After a certain amount consumed at once, parts of your liver shut down and accrue damage as the poisons aren't being processed. Drink enough often and it happens fast.

this gets compounded by things like: if you drank so much you have to get your stomach pumped, and that happens several times within the span of a couple months; and/or, for example, drinking when you're so young your organs are still sort of developing (which can be until your early twenties).

@coin It's getting deeper. I'm not sure it will ever have larger appeal because it's so easy to not understand wtf is going on at times especially if you miss out a scene here and there, or even an entire episode.

The wonder of modern television: just go back and watch what you missed.

It's not like we live in a time where you have to wait for the fucking thing to be in syndication so you can watch it all over again.

One part of the issue I've had lately is people "want" to RP, but they don't want to be responsible for any part of the generation process.

They don't want to come up with where, what, or the set.

They'll ask me if I want to RP.
      "Okay."
"Where to?" or "What should we RP?"
...like you asked me. Why do I need to come up with it all now?

When I approach someone to RP, I generally try to have something in mind to RP. A goal in mind.

This is why most of us hate BaRP. It's meandering, pointless.

It's why I personally generally don't reply to the call for 'anyone wanna RP?' in OOC Lounges because 9 times out of 10 when I do, it's followed by them wanting me to come up with the where and what.

Like hey, if I have a where/what in mind, I'll put up a call for RP. If I'm responding, the onus should be on you to have those things in mind, damnit! Hell, if you have a where/what, I'll generally even set!

The correct response to "Anyone wanna RP?" is "What did you have in mind?" If they say, "Oh, I don't know, whatever," or something to that effect, or even worse, "I was hoping you'd have something!" then your answer should be "Then no, I don't want to RP [with you]."

      <.<

I'm sorry I don't respond to RP requests with the exact phrase you want, Coin!
      GAWD

NO MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD FOR YOU!

(okay that's not true I still wanna use her once I find just the right character why has that been so hard MEW ilu)

      lulz.

you gotta admit, tho, that answer is pretty apropos. >.>

Post-Apocalyptic Free-For-All on Godhood, first there gets to be Top Dog (err, God).

I'd highly recommend a look at Halfworlds from HBO Asia. Basically scions with gods removed/out of play, they compete to gain rare gifts that come down from the removed gods sporadically.

If I can find it, I will.

      Scion?

      This.

I wasd talking with @Thenomain the other day about this. A Scion game where the gods are dead, their essence spread out, and you play a Scion who is slowly building themselves as a god--carving out their niche by concentrating their Legend in certain traits (instead of them being innate). You would basically get the same amount of "favored stats" as everyone, instead of it being unfairly balanced towards certain more powerful gods.

Post-Apocalyptic Free-For-All on Godhood, first there gets to be Top Dog (err, God).

Or not, but it would be fun.

    • RE: Book Recommendations

I'm still enjoying Riordan's stuff. His climax to the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard was a little bit underwhelming, to be honest, and The Trials of Apollo, while conceptually interesting, don't really do it for me. But they're still well-written and I continue to enjoy the world he's built. I think the problem is he spent so many books with Percy and Annabeth as the main characters that he hasn't really been able to build anyone else up to that level. When Percy and Annabeth show up, there's a different energy in the narrative. I can't find if he's announced anything new after The Trials of Apollo (other than his Rick Riordan Presents imprint) so that's odd.

I started class again so I don't even have time to read, anyway. Bleh!

    • RE: Roleplayer's shower thoughts

I used to have a list (short, about 15-20 items) that I knew about every character I made, including favorite color, favorite type of music, do they do the dishes after eating or do they let them pile up, etc. You can extrapolate a lot from little things, too, so it makes a good cheat sheet when you don't know how your character might react to something--

--just check the sheet and see if something similar (even if much more mundane or menial) is on there and extrapolate to figure out a likely reaction!

@streetwitch Can you please clarify what Scry does in practical terms?

If you can take a glimpse at a room (basically a remote 'look' command) that's pretty much fine, else I'd be worrying about OOC privacy.

Your game seems to be developing nicely, keep us up to date!

I mean, I guess if all it shows is IC poses, it wouldn't be a matter of OOC privacy?

Still kinda sketchy, but not so much if everyone going into the game is aware that that is a possibility, I guess.

      All over a haircut.

You mean, all over a sister who had the nerve to disrespect family.

Either Brando or Pacino would've had her head stuck into your parents' bed.

Sometimes I'm super petty about stuff.

I would have just stopped going to get a haircut there--and if she came to dinner, I would have asked her to pay for her meal (and I would have paid for everyone else's, if that was the usual way of things).

I like it less knowing that it comes from Cosmo given the quality of a lot of their advice.
But it is going into the bag with "Adversity does not build character, it reveals it." As a line I will over use in the future.

Again, more of a life maxim--it doesn't actually come from Cosmo as such. A lot of women first read it in Cosmo.

I think this is one of the best quotes I have ever seen.

Less a quote, more a maxim. But it's solid life advice (even if the most common place to find it is magazines like Cosmopolitan, which leads to this sort of asshat behavior).

I don't care if you're a fucking saint in every social interaction offline--if you're a dick online that means you wanna be a dick and think it's funny. The degree to which that's a problem varies widely.

Whether a person is considered a "dick" online is a conclusion often made from too few interactions, and subject to a wealth of biases.

None of us are saints here, for example, but I would not say all of us are dicks online or offline.

I'd like to be as non-judgmental as I can about folks. It's the least I can do. In return, I try to be positive and avoid connecting when I'm in a pissy mood. I'm not perfect in my interactions with folks, but I think very few people would call me a dick, even if I've flown off the handle a couple of times.

That's why I said the degree to which that's a problem varies widely. You can be a massive dick and a horrible person, or just kinna dickish in general but otherwise tolerable.

...how many hours Zuckerberg is likely to get grilled by the senate today. This is the real popcorn for me, y'all.

Look, the guy is a billionaire at 33.

Think of how many times the rest of us have been grilled by bosses, pissed off aunts, inept managers, civil servant bureaucrats, etc... over nearly nothing. 🙂

When this guy is done getting bitched at - if it happens, given the campaign contributions many of those same politicians hope to continue getting in the future - he'll go back to his super mansion. He'll be a'ight. 😛

      Right.

I mean, let's say Zuckerberg goes to jail (I don't even know why he's getting dressed down, but let's say he goes to jail) he'll go to like, one of those cushy jails, where his life will be a hundred times more cmfortable and full of amenities than mine, as a free person, is.

      So yeah.
