RE: Random funny
i will say it here, too. that isn't mixed messages. that's a literal child. if that is giving you 'mixed messages', you need help, @Carex. like, legit help, boomer.
g e t h e l p, please.

RE: The Dark Side of online Role-Playing
@tek yes.
eta: also adding, holy shit. that post. there are not mixed messages there. that's a literal child, my dude.

RE: The Dark Side of online Role-Playing
because nothing bad happened to me, definitely nothing bad ever happened because of this style of parenting, and it's definitely the right one.
ok boomer.

RE: The Dark Side of online Role-Playing
@Carex right? which is what was being suggested?
eta: eh, i'm done with this. you are a troll. you also went to suggesting that the same people who might not want their children TSing online, also would TOTALLY BE COOL with their kids on a WoD mu*. I doubt that.
AND ANOTHER THING, if your response to 'don't TS with minors' is 'well, you can't control other adults on the internet'-- like, wow. fcking wow. no, i can't control you, but still. don't do it.

RE: The Dark Side of online Role-Playing
@Carex holy shit, there are so many red flags in your post, mate. like honestly, don't TS with minors. it's a simple concept.
-
RE: The Dark Side of online Role-Playing
Honestly I don't know what you are trying to argue now. Let children TS on the internet? O k.
-
RE: The Dark Side of online Role-Playing
You can say it is abusive to control anything that your children do, and it just isn't. Sorry. Telling them when to go to bed, when to take a shower, when to do chores, etc? That's all part of being a parent.
Telling them not to sexually interact with strangers on the internet is also not abusive. Do you want to be sexually interacting with a child, @Carex? I'd hope not.

RE: MU Things I Love
ok, ngl, when you do a funny thing ICly that only you noticed. or well, it was funny to me.

RE: The Dark Side of online Role-Playing
I definitely had grown-ass adults take giant fucking steps over the line of acceptable ways to interact with a 15 year old online when I was 15 and on MUDs, even when they knew I was 15. Or especially when they knew that.
But none of them lived near and my mom was freaked out by internet people so it's not like I could ever meet up with them.

RE: The Dark Side of online Role-Playing
@Carex you can learn your sexuality and interact online in such a way without interacting sexually with strangers. which was the whole key point of buttercup's posts. i mean, idk what to tell you if you want to draw conclusions based on what you want to hear.

RE: The Dark Side of online Role-Playing
in what world is like-- don't engage (AS AN UNDERAGE PERSON) in a sexual way with people you don't know who they are online an abusive stance? w o w.
pure troll.

RE: Armageddon MUD
@faraday if someone is sexually harassing a person that they play with on your game through MSB, i don't think the median really matters. you're free to have your own opinion. i respect that you do. i just don't agree.
eta: and i'm not saying 'every bad person in the world'. but is your job as a staffer to protect your players against the staffers you hired or the players you have on your game? i think yes.
-
RE: Armageddon MUD
'it didn't happen on the game' is the worst excuse ever not to do your job as a staffer.
doubly so if you are running an official discord for your game.
-
RE: Armageddon MUD
I think the multiple complaints from multiple women about the behavior of this one staffer has to be taken into consideration. Sure, this one single incident may be in question, but at what point does the amount of people saying it get taken into consideration? How many people have to tell you that 'this staffer is x' (choose anything for x that you might not want as behavior on your game for staff) before you take action?
Unless you bring up the strawman of 'well what if they are all working together to get someone fired'! Sure. If all the people are accusing are really close friends, that could be also taken into consideration. But if it spans people who don't know each other, reported often enough that it's a bit of a meme on the subreddit?

RE: Armageddon MUD
i mean, wot, m8. what even is he trying to imply.
i mean, i can scream and type at the same time? how hard i am screaming doesn't have anything to do with that; they are using different things. also like, what kind of screaming? because uh, it's coming off creepy, not sexy, m8.

RE: Armageddon MUD
@Jeshin oh, not staff. There were a couple people who suggested letting unbiased third party person screen share. But yeah, I do realize that a lot of new, random people wouldn't do that.
I would. Because I am all about JUSTICE and BURN EVERYTHING THAT IS TRASH. But. When I was new to mu'ing, I would have definitely just moved on.
-
RE: Armageddon MUD
i am curious if the accuser will come back and allow the screensharing option. given how many people have had this experience, i don't disbelieve her, but there's credible enough reason that it could be faked. if she screenshared with a couple of non-biased people, well.

RE: Armageddon MUD
@Crysta said in Armageddon MUD:
personally i'm betting it's gonna be another 'he said she said x30' situation
this.
also it definitely seems that one of the staffers has a fetish for calling women whores. despite you know, that not being in their theme from my brief glance over the game? gender equality; women don't get shamed for sexual proclivity if men don't?
