Sure, and some people genuinely think that sexism is scientifically supported. Some people are wrong and should be mocked and have their toxic ideologies driven out of society.
Work related. Well, professionalism related. Well, related to my lack of professionalism.
If I post a comment on Facebook about how it's at best an ignorant look for attorneys to be claiming that they'd spend time in jail to erase their student debt (an unfortunately popular meme making the rounds these days), please do not try to defend the meme. Especially if you are a criminal defense attorney. Especially if you are a criminal defense attorney who I personally know to be lazy and unwilling to visit clients.
I WILL SAY IMPOLITIC THINGS

Non-binary, genderqueer, genderflexible, trans, agender people exist, and some have male socialization, and some play lesbians without a lot of regard for female socialization differences, and that's not been great for lesbian representation on games and it's hardly hating or fearing trans people to say so.
See it would have legitimately been better to just lead with this instead of dancing around the point, because then I could have just said "you mean it's not great for cis lesbian representation since trans lesbians exist."
Because, yeah, the experiences of trans lesbians are often really different from the experiences of cis ones.
I got a copy of The Jewish Annotated New Testament. It's amazing. I squealed.
Also got a lovely blouse from some wonderfully affirming friends. It fits so nicely!
I'm kind of iffy on Hart. If I want devastatingly literal I can just pick up the NASB (or, frankly, spend a week brushing off my Koine and going to town on it myself).
In general, I'm a fan of the NRSV. The NIV is nightmarish.
Okay I retract my earlier statement. You should never make these jokes, because they are bad jokes.

@Ganymede JFC. I feel like I just need to start walking around in a shirt that says "I apologize on behalf of white people everywhere. No, really. Sorry."
Better thing to do is just call our fellow white people out on their bullshit.
Hold on.
So like, wandering to the refrigerator and staring at all the things you could make but not having the energy to do any cooking so you eat a spoonful of peanut butter and hope that's enough protein for the night...
...that's a thing? It's not just being so lazy you starve yourself?
@insomniac7809 @faraday I really, really do appreciate the help y'all have given me. I should emphasize that the reason I'm even thinking about this is because after talking to me about my energy levels and behavior my psychiatrist said I likely have ADHD and has suggested medication. So I have been diagnosed, I suppose; I just have to figure out to handle it.
And doubting my validity is not so much a personality trait as it is my entire personality at this point.
So a lot of this is just sort of trying to focus on what I'm dealing with, because I'm profoundly ignorant of the illness.

@Rinel Let's not bicker and argue about who killed who.
Hey, just because I killed someone it doesn't mean I'm guilty!
This is technically correct, which is the best kind of correct the sort of thing I use all the time to piss off the government
That's because practically everyone has experienced a serious trauma event, and capital is doing its level best to pretend that everyone is fine. You aren't alone.
Rejection sensitive dysphoria just absolutely kicking my ass today.

I'm pretty pleased about that. Every time I see you asking for RP and not getting it, I worry you're gonna fuck off. >.>
Hah. Good luck. When Changeling comes I'm literally going to just start RPing in the OOC room until someone drags me out of it to scene with me. SO MANY IDEAS.

I am hearing bits and pieces about it from Judy on my bus ride home.
I'm in that awkward first few weeks of a character phase where you have to wriggle around a bit schizophrenically, like the last few seconds of putting on a glove before it fits just right. But I think I'm getting the hang of Yvette!

Like, sorry for double post, but to clarify, my point was more that manic pixie dreamgirl is one of those tropes that is definitely popularized based on its relevance to MEN, and I don't doubt that dudes playing lesbians often think they are being "chic" about this, but I've seen female players fall into the same trap.
My transgender friend fell into the same trap, and it was pretty fucking annoying. Like, yeah, I accept that you are a woman, but grown-ass women don't traipse about yammering about dress cuts and purses in polite company.
I mean, often.
Shit.
So I don't personally go for the thigh-high stockings and bows in the hair and hyper-feminine expression thing, but in defense of those who do: trans women, especially those who transition later in life, have missed out on a whole lot of life as a woman. There's a lot of grief/anger/other-emotions-as-appropriate about that, and sometimes people go over-the-top in experiencing what they feel they missed out on in a way to handle that emotion.
I remember a lot of my gay male friends being extremely flamboyant and stereotypically "gay" when they came out. It subsided with time. I don't know if you used the past tense when talking about your friend because she grew out of it, but I think it's pretty likely that she will if she hasn't already.
Some of these are legit.
Some remind me of Douglas Adams and his, "the spaceships hung in the sky in the same way bricks don't."
I always actually thought that was a pretty inspired line. Like, yeah, it's funny on its face, but it also gets you to imagine bricks hovering motionless in the air and really underscores how incredibly unnatural the scene would be.

Alright, fun's fun, but can we please take this to the Politics thread?
Everyone knows the personal is political, but for those without privilege, the political frequently becomes personal. There's a valid reason for anger.
