If this forum is to be believed, then it's a problem on Arx too, lol. I seem to remember various iterations of -- who was it. Cullen? Being mentioned as problematic all around.

Cullen's specialness had little to do with the roster system itself.

And, yeah, I think we can recognize that WoD players, by and large, are special folks.

      I'll be elsewhere for now.

Never pressured anyones character to be something they are not, that specifically didn't happen.

And that's something that I did not specifically accuse you of. My post was in response to @deadculture, not you.

So, good? It still sounds like you don't get it, which is okay.

And, yes, a personality conflict is a very good reason to ask someone to leave a game.

Weinstein was one of the most powerful men in Hollywood and it was his job to develop movies, find talent, etc. He choose to utilize that job as a way to get his rocks off at the behest of the women he knew he could take advantage of. I basically want to shove this into the face of all the people spouting that whole "they used him too" party line.

I'll bet they'd say the same thing about teachers who coerce their students to have sex with them to improve their grades. Both sides benefit, right?

I was talking emotionally and mentally, mind you. If full custody can do that, I want to re-think my life.

Well, you know me: I like to attack points with as much humor as I can muster.

In this context, the comment does seem a little back-handed. But the decision was the correct one. Staff could have ignored him, kept entertaining his arguments, and continue the fruitless interaction; however, they chose otherwise, quite wisely. I see no stink in that, even if there may have been a moment of puerile ear-tweaking.

But, yes. You can free someone by granting a wish or by doing something beyond their wisdom. It doesn't make you a guru or a saint, but it is what it is.

Persona 5 has been, so far, a fun, refreshing, interesting JRPG.

I haven't said that in a long time. Whereas FF15 wandered closer to Western sensibilities insofar as play controls and dialogue goes, Persona 5 remains unabashedly Japanese.

Gameplay is a little frustrating, but it makes sense after a while. It eschews the "open world" concept for a linear storyline, but there are a lot of mini-games and decision-making moments as you try to build your character with limited time. There are also a lot of little parts to it that make it seem more complex than it is.

Highly recommended, if you like popcorn-fun and can tolerate JRPG dialogue.

I don't think that's a bad idea at all, for the reasons stated above.

But, to be frank, I'm tired of trying to come up with ideas for making World of Darkness games last longer. I did that for twenty years.

      I've earned my break.

In fact, when asked in an interview Sapkowski did not canonize the games or say that he considered it an alternate world but that he considered it a new piece of art inspired by his works that should stand on its own.

Still, I am overjoyed that he is involved in the Netflix series.

I bought a PS4 and the first game, and I don't regret it at all.

I have been treated to a flurry of games that just blow my mind. Horizon Zero Dawn is horridly addictive.

I picked up The Witcher: Enhanced Edition or whatever. I definitely understand what people were talking about with the combat, it's clunky and relies heavily on timing. I've not really had any issues with it myself, but I definitely understand where folks could have experienced some.

The clunkiness is nothing compared to some of the clunkiness of Horizon Zero Dawn, but you have to love that game for just about everything else.

I think an important distinction needs to be made about The Network, though.

      I don't think it matters.

I still think that a roster system would be helpful. If I ever develop a World of Darkness game, I will probably consider implementing one. The game may not last long, but we'll see.

Without trying it with genuine effort, we'll never know.

You had me come and help be mortal staff on Denver. We used to talk on... I wanna say ICQ or something old like that, you were running Denver, had me come on as staff. I was... Cherry, I think, and then you went poof like 2 weeks later. (In regards to you being removed from Denver's staff).

Ah, Denver. One of my great triumphs and failures.

Yes, I was removed there because players wanted resolution to an ongoing plot for which there was no planned resolution. That was deliberate, and provided the cause for a great deal of RP. Some people wanted their shiny crowns, and weren't above going to the game owner to complain about it.

My explanation did not seem to hold water, and that's fine. Frankly, that is how and why I distanced myself from the Ham Squad / Pillowfort. It was clear that they did not care for my direction, and thought the best solution was to get rid of me.

Peverel came afterwards, and burned out fast under the constant pressure of, again, resolving a plot that had no resolution, and was never calculated to.

And why? Because politics -- true politics -- has no resolution.

@arkandel said in Celebrities that are Dead To Us:

Absolutely. But what (I think) we're discussing here is whether a celebrity's image in our eyes is irrevocably scarred by something they did.

Scarred to the point where the person is considered dead, right?

Look, everyone can have their opinion on this. That's fine. I think it's foolish to truly admire anyone outside of your immediate, touchable group of friends and loved ones, even though it may be noble to aspire to be like someone else.

And I may be a cynic when I say that no one -- no one -- is beyond reproach. Everyone has sinned; everyone is vulnerable; but not everyone matters and not everyone is caught.

Al Franken took a negative and spun it into an unbelievable positive, politically. An inquest into him means an inquest into any politician -- Roy Moore, Donald Trump -- who has been accused of or caught in sexual misconduct. A failure to do so would be hypocritical.

But, sure. Perhaps he was wrongfully put on a pedestal, and maybe led us to believe that he should've been.

No one is beyond reproach. The higher they soar, the farther they fall.
