I can confirm that Modern Nights' code is pretty damn awesome. CGen is a bit wonky but kind of cool, though.

@Coin Yeah. It's why I said nothing is perfect and devil's advocate and all that jazz. The good part here is that a dedicated new player can catch up to a week 1 dinosaur.

And otherwise, you almost never can. Even if a game has 'XP slowdown' vs a cap, a newbie is still gonna be churning away for months upon months upon- likely never pulling it off.

I would go so far as to suggest that the system works best if the "Auto XP" is regulated depending on how far away you are from the maximum.

Let's say when you chargen the maximum is 100 XP. Grand. You are 90 XP away, which is over 50. Maybe everyone who is over 50 XP away from the max gets 3 Auto Beats per week (or whatever). When they are between 30-49 XP away, they gain 2 Auto Beats per weeks (or whatever). And then when they are between 0-29 XP away, it drops to 1 Auto beat per week (or whatever).

This is similar to what happened on The Reach (which gave you more auto Xp per week the further away you were from the highest XP on the game). This would help newbies catch up faster but also not have them do so at a rate that's just ridiculous.

There's a ton of ways you can tweak my suggestion to cater to the usual complaints without bending over backwards for them.

Apnea? I know people with that and I breathe just fine when I sleep. My breathing is, as a certain politician might say, 'The best. The biggest. Yuge. Stable genius breathing.'

I am gonna look into that though, I was unaware that might be a potential thing.

Part of the sleep study is a full neurological and EKG test throughout the sleep period. They put a crap-ton of wires on you and on your head to study brain-waves as well, so even if it's not apnea, they likely will find something if it's neurological in nature.

Regardless, the waking up every night needs to be resolved, as it interrupts your alpha waves in sleep and that's no bueno.

I've taken in people before, and I've been taken in. It can be a mixed bag but can make a very big difference.

If I had the space I'd probably be willing to take someone in but, I don't... in fact I am nailing down some job experience here before buying another house down in Florida this time.

But good on people who are willing to help others out.

I do not live in Austin or Texas at all. Have you tried meetup.com? I have used it in 'friend slumps' (when y'all are too busy or too sick of each other - haha) or when I've moved to a new city and didn't know people. It might be worth a try to find people of similar interests.

It wouldn't be that difficult to have multiple games on the same port, you could even use different code for each you'd just have to differentiate the commands so as to make sense.

I remember there was a GI Joe and Super Heroes mixed game, and Tarterus had like 3 games on it I think...

I just wish I could actively use more ports though, then I would build all four of the ideas running around in my head, and open them all at the same time.

I find that once I meet and spend time with someone RL I have a far more generous read of their tone and behavior than I would otherwise.

If we have different perspectives on certain ethics (such as CoI) once I get to know someone I have a more nuanced view (also aided by the fact that I know better how to start the conversation about something that is bothering me) and do not feel as autodefensive as if I have no frame of reference.

It doesn't mean I don't understand when behavior is shitty. I once reported face to face RL friends to Sunny because of cheating issues amongst other things, and that in part detonated many of those RL friendships for nearly a decade, others never recovered, and most were changed.

But I disagree that online behavior should be seen as an accurate and sum total reflection of a person. I think it's a snapshot. And can be concerning. But there's a greater context most of the time and so I disagree that it should be taken as the "truest" reflection.

I'm on fallcoast regularly and the wolves are really active. For social rp, there' a lot of mortal activity as well.

I'll agree there's a lot in the works right now. Due to this, I'm trying to branch out from my White wolf/paradox world of darkness games and get into other IP's. Star wars so far.

      Karmageddon

      For the conspiracy theorists: http://www.allnewspipeline.com/They_Are_Preparing_For_Something_Huge.php

There are a lot of people hearing alarm bells going off in their heads with the recent announcement of multiple Walmart Supercenters closing, all at once, in multiple states (some of which are states being prepared for the Jade Helm military exercises), all claiming a "plumbing" issue, with recent news of some type of underground tunnel projects involving Walmart and DHS.
      ...
Over the last year Caterpillar has shuttered multiple facilities with the claim of consolidation, and now some Walmart facilities are closing in Florida, California, Texas, and Oklahoma, with no notice given to employees, citing "plumbing issues," yet major news outlets report that no permits had been applied for by Walmart for future repairs.
      ...
In a previous ANP article we quoted a former military man as stating via email "Walmart's are outfitted with extensive communications, communications that are identical from store to store and even country to country," stating he believes "the primary purpose for Walmart's, similar stores and malls will be for supply depots for military and initial staging area for local civilians to be processed (clothes ID's etc.), then moved to sanctuary's/FEMA camps after processing." He continues on to point out "the delivery entrances and storage are already set up."

A former Navy Seal also shares his take on the underground tunnels recently reported on, stating "The tunnels are already in place. they are using the 6 months, which brings us into September, to clear the places out and configure them for supply depots, communication hubs and pre-processing centers."

      Misadventure

If only there was a way to use a small group vs the setting made up of other small groups game in a small group to small group way.

Really it just abstracts everything and lets the players and ST fill in details only as needed.
