RE: Diversity Representation in MU*ing
@Rinel I'm going to take a stab at this as I too have played on HavenRPG and I too have uttered the phrase mesbian.
What is a mesbian you ask? It is a man (you can define man how you like) who plays a woman who exclusively has sex with other women with a frequency and widespread selection to verge on fetish-y.
Why is this bad you ask? I would probably say that it's a little creepy / off putting when anyone walks a mile in someone elses shoes explicitly for hawt seches purposes and makes it painfully obvious that is what is going on.

RE: Selling people on MU*'s strikes me as impossible
Not to validate the OP but if we had 100,000 people playing MUs or even a million or more. Even flagship games like Arx or Iron Realm Entertainment couldn't possibly cater to that volume. Like let just say 10 staffers for every 500 people is the lowest you can go. For 100,000 players you would need 200 admin type people across who knows how many games. Clearly we need to begin college course training for game administration today to handle an appropriate % of the total population of the planet in 2050.

RE: Dice code
I don't know about everyone else but having the actual dice math can be an aid for RP. As a writer if I succeed at something I shouldn't succeed at and do so by a wide margin I might describe that differently than if I scrap by with a just enough roll to succeed.
Likewise if I fail by a huge amount vs a small amount on something I should be a master in that might alter how I describe the situation and what led to the failure.
Maybe I'm just a lazy writer and like to lean on RNG as a way to give me ideas but I certainly find value in knowing the # or a more gradient success/failure would achieve the same thing. I guess =(

RE: Question: Code of Conduct
Ex pat rates are on the rise!
More realistically the ability to create a competing forum with hypothetically more ethical moderators is easier than creating a country in which to live with a more ethical government. Also the barrier of entry to website ownership vs international travel is pretty spread.

RE: Avatar / Korra game considerations
If you base it off the comics that game out after the first show there is political tension in the aftermath of the Avatar the Last Airbender. There was fire nation colonies in the earth kingdom and both water tribes were crossing the world to get to each other. I think instead of ba-sing-se you do a region of the earth kingdom with the colonies and this means coastal which means water benders could be showing up for whatever reason.
Justification for everyone staying they just got out of the hundred year war and everyone is super on edge the fire nation is going to revert so I was going to visit my granny in the southern/northern water tribe but I see trouble brewing here and I am a 'veteran' of the war so... I'll just hang out a bit.

Steam Summer 2015 sale, beware!
Steam's Summer Sale begins in less than 2 weeks. I want to personally urge all of our text-based gamers out there to please buy responsibly. We don't want to lose you to a pool of insanely cheaply priced (and amazing) games for 6 months. Remember to properly bath, get enough nutrition, and most of all read the review section on those games before you buy them. Lots of crap games on steam right now!

Don't abandon your text-based games for these pretty pretty tarts!

RE: Constructive (keyword) Criticism of Arx Systems
TLDR - I think runs of a command are misleading in terms of what engagement really is. Some commands are the culmination of RP, choices, and other command runs and even though there are less model coderuns doesn't mean the engagement to reach that coderun was not high.
Per engagement
Praise is something everyone has and despite the # it still sends a little message you praised them and you can leave a message. It's a low cost way (1 ap) to show your support, favor, encouragement, whatever to someone. My praises regularly produce 10 per and I still use them every week because of the 'feel goods' they give to the receiver.
Haggle is an underutilized and misunderstood system. I would also expect it to have less coderuns than praise/work because you need a resource to engage with it. +work and praise generate something. Haggle converts 1 resource into another and costs AP.
Modeling now requires groups to be efficient but beyond that I do not believe 1 coderun of modeling represents low engagement. A single coderun of modeling for even a single outfit could represent 3+ craft commands and a +event to attend or organic large scene to crash. If we're looking at higher end modelers it appears a lot of them involve crafters so for Sabella's cane that was haggles for materials, crafts for creation, probably RP scenes to discuss the design, possibly refines. Getting the money maybe Sabella has that kind of scratch laying around, maybe Josephine did it pro bono but I would ASSUME some +works were done for resources to sell off. Long story short I believe model coderuns represent more engagement than just 10 coderuns were done vs 100 haggles vs 1000 praises vs 10000 works.
+work makes the world go around. @actions use resources, investigations use resources, resources can be sold, econ can be used to get materials. I pay my proteges 30 writs a week now just because it allows me to on paper pay them more than my ducal lord stipend allows. Arguably I think +work was the best change but that low clout commoners get kind of shafted. It would be nice if you allowed commoners to use their patrons to assist their rolls which would remove the 'need' for the protege to be the clout provided. Now high clout patrons of all ranks can be sought out.
Example lets say Preston was protege'd to Edain. Well Edain wants to support the Faith he's the Oathlands High Lord so when Preston goes around seeking commitments of favors to help rebuild the templars why can't the fact he's Edain's protege help HIS work rolls?

