    • RE: Dom/Sub imbalance on MUSHes

Also, and I realize this is difficult, but it's also important to realize it's gameplay.

I don't have concerns about players who pop out mush babies and then ignore them in a 6 hour unrelated plot scene or barely ever give them screen time afterwards--even though yes, there are some extremely ill people RL that do leave their toddlers/infants alone in an apartment for 12 hours at a time to go get their fix/try to deal with all the other stuff they are having to deal with in their lives. I've been a therapeutic foster parent. A lot of my emergency/short term placements were from those kinds of situations. I do not get palpitations based on mush behavior around it because thank god most people are normal and it's just where they are focusing their gameplay in the time they have to play rather than needing to uphold some kind of educational example of the appearance of the real impact of parenting on screen.

I don't get upset about other people playing out rape fantasies in private. I don't get upset about people RPing out abuse in private. If they are look at me assholes who shove it down unconsenting people's throats, that's different.

The depictions of things on a mush are rarely accurate, either the Dudley do-right perfect version or the total hot mess of epic it would never happen version.

You know what also amuses me? The same people who scream about 6 week embryos having the same rights people outside the womb tend to also scream about real live babies born in the US not 'counting' as citizens. Also really pisses me off. However, getting a little too emotional here, so stepping off. πŸ™‚

    • RE: World (Chronicles?) of Darkness Concepts You Would Enjoy RPing with

I love seeing people play things that spur their imagination, so that they can pull others into their play beyond just an audience for their crazy antics. If someone is a dynamic (again, I make that a separate distinction from nutty PCs that are kind of more there in a Look At Me I'm So Crazy scenery chewing way) RPer, who includes reactions to others' poses in their own, allows their PC to be impacted as much as they wish to be memorable to others...then I'm down with whatever.

Concepts in and of themselves don't excite me too much, since the perfect concept can be played really really really shittily or in ways that make me want to gnaw my own leg off to escape the trap. Though I really do enjoy folks who have PCs that are a little more subtle (though man I am sure that can be frustrating, if you're playing on a place where people showboat whatever SuperSpecial stuff they have), as well as masquerade play, where you know OOC what someone is/to what group they belong due to wiki or whatever, but there is a lot of clever IC dodging and lie avoidance while also not disclosing things, until and unless there's something that prompts it.

I've really enjoyed the odd PCs I've played (my favorite was my psychic automaton creator, I got to spend time with folks in my shop and then make commissions/gifts; was starting to really get into my brash young car crazy mechanic too). Most of the unique concepts by others that I have really enjoyed were more about the inclusive writing of the player though, and the enjoyment to be had from peeling back layers on a PC whose player was just as invested and eager to get to know mine.

My turkey farmer had all his birds grow monstrous huge this year, so I have a 24 pounder and an 18 pounder this year! I'm thinking I'll freeze the 18 since while I do have a huge crowd this year I don't think we will need 40 lbs of turkey, even allowing for generous leftovers sharing! Driving out to the farm is one of my favorite tgiving traditions and I will be too excited to sleep much tonight because I love cooking big meals!

I have really enjoyed playing with pcs that do fit the "stereotype" (honorable, stuffy invictus, scholarly OD, creepy scary Rahu). The people who tend to pick that rather than everyone wanting the exception do tend to stand out. Though there's a lot of wiggle room now esp in vampire so it's really neat to see what people do with the stereotype too.

So the deep well pump (vs. the one that pumps from the reservoir tanks out to the circle of houses that share the well) is out and can't be restarted right now. So I haven't had running water at my house for almost 48 hours and probably will not perhaps for another 24-48. This is more annoyance/inconvenience than horrible thing because a) YMCA membership so I have someplace to take my family to take showers no questions asked and without incurring extra costs, b) due to frequent windstorms that knock our power out I have a good supply of potable water and toilet-flushing water on hand in case of emergencies, and c) wonderful kind friends who allow me to avoid the laundromat (why do power outage things and well issues always happen on the day I'm planning to catchup on laundry so we're all down to our last pair of clean undies?) and do emergency loads at their house.

So really all things considered, it's kind of nice sometimes to have things like this happen to remind me of how much I'm fortunate!

Now here's to crossing my fingers that I have running water back by Wednesday so I can get my holiday baking done to take around to people!

I think because there's a huge variance in assumptions by players, that's why I lean towards vague/non-committal answers in play with an ooc explanation to other players why I don't know, and a time limit before I independently decide to ICly and oocly move on.

