This dorkface greyhound is Rock.
The racing tattoos located on the inside of his ears indicate he's from Ireland, however he was found by a Canadian Humane Society group, rescued from neglectful owners who tried to keep him outdoors in the middle of winter. Greyhounds have no body fat, and even though Irish dogs have a slightly thicker pile to their fur, they still suffer when exposed to extremes of weather. He was transferred from the Canadian group to the greyhound rescue local to me.
He was the second dog I looked at. BestieRoomie is the one who drew him to my attention. Within a few moments he was leaning against me during our introduction and I knew he belonged with me. Unfortunately, the rescue didn't know a whole lot about his training (or lack thereof).
Rock loves walkies, running, treats, doing this thing called 'roaching' where he lays on his back with his legs straight up in the air, and contorting his body into yoga master level positions. He's really smart but also sneaky, he loves to steal things and deposit them in the yard. He also hates crates. He doesn't bark often, but when he does it's quite load, and otherwise he moans, groans, whines and chitters. Small furry things are for killin'. He's usually very popular at adoption group volunteer booths, and one lady likes to call him her favorite "Ambassadog". He does a shimmy dance when you scratch his butt and loves his neck and ears scratched.
@Shayd: I'm...not really sure what thralls or Thrax has to do with this? Yeah, you ICly and OOCly made an assumption that didn't work out well for you. The lesson of that incident is: don't make assumptions. The bi-erasure was not on purpose, but it still happened. I It doesn't make you "bad" it's just a lesson, you've learned it, time to move on.
Oaths are taken extremely seriously in Arvum, so much so there is a deity dedicated to oaths. Polygamy (NOT polyamory) is anathema. So honestly if your fellow expressed how much he loved several people and that had been that, I doubt he would have had much reaction from anyone, at least not publically. People's personal opinions of polyamory are just that, personal, and are not relevant to the broader social morals.
But he mentioned wanting to MARRY all of these people, after which he asked for the hand of one of the most elligible, high ranking women on the continent. Basically, it's like he decided to appear on Sister Wives announcing that he wants to live by the Principle, and then turned around, called Obama and was like, "Hey, can I marry Malia?"
Hey man, I've made no secret of having gone through what I have - I'm diagnosed with social anxiety, major depressive disorder, and PTSD. If you don't have the money to seek treatment and any necessary drugs, there are resources online if you google something along the lines of 'free mental health care' and the like, that may be able to provide assistance. I would start there if you don't have good enough (or no) insurance coverage.
I do want to clear up one of your notions, though - you say that this isn't about physical health, but actually, it is. Keep in mind what's going on with you is chemical. It's happening in your brain, which is an organ in your body. And even beyond that, your mental health has an effect on the rest of your body and your ability to self-care.
Basically, to summarize Veronica Mars, a diabetic is not stigmatized for their insulin, you should not be hassled or feel upset about what you need to make yourself well. All that's different is the organ that's malfunctioning.
@Arkandel I will say you are doing yourself a disservice by avoiding Hidden Figures. I actually think it's a crime that Taraji Henson wasn't nominated for Best Actress.
When @reimesu's son was born I was one of the first people to take care of him. I'd had previous experience with babies, but not newborns.
So one day I'm changing him, and...yeah, you can guess what happened. Golden fountain! Right in the kisser. And he looked so damn smug.
I plan on waiting until he gets married so I can tell this story at his wedding about he peed on me solely so I can embarrass him. He owes me at least the good grace of being mortified!
Addendum to add:
He is 68 lbs of awesome greyhound, 6 years old come January, and originally bred in Ireland for coursing rather than racing. He was sold to a Canadian, most likely intending to race him, and there is some suspicion that he was raced illegally a few times. At some point he got adopted/sold to someone in Vancouver, who kept him out-of-doors all the time, with only an unheated doghouse for shelter. He was rescued by the Vancouver Humane Society before being sent to to the greyhound adoption group located here in WA.
Now I have no excuse NOT to photograph Rock, y'all in for it now.
So yo, co-worker, if you're gonna start talking about World Bank/Rothschild conspiracies, you are not going to stop me from informing you loudly that the whole premise of said conspiracies, particularly where the Rothschilds are concerned, is big ol' flamin' anti-Semitism. kthanxbai.
I generally prefer setting in the same world but in a different location ie, "But there IS a Hellmouth in Cleveland!", or in a "same rules apply" scenario where the FC's don't exist and are replaced by the PC characters created. The one exception to this are comic book settings, if only because there are so many characters to choose from that are "special", whereas anyone who plays on a purely canon with FCs game from most other properties are going to be in a battle royale for particular FCs (Teen Wolfers, take note: I WILL FIGHT YOU FOR LYDIA.) Add to that the politics and favoritism that can come into play when it comes to approving applications for Features.
Sometimes crossovers can be interesting, but universal rules really do need to apply in order to make them work, unless you build in some reasonable way for all the ways to work while co-existing. And that way, friends, lies Project Infinity. Nobody wants Project Infinity.
I feel super lame because my automatic response to the notion of Johnny Depp as mayor was "who would vote for him, considering his history of domestic violence?"
Sometimes I need to just snap my reality suspenders and move on.

@Arkandel Nice, but all female characters have an expiration date. It's just a bunch of hunky dudes and women who get too close to them and burn up, like Icarus and the sun.
/pours a 40 for my girl Jo
When I was a little kid, I saw a Time Life photospread in which white horses had been set up to look like unicorns, like the ones out of Legend. As a result, I was convinced that unicorns are real. I remarked upon it in my third grade class and got into a huge argument with my teacher about whether or not they were mythical.
Look, obviously I'm going to be a Xena clone with a badass chakram and an awesome singing voice and a metal bustier over my little leather mini romper skirt dress. I'll know all the cool people like Caesar and Cleopatra and Abraham and Ulysses, and will bang both the God of War and my adorable blonde sidekick.
I can do that, right?
Actually, he was a big part of what made an otherwise fun environment go seriously sour. He had a habit of shredding apart anything that other people enjoyed, beyond the point of just not liking it to insulting it (it's okay to not like things, BUT DON'T BE A DICK ABOUT IT), used to passive-aggressively snark at players and staff on channel, and was, imo, generally unpleasant to be around. I only rp'd with him when I had to, and when I realized he was making me reactionary and falling into bad behavioral habits, did my best to keep my contact to a minimum.

We have one. It's called the Hog Pit and you can call someone a deplorable piece of shit that you wish would have an unfortunate encounter with a Greyhound(the dog, not the bus)
HEY.
@Faceless I would upvote you, because it's a cute story, but the Lannisters, I mean really.

Jumar was ICly unreasonable about his issues. OOC I was aware he was provocative and angry about his opinions on Grounders, and would be a bit grating to those whom prodded him about 'getting over it', instead of being understanding. The only PC whom was really bad in interacting with him was Cole, because the two had very different opinions on Grounders. This had nothing to do with me being a 'shitty player' or not, this is people thinking that the character was shitty..
Jumar was frustrating and antagonistic as a character and that's okay. He was meant to be, and the sad part is, if you had been decent to be around OOC, I for my part would have happily RP'd with you more in that tone of dealing with an antagonistic personality. But your behavior OOC is what drove me (and a lot of others, I think) away from you, and I don't think it's a matter of you missing social cues and not understanding why it was happening - you just don't give a shit.
