The Force Awakens was a dumpster fire. I sincerely did not enjoy it. Start to finish. There were a few 'moments' in it, but I struggled to finish it.

The Last Jedi I managed to sit through without thinking 'huh, I wonder what else I could be doing with my time'

Then again, I didn't like Batman v. Superman or Suicide Squad either, so I'm clearly not a judge of what makes a movie good or not.

The Force Awakens felt like a fan's attempt to make a Star Wars movie based around their own OC where their character just is AMAZING and everyone loves them and they are the best.

The Last Jedi took those characters and turned them into flawed individuals who weren't superheroes. They were kids playing with powers they didn't fully understand and making mistakes. The whole theme of the movie was learning from failures. I thought it got the point across well.

The Force Awakens felt like a Mary Sue Fanon Extravaganza.

The Last Jedi was a good movie.

The scene in Saving Private Ryan when the German slowly stabs the American to death going 'Shhhhh', if I recall. Or something like that.

@collective There are many RP things that are burdens. It just depends on the player.

Bar RP? Burdensome.
Massive drama fests? Burdensome.
Leader PCs who just TS all day? Burdensome.
Poor RPers who just want to inflict themselves on everyone? Burdensome.

Don't throw out the baby with the bath water. If someone can effectively play a racist/sexist/whateverist PC let them. If they cannot, don't.

If you get rid of every negative character trait for PCs you will wind up with bland, boring, nice little robots.\

ETA: I understand that discrimination sucks in real life. So do murder, and rape, and hate, and many many many other things. But we can't remove all the negativity of the human experience from games.

IC discrimination is IC. As long as it doesn't bleed OOCly and is not unthemely you should just let it be.

@ghost I've been on this board since way back in the WORA days. I've watched it grow and change, but the one thing that always kept it grounded the Hog Pit. If you take that out then you cut out the core of what this community was built on.

Just like gentrifying a neighborhood, you drive out all the locals and replace them with hipsters and lattes.

That's a good idea. If you close the Hog Pit I for one will leave. So there's a bonus. Then you can close whichever section bothers Ghost the most, one by one, until nothing is left.

@surreality I second this motion. Those of us with jobs/lives should definitely be forced to fall behind those who MU* all day.

Edit: Sorry, I did not mean to imply people without jobs do not have lives. That was inconsiderate of me. Let me rephrase in a non-sardonic form.

I disagree with your comment because my life-situation prevents me from MU*ing as much as some and it would lead to my PC (and others like me) to fall behind drastically.

I try to decide what might get me the most booty. Then I make it.

I think the Mods are doing a fine job. If someone starts a thread talking about how something is 'worse than Hitler' in the constructive area I can't imagine why removing it would be a problem.
