RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
Congratulations on your choice to get married. Be advised that your wedding day will be the subject of the complaints of the ignorant and the jealous. I can say that, without equivocation, no one who attended my wedding who complained remain in my life, so I look at the event as a tremendously successful weeding-out test.
The struggle will be deep and real between the two of you, but the adage will hold true: as long as you have each other, there will be no end to strife. But those trials and tribulations will ultimately make you both stronger, fitter, and more appreciative of one another.
I have many complaints of my partner, but none of them come close to the threshold of my patience. I hope you will find the same with one another. In my mind, that is what will distinguish the anecdotes from wisdom, and your love from false narratives.

Indeed.

Theno pretty much nailed it. We're lifelong nightowls. 3AM to us may as well be 3PM to most folks.
I love you, but --
-- this is how I feel about that.

Yeah, good point. And it's based primarily on the weapon, not the person. You'd have to think about how to deal with this.
If a particular kind of spell is considered a weapon, and is equipped before use, then you could have an appropriate skill keyed as defense.
You'd still only have one defense, though.
Edited to add: apparently, according to Faraday, I'm all wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

<holds hands up in the air> I did not make this rule. It's just how things have played out for the 20 or so years we've been together.

Some of us call that “noon”.

I have absolutely broken up with somebody before because they texted me at 3:30 am for some bullshit reason and woke me up before getting pissy that I told them I wanted to sleep. I had to be up at 6:30am for work, that was Not Cool absent a genuine serious issue.

To be fair, if my partner asked me to help with housework at 0300, I would probably strangle her.

My brain just exploded.
You literally are the reason I stayed MUSHing this long.
I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not; depends who you ask.
But it's nice to see you're still around.

RE: General Video Game Thread
Update on Dekker:
In the Argo mission, the opposition's Quickdraw pounded my Blackjack, sending one of my better gunners to the ground. I had to send in Dekker in his Spider to cause a commotion, which he did by attacking a Shadow Hawk from behind.
The Shadow Hawk and Quickdraw were not amused, and gang-pounded the Spider into the dirt. Dekker took 4 injuries.
Still. Did. Not. Die.
At least he'll have a modified Jenner (-2 M Lasers; +2 J Jets; add. armor) to roam around in when he wakes up in 100 days.

RE: Anomaly TrekMUX
If Star Trek games divide their crew into particular departments, then it seems reasonable that a BBoard could be used as a "report" repository as well. Timed-out reports can be uploaded into a Wiki somewhere for posterity.

RE: Heroes & Villains MUX
I wasn't taking one of the "gold star" PCs, but I won't be crest-fallen if my PC object gets recycled.

RE: Heroes & Villains MUX
I swear, I will come back and finish off my PC one of these days.

Until Arkandel comes back, that is.

RE: Changeling the Lost and/or Hunter the Vigil games?
It is also a game that has an absence of a lot of the negatives raised in another thread.
Powerful PCs? Hell yes. Is that a problem? No, because every player can have a high level character. Competition? Not really, unless you’re trying to catch Enid Schmitt’s eye. Great players? Fuck yeah.
It is a gem of a game, and made with so much love. Anna runs a nice ship, and we’re all lucky she still is.

Fate's Harvest has Changelings.

You can pull specific mechs out of a mission?
Poor wording. I meant "finishes a mission."
The Spider is the fastest Mech out there. When scouting, you basically need to run as fast as you can with someone with decent Piloting and probably the Sensor Mark skill. That's it. Keep running around like a maniac because stopping means you'll get mud-stomped by a Striker vehicle, and that's just damn embarrassing.
If the enemy focuses on trying to track your Spider down, they aren't going to last long when my modified medium Mechs come over the hill, I would love to see the opponents' reaction when the Spider zooms past my BJ-version of the Enforcer or gets rained on by my SHWK-version of the Archer.

RE: I know it's an old topic but to this day....
In brief:
Sui generis in American jurisprudence is a term of art used to identify a group of classification that arises independent of others due to its special characteristics. In application, it refers to the power of a particular entity that is unique to its nature; for example, a court's contempt power. When raised in a legal argument, you are suggesting that a particular case either is inapplicable because it should be confined to its own facts or because the instant case must be confined to its own facts. When raise by someone pro se, it means you're a fucking moron.
