      @mietze said in MSB MU*?:

Honestly, the people who shit talk others in mu*dom expecting it will never get back to them are idiots. Even if you shittalk only to someone you think doesn't even know who you're talking about or that other person, it always gets back.

Double idiocy if you share logs showing how "wrong" they are and end up showing your own ass instead. LOL.

This burned someone recently who used a log to double down on how much of a jerk I ostensibly was, to a mutual friend who had taken their version of things as true, but had expressed missing me.

I received an unqualified apology from said friend, who was aghast at the thought that they might approve of what had been said, especially because they had been mentioned in the log as approving of it.

My accuser, on the other hand, burned their last chance at shit-talking with that log.

So I commend @Auspice on where she's at with her diagnosis despite our differences, as I am quite familiar with the horror of completely dysfunctional OCD, and I hope that she has the strength to continue grappling with it.

but looking back it'd always happen when my family life was at its worst and I'd be internalizing a lot of stress. I'd end up awake 24-48 hours straight just cleaning, organizing, rearranging furniture, itemizing everything... because since I had no control over THAT part of my life, I was taking control of THIS part of my life.

Every time we're starting to struggle financially, I have to do a grocery. I am not at ease unless there's enough food in the house for at least four meals. And not like just annoyed, either, terrified. I feel like if I can just feed us that night, the next day will be okay. If I don't, calamity!

Man, I miss Valentine now. T^T

A woman saw him in my open office doorway (when I had a small gallery), and she was passing by with her friend outside. She screamed absolute murder and collapsed because just the sight of his giant self terrified her. He held very still and looked at me and was all like, 'Is she okay?' Just sat there like a rock as we all tried to help the poor lady, nope, not here, I am a totally invisible mass of floof. He got a lot of snuggles afterward because he still looked worried after they moved on.

I'm surprised he thought he could get away with hiding essentially hate speech in front of a bunch of nerds.

He's now doubling down and ranting about offended Disney jew bosses, so he's really not doing himself any favors.

@HelloProject There are so many good alternative publishers now. Image, IDW, Boom, Aspen, even Valiant's coming out with good books. Many of which are very diverse, and many of their readers switched away from the big two to these publishers in part for that diversity.

Taking a younger friend to a Korean BBQ place for the first time and informing them that they have to pour my Soju with both hands and look away when I am drinking otherwise they'll be breaching ancient rites of Korean restaurant etiquette. I swear if you've never done this you've got to try it. Endlessly entertaining.

There's one just around the corner from my house, and a meat coma sounds so good right now.

Plus, some of the 'juices' for vapes smell downright horrendous.

Like, same category there as people who drown themselves in perfume or cologne.

I'm allergic to pot, tobacco and cologne and most vaping fragrances, and I live in a state where people smoke and/or douse themselves in that stuff. I had to give up playing gigs because I got anaphylaxis anytime I played a set in a club. 😕 Now that I work outside, I still have to breathe it and my lungs and throat are trash at the end of the night.

People have no idea how far their malodorous shit carries, and it's not like I can choose not to get sick from it.

Pot in particular has gotten nastier in the last decade.

You cannot smoke weed in public in Nevada or California, either. You can possess it but not smoke/consume it on public property.

That never stops anyone in Nevada. Anywhere you go, it reeks. I'm a paraplegic who is also recovering from cancer, so I attract every well-meaning/profiteering potheads within visual range.

"So yeah, man, um, I'm taking signups for medical marijuana cards..."
      "Thanks, but I don't smoke."
"But like you can sign up..."
      "No, thank you!"
"But like pot is great for cancer and pain..."
"I know, but I'm really allergic to pot."
      "You're allergic to pot?"
      "Yes."
      "But pot is natural!"
"Yeah, well, basil is natural and I'm allergic to that, too."
      "Like, allergic to everything?"
      "Yes."
      "Edibles?"
      "Yes."
      "But there are low-thc strains-"
"Not the THC. The whole plant."
      "But CBD-"
      "That too."
"But CBD is good for cancer!"
"Yeah, it woulda been nice during chemo, but I like breathing, too."
      "But CBD."
"All pot products give me anaphylaxis. Even hemp gives me anaphylaxis. I can't drink hemp milk. I can't even touch hemp twine. Yes, even CBD."
      "But..."
"This is why I hate pot smokers, jfc. Also, you smell like cat piss. Even if I wasn't allergic, I wouldn't want to smell like cat piss."

I had this argument twice last night.

Edit: For some reason, even when I tell them I responded very well to chemo, I still get told to drop it in favor of natural alternatives. I have had to drop so many friends because of their insistence that I should risk anaphylaxis for CBD instead of chemo, alkaline water instead of chemo, turmeric instead of chemo, ginger and lemon instead of chemo, etc. This is all bad and deadly advice. Bit pot smokers are the WORST about it.

      @Thenomain AGREED.

Here in Az, the area around Arizona State University in Tempe used to have affordable apartments ($800/mo for a 2BR around 2005) around the campus. Since then, those apartments have all been bought out and replaced.

Thst's a shame. I lived about a block behind Mill because it was actually affordable for a young couple to rent there, unlike Mesa, and there was always something to do even if you were mostly broke.

We've often thought about returning, but not at prices like that.

So I try to remember the consequences of hitting people, because there is a limit to the pure goodness in one's heart to simply not hit someone when they become grossly racist every time you're alone with them and none of your other friends are around to see it.

Record it with your phone, even if just the audio, and play that nasty shit back next time folks deny it. It won't necessarily win you much, but you can rebut the 'they never would have said that' bullshit with their own words.

You might get the 'they were probably joking' bullshit, though.

I've had heatstroke since friday, because I'm dangerously photosensitive and had to meet a lawyer during a southwest heatwave. I have to go back out in two weeks to have an unconsitutional ticket dismissed.

This better add a few grand to that settlement, I tell you what. -.-

Trying to do vegan while being allergic to nuts is a good way to fuck yourself over due to lack of protein.

      Nuts and legumes.

Still, nutrition has changed since the last time I went vegan/vegetarian. Quinoa is produced enough that it's actually not too expensive. I'm surprised that durum wheat seems to be decently high in protein, along with brown rice. And couscous? Didn't see that coming.

This isn't an ideological thing; this is a can I do it? thing. If I can't, I can't -- I'm not going to cry. If I can, though, I will try it, and it may have some positive health benefits for me.

Won't really know 'til I give it a shot.

Spinach is surprisingly high in protein.

At lower doses it keeps me awake. Higher doses, zzz.

@Paris It is a long term known thing. Messed with me since I was a kid. #1 reason that despite knowing all manner of folk with various interests in recreational drugs of nearly all kinds at some point or another, you really just couldn't pay me enough to ever try.

Yep, I respond weird to most drugs and have to be a tee-totaler in real life.
