughts/comments:

      1. Like I said it is incredibly slow at the beginning of the series. With a few moments of action put in.
      2. Skip the opening theme. It's kind of lame. I get what they were trying for, but it's just bad.
      3. There are some pretty graphic sex scenes in this series (including a telepathic orgy), so it really is not a family show.
      4. Late in the season there is a 5 or so minute long (I think) series of graphic birth scenes (I mean, you see the babies' heads coming out of vaginas). So you may want to skip it if you're squeamish.
      5. There is some blood/violence but most of the gore is pretty low key (there are scenes where an arm or a hand gets cut off, but it's mostly so fake that it isn't really awful).
      6. I'm not entirely sure how to phrase this so just going to say it: Nomi is a male-to-female transgendered woman with a lesbian lover. This character is awesome. However, at the beginning of the series they briefly explore Nomi's mother being completely in-denial/bitchy about it, and it could be potentially triggery for folks who have been or are in that kind of situation. Nomi is amazing, however.

Anyone watch Sense8? I want someone to gab with about the sensates! I want to be Sun Bak when I grow up. Or Wolfgang. Or Nomi.

For those who haven't heard about it, Sense8 is a Netflix original scifi thriller, about eight people around the world who become connected telepathically.

      The roster is:
A white male cop from Chicago. (Will)
A transgender woman from LA. (Nomi)
A male van/bus driver from Nairobi. (Cepheus)
A female DJ from Iceland. (Riley)
A male thief/hit man from Berlin. (Wolfgang)
A female pharmacist from Mumbai. (Kala)
A male actor from Mexico City. (Lito)
A female business woman from Seoul. (Sun)

It starts out really slow but has some awesome moments as it ramps but and the last couple of episodes are awesome. Graphic birth scenes aside.

Expect a lot of tits, ass, and at least one dick scene if you watch it.

I think I'd just be happy with someone who didn't insist on going to a fucking farmer's market on D&D day. We can go shopping any day of the week, but you have to have a fit because I don't want to go during the six hours out of the week I have set aside for something I like to do?

I can't believe I've dated two different people like this. Best breakups of my life.

That's when they learn to go to the farmer's market by themselves. Or earlier enough that it won't impact your D&D game. (If possible)

I would say that being a coder or knowing mushcode does not make you able to modify ajobs. Ajobs is a beast of a thing that doesn't like to be messed with. Even if you do know mushcode and are a veteran coder to boot, Ajobs will chew you up and spit you out. That's how annoying it is. Really, the only people that know Ajobs are those poor souls who for whatever reason bring that soul crushing hell upon themselves willingly and work through the code.

I cut my teeth when I first began coding "seriously" (as seriously as I do anything mu*wise), on features for aJobs.
