@Ghost If you're looking for a generic system suitable for a wide range of settings/games, why not consider TinyD6, MiniD6 or even-- my personal favorite-- QuestCore?

At one time I was thinking about doing a Star Trek game with this system but I ultimately gave up on the idea for the same reason that I gave up on FATE and FFG Star Wars: the system is very "GM-centric". It works best with a small group of experienced players with oversight from a competent, inspired GM. Also, I couldn't find a single compelling reason to use it over, say, LUG Trek or Decipher Trek (which is more or less just a mutant D20 system, which many people already know). I just didn't think it was that good. I also own Conan but I have not read it yet, so have no opinion on that version.

      Just my two cents. YMMV.

Have spent the entirety of Christmas Day so far chilling by the fireplace with my laptop working on code. Best holiday ever!

      Merry Christmas everyone!

    • RE: The Work Thread

I'm the only single employee with no kids at my facility so I am usually the one who gets stuck working on holidays. This year they did something different, they asked for a volunteer to work on Christmas Eve. When I didn't immediately volunteer, everyone else in the room turned and looked at me expectantly. Now, I had already resigned myself to working on that day but I was still annoyed. I felt like the poor guy in the cartoon where the commander asks for a volunteer and everyone else takes a step back >.<

On the bright side, it's an easy quiet day at work and I am getting holiday pay for a full day, even though I'll only be working for 6 hours.

I am happy because for the first time in 42 years, I have been able to make it all the way to Christmas without hearing 'Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer' even once.

Speaking of checks in the mail, we had been told nearly a month ago that there wouldn't be any Christmas bonuses this year due to 'financial hardship'. The mail man showed up today with a registered package and what was inside? Our paychecks, plus Christmas Bonus checks! Alas that $1007 is probably going to just cover my AMEX bill this month but it's still nice that they cared enough to give us something.

I'm in the camp of 'ain't got shit to do' for Christmas. I've decided to work Christmas Eve (so much I gotta do ;.;), but I'll be home all day Christmas Day. Probably packing, but up for distractions.

If we play on the same game(s) and you would like some RP on the 25th, feel free to gimme a nudge.

      Same here.

Our side had Thanksgiving this year so the rest of my family is going to their in-laws for Christmas. I could have gone with but to be honest, a quiet day off sounds pretty damned good to me considering I've been working 60+ hour weeks for the past month! Hopefully I'll get to spend at least a part of the day with the SO. If not then I guess I'll be spending the entire day working on my AresMUSH project.

    • RE: Old Republic Star Wars Game - FFG System Poll

@Lotherio Yep yep. I own most of the TinyD6 stuff. It seems ideal for a limited run game but not for a MUSH.

Edit: Belatedly I realized that you said "MiniD6" and not "TinyD6" but the same applies.

    • RE: Old Republic Star Wars Game - FFG System Poll

IMO the FFG system works very well with a small group of players and a competent, motivated GM. It is probably not a good choice for use with an online game šŸ˜•

My own Star Wars AresMUSH project uses Savage Worlds, which I chose because FFG wasn't suitable, D6 was too dated and I hate D20.

Just noticed this on Win10 this morning. At first I thought it was because the time on my PC was off (I dual boot Windows and Linux and Windows doesn't like it when the clock is in UTC) but I closed the app, fixed the time, restarted it and the timestamps in the tooltips were still off.

Alas I have been unable to reproduce the crash problem on demand. If it happens again I will try to remember to take a screenshot.
