@auspice so... The shitty one and the not bad but not great one? I can't begrudge Luke Cage, but yikes.

@apos I can confirm there are several people, myself included, who no longer find it productive to even mention criticisms about games you and Hellfrog are involved in. Those players either attempt to avoid your attention or opt not to play games you have significant say in.
Is that something you should consider?

Maybe Spider could help at Arx, and then we'd see if she and HF are similar.
lol nah, not really. If you feel there's no point to your criticisms feel free to save em.
@arkandel said in criticism not allowed in ad threads is only enforcing a false positive, prove me wrong:
heno's, or Arx staff's
FOR ONCE no one was talking about Arx, and you ruined it. You ruined it!
@thenomain said in criticism not allowed in ad threads is only enforcing a false positive, prove me wrong:
Okay, done in a moment.

I really think you should just reflect on that
I have been.
You might have your underwear in a twist over that 10%, but your disingenuous harping on it is just drawing this out.
Ditto to @Meg .
(edit) Making a new thread for you two, because you seem to want it.
Honey, NO
you are both being ridiculous and not fooling anyone who is not also as irrationally salty as you are.
My stomach hurts for you. Just stop.
@gangofdolls Sure, that's true.
But no one running a game is under any sort of obligation to do that. That's my only ?? here, is the assumption that it is either "Staff is patient and understanding of a person's issues and self-sacrificing in their continued willingness to work through that and any further occurrences" or "staff is a bunch of hypocrtical, malevolent weasels".
These are the two positions presented in this thread, and I just kind of think they are bullshit. It doens't make anyone evil if a person goes off and goes over a line and frustrates people with flailing and they just decide they'd rather not deal with that in the future. No one has to be super happy about it, but it isn't EXPECTED that people who owe you nothing and get nothing from you should sacrifice their fun and intentions for your drama.
Is it nice if it happens? Sure, for at least one of those parties. Is that a reasonable expectation? No, no it is not.
And I assume the expectation is that your partner will be there for you the next time you need someone to treat you wit patience and some indifference? Because they are your partner?
in no way is this relevant to the relationship between a roleplay game staffer and a prospective player.
you suck
wait, this is mildly constructive
you don't /rock/
I mean I agree that having different 'reviews' in the ad threads is helpful, but people are not great at not devolving into personal criticisms? HABITUAL LINE STEPPERS ON THIS BOARD
@thenomain said in Spirit Lake: An Original Modern Fantasy Game:
My use of terms like “weasel” maybe qualifies it for the Pit, but I was and still am pissed off at any staff group that has hidden rules for what constitutes what kind of response they will accept to a lecture.
Dude, seriously. I have no idea what was said between the time you bowed out of the public questions channel and the day plus in between then and now, but I saw what happened ON it and you are being disingenuous af. You were told basically one billion times to just cg a character you wanted to play NOW, and not worry about specific mechanics that won't be relevant for half a rl year at best, and had it very clearly explained several times that they didn't want to support in depth mechanics supposition, and that some things were not planned and other things were not permitted ad infinitum - and you were an obstinate pain in the ass about it.
If you actually got lectured, you asked for it. I'd say maybe you don't realize how frustrating you are, but you admit to it? So I guess just : if you want people to try and read you, learn to read other people and maybe step back and have a coke and a smile when you are not communicating well with them.
*edited to remove an errant 't' from 'pain'
Super not appropriate for an ad thread according to the standards of the board. Flag on the play, extremely excessive salt
@roz oooh I was gonna upvote but spreadsheets? YOU DO YOU and GRATS I GUESS

I hate OOC rooms. I find them spammy and overwhelming and difficult to break into. It's like being an introvert trapped in a permanent party full of people I only vaguely know.
I have no idea why channels feel so much less intrusive to me, but they really, really do.
I don't have data on this, obviously, but if people are idling on grid and someone wanders up and poses at them, it seems like a 50/50 they might say screw it and pose back and get into an rp scene. If they are in an ooc room, there's no chance of that. Also I had really horrible experiences in ooc rooms on other games that I do not have in channels, though this might admittedly be because A. i am a staffer on mostly all the games I log in to so I am the boss of channels and B. you can leave a channel!
MOAR LOKI
Babybraum's friend used to be almost as big as he was!
@meg There usually isn't one. Someone will end up feeling slighted one way or the other, just gotta do the best you can.
I do this thing, whenever I schedule something I am obligated to run for people. I fret, I worry, I think it won't be fun for them, or for me, and I generally dread it right up until it is almost over.
But sometimes, you manage to make the mechanics work out, and they aren't so much that they are stressful, and players seem to be in to your emits and how you set the scene, and they are buying in, and striving, and being POIGNANT and HILARIOUS and AMAZING and you realize you are having a blast. GMing a large combat scene.
That never happens to me! But it did tonight and it was great.
Everybody has limits! No shade at all in acknowledging yours and protecting yourself. It's a roleplaying game that got more interest than expected, it's not like there was a scam or a ruse involved. Being disappointed makes sense but let people live.
