This reboot's staff has been problematic. Not for you. For friends of mine.

Not sure who has had problems with who, but we've certainly shown a fair number of people the door, and put a stop to some things that we didn't want to see on the game.

Some people might not agree. But it's our game to run, and if we see a problem, we'll intervene in it.

A more important question, why haven't I seen an ad thread for it?

@Ghost kind of a shame that this type of things happens, because in rp on muds the emotes can target and when they do the other person sees you/your/yours, so coming over to mushes after a long career mudding, getting things in that person rather than talking third person is just more comfortable and normal, and has nothing to do with an ic/ooc line. I blame armageddon and evolution of esos for making you and your the norm and third person feel lime the other player may be talking about a different character than mine.

I have played on a couple of MUDs where you had to be careful about using 'you' in a custom emote, since there was also a coded emote system to input character name and it output 'you' to the receiving character. a few times stealthed people would assume they had been seen and just murderhobo the fuck out of someone and technically they were justified.

I think 2E is actually a bit more complex, with all its various factors and reach. It's more uniform, in some ways, but even individual spells have reach effects.

The thing is, 1E had those things, but -you- as a player had to figure out how to apply them. in 2E its spelled out for you more plainly.

Characters are ENTIRELY extensions of the players, whether it's sex or not.

      Okay, let's test the hypothesis.

Folks, please be honest (if you want to be). When it comes to TS how much are your characters' preferences typically an extension of your own OOC ones?

I don't mean that just in the vanilla way - i.e. that they have the same sexual orientation as you do - although that can apply as well. More specifically, whatever your kinks might be, do your PCs tend to have the same ones or not?

For me personally, I use my characters to experience the kinks I cannot in real life, either because they're technically illegal or amoral, or because I just don't have a partner willing to fulfil that thing, or just no partner in general.

@Sunny I may take a look. I loved the base game and did... I want to say nearly all the class quests, because they were all worth doing. But I got bogged down in a WoW-cloney endgame experience that, well, wasn't as good when I'd already quit playing WoW.

Is the f2p leveling related stuff problematic? I recall there being something about xp gating or whatever when they swapped over. I don't mind paying some money but I also don't really want to do a ton of grinding to get through the storylines.

For SWTOR? The main thing was subscribers could sit in Cantinas and build up bonus xp so they could level way faster but I never really had a problem getting to 40/50 as F2p in a reasonable time. I think I hjad to do a bit more sidequesting per world than a Sub did to progress through the main stories solo instead of with a group but it wasn't egregious. The main thing I wish I could have had Sub for was the free premium currency for the cool skins.

Re: various werewolf renown issues - I kind of have a solve? And this solve works a lot better in 2e than it did in 1e, since gift costs don't go up with each level, and you don't have the 'skipped a level' tax.

The solution? Every Gift (except Auspice/Moon Gift) must be purchased. Raising renown would no longer give you a free gift. Renown, then, ought be discounted to reflect this.

@Auspice said in Echoes in the Mists - CoD 2e MU:

am i the only person who thinks 1e mage is easier than 2e mage?

Probably not, but possibly unfounded? The issue is that 2e came up with a bunch of new terms, but the root of things ended up being mostly the same. Kinda. Ish. With some Ascension flavor of paradigm thrown into the mix that I love, but I'm weird.

That and the math is like three times simplier at the end of the day to figure out if your custom created mixed spell is a legal spell in terms of the magic system. The flow chart from 1e is about 50x more complicated than a 2e flowchart for legal spells.

@Ghost The first person I TS'd with did the you thing, it was something I 'learned' early in muing, but it wasn't just for TS, basically any time I went into a one on one scene I went to 'you' posing.

This used to be WAY more common in two-person scenes, sexytimes ones or otherwise. I remember it being the norm when I started in the ancient times of the late 90s but even then it felt like...close to 50/50 in terms of whether people used it or not or liked it or not. It's one of those unspoken and not entirely intuitive 'rules' in the hobby (the big one I generally think of is posing in present-tense).

I personally always got less immersed than more immersed because I'm roleplaying with a character, not me, so when I read 'jacks off your cock' I'm over here like, ain't no one touching me, you're touching Jack Reacher.

@RDC So if you and I were to (have characters who) TS'ed it would be, in part, you and I having a sexual experience between each other as OOC entities?

I mean, yes? Is a regular scene two players engaging in an activity of roleplay? Okay add sex, now its sexual roleplay. You are still both engaging in the activity as players even if the characters are the ones smashing bits together. You as OOC entities need to come to a consensus on what is allowed to be portrayed and what you are not going to deal with/interact with which has nothing to do with a character. To harken to a thing that everyone buzzwords about the very obvious example is dubious consensual scenes, they are akin to rape and often in real life if consent was not specifically given we tell those.people no honey that was rape. And yet it happens in RL a lot and most folks are not going to conaider it as not breaking their norape policy even if both parties agree OOCly it was consensual

@RDC as a new 2e WW player I think its a little complicated (and I read the character creation stuff like fifty times and read over the renown area like half a dozen times and didnt see anything about it there either) but conpared to the exhaustive list of 1e and 'Do you have this this this and this prereq? Kay you can get it' ts pretty simple. The problem I really have with the game though is none of the wolf gifts seem that great compared to the shadow gifts and there was some really neat Mother Luna FatherWolf gifts that I dont see a replacement for in 2e

Oooooh good dangerzone question there 🙂

Can't remember anyone asking me if I agreed to logs containing adult material was logged.

I have had someone ask to log before and I was like uhh.. sure? I don't really care, but I also didn't deem them worthy so didn't follow up with a secondary scene.

I considered making a thread with questions like this, stuff we don't usually... ask. "What do you TS for?" would be high on the list.

But I'd be tempting fate there.

I thought you did make a thread with this question, or something similar.

[...] when I went on the 1e games and shouted 'Behold! A 1e sphere to add!', people kept going NOPE.

Because nWoD Mummy is not set up for persistent game play. It's quite possibly more of a story game than Promethean. I personally think it would do the game a disservice.

I doubt this will still be the case for Mummy2e, since there seems to be a lot more care within Onyx Path to cross-balance the games.

That is true for quite a few of the 1e games, but people still force them into a game (Like Promethean for example). In my opinion, in this era, let people play what they want to play, most folks tend towards the cooperative rather than the competitive these days, people are starting to learn its about -everyone's- fun not -their- fun, so let them have their moments of their fun by letting them play what ever dumb shit they wanna do.

I mean, with how GMC was written, couldn't you take the mechanics of Mummy, hotswap the mechanics of Core 1e with GMC (as was the point of GMC and why it felt so weird) and still technically run Mummy as a 2e? Also, why are these publishing companies doing kickstarters and not just doing preorders?