We've had a rash of inexplicable downvotes lately. While I don't think it's horrible, it does seem to be kind of weird that the downvote is anonymous. It's why I don't use it, while I guess one could argue that just upvoting something is just as dumb, usually if I'm upvoting it's for support or agree which doesn't always mean I have much to contribute beyond an "I agree" or "Wow, that was said really well and in a way that I think is even better than anything else I could say" or "That was funny!" while if I am going to bother to express disagreement or whatever, I'd prefer to do it less anonymously and more outright.

      @Ganymede

Exactly. Believe me when I say that honestly a large part of why I'm doing what I'm doing, beyond my state, is for my cousins and their kids. They have suffered a lot and it's only going to get worse. That's what I tap into when I need to find my rage. Not at them. Most of the time. I do occasionally want to choke out the one with 6 children by 4 different men who constantly posts about how all the sluts who wear leggings in public to defraud all men are the reason why America's gone to hell in a hand basket. πŸ˜›

I've found that most people with some ooc encouragement and knowledge that even if they don't know you/you don't know them that you're wanting to share the stage are far more common than people think. But too many people exclude/don't bother to get to know strangers or are afraid of taking that first step because of course everyone else must be selfish unless they're a friend, and when you come into it with that viewpoint, that's exactly what you're going to get most times.

@Luna, I understand what you're saying and I agree. I find weight loss pretty effortless as long as there's no other complicating factors. However, learning how to cope with the other stuff if you were fat "for a reason" is not, and I understand totally when people don't do it.

Plus, honestly as someone who has lost 100 lbs before, very simply it did not make me feel better. I don't think I look all that better either. Obesity scars you physically too potentially even if you lose the weight. (Though it took almost a year of maintenance to get an idea of how things would settle and ended up being a lot better that it seemed initially). What made me feel better/be healthier was not the fact that now I guess a few more people might find me fuckable and I can buy normal clothes but the other work I did mentally.

So honestly if someone is happy with themselves (and part of that is being able to tolerate different bodies without feeling the need to be derogatory, imo) then that's just fine with me. No matter how much more fat/skinny than I am they are.

This may be my bitch-fu speaking but in the last 6 months in particular there are a whole /hell/ of a lot of players playing on games that they never stop bitching about on chan, privately, here, whatever--all the while saying there's no where else to play. πŸ™‚

Instant Pot is the bomb. Got mine awhile ago because we eat a lot of meatless dinners and dried beans are way cheaper, and also I wanted an easy way to make stock without monopolizing the rapid heat burner on my stove.

Today I roasted a chicken, then used the carcass plus another frozen carcass to make awesome rich bone broth, and then used the bone broth to make chicken soup from scratch for a sick friend and family--with one pot (not counting straining bowls and shredding meat)--in 5 hours with minimal babysitting.

Every time I think about trying to get a FS game opened, which I dearly love, I'm reminded of how much old bygone crap I'd have to wade though. (Hell it was bad enough ON Star Crusade with people still complaining at each other from some other FS game they'd played with each other like...at least 5 years earlier?) I mean that is par for the course (I remember the same exact thing happening on all the Shadowrun games) but I'm an old cranky bitch now and I think it would be too tempting to engage a 5 strikes you're out policy for using who was an asshat to you on some other game as a reason why it's okay for you to be a dick now. 😞 Everyone does that now and then, but jesus.

Love my attitudinal and foul mouthed tow truck driver on BITN. Also playing a ghoul on RfK.

Been feeling pretty burnt of late. However, my BITN PC in particular is great at finding jump-in rp with whoever so I know that's there when I'm feeling less meh.

In the great green room there was a telephone, and a red balloon, and a picture of the cow jumping over the moon. And there were three little bears sitting on chairs, and two little kittens and a pair of mittens and a little toy house and a young mouse. And a come and a brush and a bowl full of mush and a quiet old lady who was whispering "hush." And then the murders began.

I once actually did use a fart (and would have upgraded to a shart if necessary) to get out of a really annoying (and creepy ooc as well as frankly boring as hell) TS scene when I first started mu*ing and didn't know I could call in ftb or like a non dumbass just log off. πŸ™‚

Though the above link kinda makes me want to drop something like that just for fun in the romance department. I can totally see one of my current pcs in particular doing that.
And I would be very genuinely absolutely delighted to have anyone drop something like that in a sexy scene if it was appropriate. I do with people inserted more humor into things like that.

At least this one says different words than "newfag" and "-fag". I'm going to wipe away a tear of pride from my eye. Nice try on the tranny thing though.

I'm waiting for one of them to say "grody to the max." Why don't you kids ever pick up the actual fun terms for your hipster armchair edgelordiness?
