@Jennkryst I have seen a handful of other MUSHs way back in the day use that voucher system, even a recent WoD game had a version of it but I don't remember the name of the game or who was coding it.

RE: Echoes in the Mists - CoD 2e MU
@Rinel From what I've seen and heard, Mage in 2E is a lot easier to get right and much faster to learn than 1e Mage was.

RE: NOLA: The Game That Care Forgot
@Jennkryst I have to admit I love Shadowrun: Denver's systems. I often times log in just to make characters with their character creator but I was never really able to find a group of people to play with with the two characters I did make and get approved. I never Staffed back in the day on WoD or Shadowrun games but as a player I enjoyed the discourse back and forth with justifications with Staff because it felt like sitting down with a tabletop GM and discussing things out to explain why and how. Things now adays feel so impersonal especially since most Staff are no longer story-tellers.

RE: Discworld: The MUSH
My question is is there a game system behind it or is it just a freeform?

Talking about vampires, I actually picked up the 14 year old original Vampire the Masquered Bloodlines recently and installed the 'fan patch' that fixes stuff and improves the graphics.
It is actually really damn good? A few sections get iffy especially if playing as a social character (looking at you, sewers full of monsters and only rats for blood) but I am now super hyped for the new one coming out next year even if it has been delayed.
Yeah, but even social characters can get powers that affect combat which I thought was a nice touch. I have yet to beat the darn thing as a social character because the end boss is a biatch.

I think this thread talked me out of Outer Worlds, but in its place I need a good game to foolishly waste money I don't have on. Currently eyeballing Pine and Greedfall. Can anyone condemn or recommend either?
Vampyr is pretty nice, and I think it's still on sale on the PSN.
The only problem I've had with Vampyr is that the normal mode is a bit reliant on really good reflexes which is a bit hard to do with how clunky the game can feel at times with the animations. Some of them feel a bit inconsistent in timing so I get frustrated.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@gryphter Greedfall looks okay, it's just unpolished and with the playthroughs i have seen once you get into the second half of the game it becomes a bit tedious in the combat.

Where things are SUPER complex to code, we do notes (like you wouldn't want to code in something for Professional Training that automatically sets contacts and specialties and stuff; in a video game taking PT would open a wizard of some sort to do that but in a MU* that's not as practical).
I mean I've seen MUDs do that, they drop you into an editor where they present you with options, you record your answers to the prompts and once the editor closes it runs all the things you selected and apply them. I've never seen a MUSH do it, but I bet if someone really wanted to you could code an editor like that in.

Weiss and Benioff announce exit from Star Wars Trilogy.
Same day it is announced that they are no longer part of Game of Thrones prequel.
Proooooobably a story, there.
Looks like they wanted to focus on Netflix: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/29/business/media/weiss-david-benioff-star-wars.html

I second the request for spoiler tags. The game's only been out three weeks, and not everyone a) has $60 to spend on it, or b) wants to give Epic or Microsoft $60 for it. (Or even has time for it.) Chillax, y'all.

@Arkandel
30-35 hours of total gameplay to complete the main quest and all side quests. For a sixty dollar game in this genre that's pretty damn short.Oh man, I hadn't seen that in any of the reviews I checked, might have to wait to get it until it goes on sale.
ETA: @Jaded the only EA game I might buy is Fallen Order. I don't really like to support them after their bullshit parlor tricks in front of the UK commission hearing.

@RDC Side note, CDPR are very thankful to their consumers for allowing them the opportunity to grow as large as they have. During E3 and Gamescon this year they hid secret messages in their trailers that led to stashed webpages with secret messages of declarations of love and well wishes to their community. https://www.reddit.com/r/cyberpunkgame/comments/byrbs2/secret_message_from_the_cd_projekt_red/

RE: Serious Question About Making A MU
@HelloProject Personally I love the FATE dice system as it does a dice+Aspects system that is flexible and usuable for any sort of tests that need to be made. They are six sided dice with two + sides, two - sides and two blank sides. Its a very simple system that rewards creativity and outside the box thinking inside the game mechanics themselves and I think it makes a great rpg system for non-combat oriented games

Didn't CDPR also like. Send a private investigator to threaten a youtuber. I feel like that's the main thing they take flak for, but people want to MAKE the main flak they're taking about not having trans options in character creation. (Although seriously, games, start allowing trans AND nonbinary options.)
Another thing I liked about Outer Worlds: your appearance options are not particularly limited by whether you choose male/female. My character is female but has a stylish stubble beard.
A thing I didn't like about Outer Worlds: my character would not be female if there had been a 'neither' option.
Wrong company. CDPR has nothing but treating the consumer as correctly as possible. Its 2K games you are thinking of https://www.pcgamer.com/2k-confirms-sending-private-investigators-to-borderlands-streamers-house/
ETA: The only games I have been playing for the last two years are Indie titles because all the triple AAA stuff coming iut recently has been monetized bullshit. The Outer Worlds and Cyberpunk are the only AAA games I have been waiting for and I am so stoked for both of them. I havent gotten my hands on outer worlds yet but all the reviews are glorious so woooo

RE: V5 Roll20?
Yes it's Vampire the masquerade 5th edition. @Thenomain . @Ghost There is several I assume but none on days that work for me from what I can see, the only WoD games available on my days are 20th edition or chronicles (2e)

V5 Roll20?
There is a similar posting (https://musoapbox.net/topic/2534/v5-online-tabletop-via-discord) but I was wondering if there was anyone out there interested in running a V5 campaign over Roll20, or if you already are if you have any openings?

I'm not a fan of epic or their launcher, I'd rather use Origin. So for me, anything going Epic exclusive is a hard pass.
Having experienced some of Origin's weirder quirks, this reads to me a little like "I'm not a fan of having a fork stuck in my eye, I'd rather have it stuck in my foot." I mean... yes, fair, but I'd prefer not being stuck with a knife in the first place.
I get what you're saying... but...
This alone turned my opinion right around on Origin, LOL.
Yeah, I will grant that Origin has bizarrely fast download speeds compared to other storefronts. And I still use it, too; there's games in there I want to play (Anthem included), so I suffer through the occasional weirdness ("Sorry, I'm going to have to verify those game files before you can play; this should only take 30 minutes." "You wanted your cloud saves? LOL NOPE." and so on) to get those games.
The fact that I cant play The Witcher 3 on PC (a game that can be played entirely offline on console or through GOG) offline after buying it thru Origin made me say fuck Origin and I rebought it on GOG

RE: EPIC vs Steam
@Ortallus I like the idea of exclusive deals between store fronts that time out. It creates competition, we've already seen this before in the consoles, it has always done well for sales on both platforms. They just need to be more clear about these things and more transparent. Don't offer preorders before you know if you will be exclusive, if you're offering preorders, don't sign exclusivity deals. They'll still take your game, it's more profit either way. Epic nor Steam should have any exclusive restriction on what they will sell in the long run, but making one or the other come out first is fine. In a way consoles have competed with PC in this regard, coming out with games that they never bring over into the PC gaming market but eventually one gets made.
