It's not that I hated you all and was denying it out of spite. Everytime it was brought up, people would google-fu me with the plugin (that I found a long time ago) and it was never actually complete. I checked on it rarely, but it was WTFE's most recent request for it that prompted me to look again. Except for the lack of english translations, it seems to work fairly well. You can also go to your own user page and see the list of ignored users you have from the dropdown menu.

RE: Ignore users
Glitch writes a script to clear out @Coin's ignore list every 30 seconds.

Ignore users
So it looks like the ignore plugin was completed. You may all thank @WTFE for its installation. I don't know how well it works, if at all, but feel free to make use of it. There should be a little eyeball crossed out next to people's names on posts, and if you go to their user page, should be an option to "ignore_user" in the dropdown menu.

How-To Contest
Contest!
In the interest of filling out our How-Tos section a bit, we'll be having a content contest for the category. It'll be judged by @EmmahSue, @Thenomain and myself and will end June 30th, 2016. You must provide a link to the How-To in a response to this message noting that it is your entry. You may make multiple entries if you so choose, but can only win one of the prizes. This topic will be locked at midnight EST of the ending date.
Judging
While there are many MU-related possibilities for a tutorial, the following are criteria that will be used in the judging:
- Expand on a topic relevant to game administration: coding, building, wiki, jobs, etc.
- Cover a topic not already presented in the How-Tos category or offer a different approach.
- Provide links to sources of additional information if possible or relevant.
- Make use of markup (highlights, code-blocking, headers, etc) for presentation.
Prizes
First Place: $40.00
Second Place: $20.00
Third Place: $10.00All prizes will be delivered via paypal to an e-mail designated by the winners.
Questions?
Feel free to post questions for clarification or further information in this topic. Entrants, please make sure your entry is clearly marked when replying.

RE: The Shame Game
I still think you're missing the reason behind the shaming. There is definitely an element of shaming in many of the Hog Pit type posts, but it is punitive rather than rehabilitative.

RE: RPG Percentile Mechanics
@Ganymede I'd probably adjust the progression a little on this myself, but I like this system. It makes it a bit more beneficial to be a small bit better than someone and not as much benefit to be tremendously better, but as a quick and simple system, it's pretty great.

RE: Cultural differences between MUDs and MUSHes
@mietze I, however, do see the last sentence of the latter as a variety of metaposing that would turn me off from the person playing if I don't know them. To me, this is the definition of passive-aggressive metaposing. You're effectively insulting the other character with no way for the player to reasonably respond.
It comes down to trust and comfort. There are people that can powerpose any of my characters at any time or metapose freely. However, I don't think it's good etiquette to do so upon first meeting or before permission to do so has been granted.

RE: Base Code Question
@Lithium Diku and Circle are both written in C and neither of them use MUX softcode that I know of. If you wanted to make a more traditional MUX, I probably wouldn't say anything, but with your desire for a highly coded game, evennia is very much a better choice if you don't know C.

RE: Unverified accounts
@Insomnia Anyone that maybe made an account to read, and maybe keep their place, but never post, who has not verified their account, will be deleted. They can continue to not post if they like, after verifying.
This is solely for housekeeping purposes. If someone would like an account it must be verified, that is all. What they do with the account after that point is entirely up to them.

RE: Unverified accounts
If you can post, you're verified. You'd also see an alert when you login saying you need to verify.

Unverified accounts
This weekend, I will be going through and deleting accounts created before this month that are unverified (have not verified through e-mail).

RE: Changes to The Hog Pit
As @EmmahSue said, it is more about trying for a different focus than a direct response to our recent spate of darlings.
@Admiral
I think you might misunderstand. Hog Pit is where posts with high levels of vitriol belong, which means there should be commensurately less of it in other categories.@Arkandel and @icanbeyourmuse have the right idea, I think. The occasional topic move or split isn't a big deal, but it'll hopefully encourage thought about where you're making a response when you're considering how to convey your message.

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
@Apos I still feel like the original "baby with the bathwater" complaint stands, here. Deus ex machina level magic is not the only level of magic possible by any stretch.
@Kanye-Qwest A setting with magic and no system is still rather close to no magic at all for people that want to play magic users.
I think you can look at almost any Brandon Sanderson book for ways in which magic can still be an integral part of setting and theme without being the solution to everything. Some of his magic systems are a bit higher powered, but I'm also a fan of actual magic in a fantasy setting.
