I had a similar experience to @WildBaboons. Timezone issues meaning activity was low when I was able to play, and events being mostly EST evening making it early hours of the morning for me.

@seraphim73 So very sad to hear this. I hope you manage to cram in as many good memories as you can into what time you have left. Thoughts are with you and your family.

RE: Critters!
This is Mabel. She's my Tibetan Terrier terror and has just turned one year. She's currently asleep draped across the back of my neck on the sofa. For some reason her breed demands they always get up on things!
And this is Mabel and Gus (my ginger ninja) on squirrel (and pigeon, rabbit, crow, anything-that-moves) garden watch. They make a great good cop/bad cop team.

RE: Wahoo's Playlist
That may or may not have been me, (or maybe I was just another victim of her's). I played Arissa, Rasha's daughter. Kate pulled me up because she didn't like the way I was playing her. (She originally wrote Arissa's sheet.) I'm not sure if she was behind whichever of it was of Taleena's sons that raped Arissa to discredit her from marrying her nobleman, and Ladonna and Torianos murdered her shortly after that. I was warned by staff that I'd be banned from the game if I told anyone what had happened.
Kate eventually apologised. She was upset about the shit flung her way when the player of Arissa's aunt's posted about it to wora. Unfortunately it was one of those non-apologies where she tried to lay the blame for her actions on me, rather than owning them herself, so I refused to accept it.
Firan and its staff, the gift that keeps on giving.

RE: Fifth Kingdom
This game is ticking along nicely with a few plots being wrapped up and new ones unfolding. Today will see the start of a campaign to push the Ulster forces out of Degairde where they have taken up occupation. Some fresh to play roster characters have been added, (and being unplayed there's no nasty surprises in their history to jump up and bite anyone deciding to claim them) with tie-ins and hooks to characters already on grid.
There are also several important positions waiting to be filled; amongst them the Midach Gobae (Master Healer and commoner position) for the Court, and the Bishop (Feature/Tier 1 position). There are also Septs (families) now open for active leadership, either as the OOC main character or as the heir to the Sept itself.
If historical games are your thing, drop in and check Fifth Kingdom out, people are usually around and happy to help.

So sorry to hear this @Arkandel . It's that unconditional love that they give us, which makes it so hard when they go.

@surreality said in RL Anger:
@Tinuviel I think the mention is that the person may have thought 'A Knight's Tale' (the movie) was 'The Knight's Tale' (the Chaucer story).
Exactly this. He mistook one for the other, so mentioned having read the book. I don't think that that's such a weird remark for her friend to have made.

RE: RL Anger
@Thenomain For clarification here is a summary:
Me: Have you seen Will yet?
Him: No, not yet, people keep encouraging me to watch it.
Me: You might like it, it reminds me a lot of A Knight's Tale in terms of style.
Him: I've read every one of Chaucer's works aloud! So yes, I understand the intuitive leap to Chaucer, but we were talking about the comparison of style, not that his accomplishments with regard to reading Chaucer.
It came off, in context, like an out-of-nowhere brag, but I can see how someone on the spectrum might pluck a portion out of a conversation and zig when you thought it was going to zag.
Late to the party, but here we go....
You do realise that one of the tales in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales is called 'The Knight's Tale'? It was a perfectly reasonable response for him to have made!

The name of the thread does indeed have the word bitch in it. Is that symptomatic of the sexist culture in which our language developed? Yep.
It's probably unrelated but I dislike the name of the "RL anger" thread.
There are many, many things that peeve, annoy or disappoint me about real life that I don't feel anger towards. Anger is a strong word.
Sunday night/Monday morning some thieving scumbags forced an entry to my garden and stole patio furniture that we got for an anniversary present. Also took as many garden tools as they could carry (some of which belonged to my mother who died 3 years ago and thus were of great sentimental value), and our barbecue. We reported it to the police, but they said we'd probably never see it again, and gave us an incident number.
So I went out and around where I live today, asking people I met if anyone had been trying to flog some wicker patio furniture, and amazingly one girl I know from walking our dogs said, oh huh, is it white and so big by so big, and are you missing a barbecue too? If so, it's in this lock up shed over where I live.
I ran all the way there, and yup... was all my stuff. So snapped some pics through the shed slats on my phone, rang police and sat on the ground in front of the door for three solid hours until police came. I was so ANGRY that some fucking nasty shitbags had done this that I was fully ready to stop them moving it someplace else. It was so satisfying when they busted the place open and got my stuff out.

RE: Fifth Kingdom
The game continues to slowly grow and has seen an influx of new players in the last few days. Some important positions are still available that staff would love to see filled:
Tier 1 Positions Open:
Now all filled (sorry).Tier 2 Positions:
Warden: Protector/steward of the lands of Kidare; reports to Court Garrison.
Intendant: Organizes entertainment for the court, music, theatre, or otherwise - no troupe, act, fool, performing bard gets in without going through the Intendant, reports to the Kapelmaster
Heralds: (2 positions): bards/fili/scribes, responsible to organize, announce and referee the contestants at a tournament (not during the contest); reports to the Kapelmaster
Priests: (2 positions): Layleaders under the Bishop of Colmac, these priests operate in the court itself for Christians, performing services/mass
Ovates: (2 positions): Layleaders under the Fili of Court, performs direct services for household members and staff of the Celtic pagan faithAlong with the above, there are a wealth of other positions which are the backbone of RP at Court. http://fivek.wikidot.com/theme:court-of-ronain#toc3
Plots are running, including the alleged sighting of a river monster which will be kicking off the early part of next week, and the gathering of forces to the north of Kidare as Ulster bid to take the city of Artri. Men have just been mustered and are leaving to reinforce Artri n preparation for battles which will span the next couple of weeks.
Staff and players are helpful and responsive, so if the above piques an interest, drop on by for a chat.

connect at: arthur.silvertree.org : 1106Edited to add: Staff are working on a political/economics system which will be introduced once thrashed out fully. It'll place more focus on the Septs as crop failures and morale (amongst other things) become very real threats to success in the game.
Edited again to add: As of just now, the Fili position and the Marshal are both pending apps.

RE: Cary's Playlist
@Ganymede So says mister grumpy dumpypants (who's bucking the average life expectancy of 35 having made it to 37).
Seriously though, come play! The game is well thought out, staff are great and there's some good on-going plot.
And you get Gany.
