It might be difficult to avoid someone with 15 alts, especially if they are prone to making/dropping them with no notice.

This is an interesting point. I've met a lot of really awesome rpers that couldn't get into the 'meta' plot (IE attend GM events) in MUs because of time zone. Feels bad, man, but I'm not sure how to fix it other than trying to recruit a staffer for that time zone.

The real ? here is that bisexual male characters are totally welcome, but no female characters. Only 'emitted'. So I guess the done thing is to puppet a female character for bisexual gratification purposes?

It's easier for me to define what I absolutely am not looking for in my rp environments:

1. Children. I don't want to rp with them, I don't want to rp about them, I don't want to rp with child characters, and I DEFINITELY don't want to rp with a super sexy coed that has the mind of a 7 year old teehee, or a super sexy vampire coed that is really 5 billion but looks 14. Teehee, m'lord. I am a vampire. HALF.

2. Sexual slavery (or slavery in general, since sex slaves are the only sort I've ever seen roleplayed. I mean, I guess no one wants that fraught master/random person who mops floors in the facility dynamic). Nope. No. No thanks you.

3. The requirement of multiple references to CG a character.

4. Anything too Fandom-y. The most insane group of biggity bitches I ever tried to roleplay with were the nerds playing LOTRO.

NOT JUDGING, just saying I'd think that kind of flakiness would lend itself well to high concept games that are super fun for their target niche until the interest burns out.

If I have been following this correctly, don't you start up games and then abandon them pretty quickly? Not judging, just thinking that kind of obviates the arguments about 80s or other specific things being too niche.

Just for the record, at no point in this thread have I been at all upset or emo. I couldn't give half a shit about some jimmy-rustled rando wishing harm on my anonymous kid if I tried. I found it hilarious. Deadculture's feeble negging attempts are not hilarious, but they are forgettable ( I actually had to go looking when you mentioned dogpiling), so all's good.

But in seriousness? Wanderer was coming off like a dick, and that whole "I know what's what and you never will because unlike you, I can brain" shtick is reprehensible fedora speak. Hence the downvote.

@Arkandel You could argue Arya's been fighting 'evil', to a degree, but I think her entire arc since she left King's Landing has basically been "Arya gets into wacky criminal hijinks".

I don't know. Having extensive policies and warnings and an explicit process for defining whether or not someone is being an unfun dick just seems to me to give people ways to weasel out of admitting they are being an unfun dick. Ohh I didn't realize, no one else I page detailed descriptions of my dick to seems to mind. I've never even heard a complaint! Oh, you've talked to me about this before? Ahh, well, I appealed that talk and so now I'm only at the step 1 warning so I guess I will do what I want until I'm at step 9? Ass covered? I guess?

It seems to me cleaner to have a reasonable staff(er) be the disciplinarian. Kind of a, if you do something dickish but it could be a misunderstanding or maybe you just don't know any better due to changing game cultures, that person will ask you to cease and desist, and then if you do it again they can just tell you that you aren't a good fit and to hit the road. Or, if someone does something really, truly reprehensible to another player, you can just give them the boot right then. No letting them linger through warnings and appeals, likely paging their victims the whole time to pressure them to recant.

I think better is pretty hard to define when it comes to things like "how to police a pretend fun time game where nothing really matters", but I can definitely say which style I'd prefer in the games I personally play.
