@Auspice That's awesome and I'm a bit jealous, hah. I've been meaning to get back into game nights, but haven't wanted to go to one alone.

Bad TV: Locke and Key - No spoilers edition

1.) The lead child actor is terrible. Teeeeeeeerrible. There's lots of good child actors out there. They did not pick one.

2.) Oh, I know! Let's give one of the villains a mental illness to explain why he does craaaaazy shit. It'll be edgy! Because BPD totally makes you kill people.

3.) Supernatural horror? Pfffft. No way. Let's make it a teen fantasy drama.

4.) The writing is stilted and uneven. The characters do stupid stuff for sake of plot instead of organic reactions to situations. Important things are ignored so people later can go 'Buh?' when it's already been in a situation to come up.

5.) It pretty much uses the source material as a mask with the content being entirely different from the original theme.

I wanted to like it. I really, really did.

I've never thought about it much but this thread has me wondering if I have it.

I just see a void when I try to imagine stuff but I do have super vivid dreams. I can even read in dreams. I have had a dream play out fully in text before.

But when awake I just see darkness no matter what I try to imagine.

@SinCerely Just mark up the prices enough to make a profit regardless of how it fluctuates. Find the lowest price you can sell at and still make a profit at your peak cost and set it there.

I'm enjoying the second season of Altered Carbon so far. It's been a bit of a disconnect and the non-Earth setting makes it a bit harder for me and while I don't think it measures up to the first season I definitely don't consider it bad.

The strength of the supporting cast really carried season 1, and season 2's supporting cast is a bit weaker. (Simone Messick's hair triggers the fuck out of me. I don't know why. She's amazing but I can't get past that visual choice for the character.)

It feels like there is a bit too much 'weeeee, look at these superpowered fights for no reason!' in season 2. More action, less psychology.

But on a more serious note, I don't think I could ever enjoy a Firefly game again after the shitshow that was SerenityMUSH. It was so poorly run and the playerbase so toxic that I can't even enjoy the TV series/film anymore.

Unless reviving this thread somehow, in a roundabout way, creates more drama.

@Aria Oh I did. I told them exactly what happened and they're supposed to throw the book at him. After that murder near my work last month by a homeless guy they're taking it seriously.

So far I haven't had any bites. Come on people.

Someone pointed out to me the fact that Modern Nights still exists, though it isn't currently open for business and likely won't be for the near future.

I asked the guy running it if he'd allow me to sandbox there, as the game has really awesome code (A fantastic cgen, for starters. And the hunt code is great. Allegedly.) and he agreed.

So I'm going to try to round up a few friends and run a nomadic-style RP troupe set in the 1980s vaguely inspired by the film Near Dark. I've got a few folks locked in right now but there's room for a few more if you're interested. I'll be running regular plots and anyone who isn't a donk is invited to join in.

No real commitment is required. If you make a character and just show up you can at least get some casual RP in, even if you're not involved in any plot foo.

Bumping this. I backed the game with the top tier, so any of you living in Austin are totally welcome to just play with me. But the rest of you need to back it.

So... not only is my job potentially ending soon, but I was physically assaulted today. Headbutted, shoved, my glasses knocked off, and then the guy grabbed my arm and was pulling me towards the road saying he was going to 'throw me in traffic' when the cops arrived.

Everything is not coming up Milhouse.

I think I finally hit the wall. I am at a point in my life where I see absolutely no way forward. I see no way to improve my situation that is within my power. I have goals that are entirely unreachable and most of my waking moments are consumed with negative thoughts.

I ask this as a non religious person but... Pray for me. Please.

So... I'm spiraling, folks. Wish me luck.