RE: Avatar / Korra game considerations
Sign me up for Pre-sozin, while Roku (spelling?) is off training but before he's fully the avatar.
EDIT - Alternate history the Water tribe invades the world as it is primarily made of water and they just control all the coasts and rivers with a watery fist!

Artists and Artsy People
Hey,
So this morning a friend of mine was asking me about some graphical stuff. Well he was asking me to ask Hex (my GF) about some graphical stuff as she is a professional designer. In the conversation it was revealed that photoshop would be required to do the task that they wanted. Thus you end up with the age old do you pirate it or buy it problem. That's crappy for adobe and crappy for potential users but Hex had a solution.
This is an open-source and free competitor to adobe. It has replaced adobe in one notable art school in Europe and has a vibrant and active community. So if you guys are ever needing something more powerful than MS Paint, this might help you out. Also Griatch from Evennia is featured with an interview over there https://krita.org/item/interview-with-griatch/

RE: Table-top campaigns online
The biggest issue I have with online tabletop is the feeling like my players are not 100% engaged. The downside to them being at home is pets, kids, spouses, roommates interrupting. There's also those people who get easily distracted and are playing a MU or watching a show or something in the background while being a player in your game. Out of the dozens of games I have run the feeling that I didn't make a compelling enough session is probably the most consistent thing with online vs in person. You really have to just trust people won't show up consistently if they didn't enjoy it. I find that voice over text (which is preferred by most of my players) helps this because people tend to be more engaged when there's tabletalk than when it's all just text RP.
I also always go big with my groups and trim the fat to account for the online vs in person chance of falkiness.

Pro-bending post-Korra by enough time means Pro-bending with airbenders.
Assuming they don't all choose to be ascetic monks.

RE: Phoenix, Arizona
Phoenix has some great restaurants I would check out the food scene.
I would also check out the Phoenix Zoo if that is something you're into.
If you like drinking there's Mill Ave and Scottsdale Old Town.
There's also a weekly art walk, you'd have to google that Phoenix Art Walk where you can check out street artists and the like.

RE: Mobbing in Text Games
It's no biggie, I don't know who you are and it's solely my own pet peeve with MSB culture I guess you can call it that. I am a big advocate that for a hobby based on communication that players seem very resistant to just having a quick chat. Like if it devolves into fuck you and fuck you, sure that's bad and conflict can be anxiety inducing for people but... At least then you -know- it was intentional instead of a miscommunication of text/tone!
EDIT - I see now my usage of 'you' in the abstract is causing reading problems.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
If you like but an opt-in public @handle doesn't need much explanation. Especially with no requirement to link character to handle and no limit on # of handles.

RE: Personal Agency for Personal Boundaries
Meandering thought post, but to clarify.
I am making the argument that because the function of +nope (or the proposed system in this thread) is already available. There isn't a 'new' risk being introduced. It is merely staff informing their playerbase that yes you can do this without being censured. So it is pro policy discussed.

RE: Resources for Self-Isolating People
Discord has upgraded their live screen share feature for servers from 10 to 50 users on a server. This is intended for group activities both in entertaining children and running virtual classrooms. It is 100% free.

Pick on someone who needs help while 'explaining' things to them which is like explaining rocket science to an illiterate with mocking thrown in!

Mastubtory heckling of an asshole lacking all self awareness that is ultimately pointless because they lack self awareness.
