Thank you both. It really does mean a huge deal to me.
As for winning, well, the state keeps appealing, so we're working our way up the ladders. They really don't like federal habeas/state PCR claims.

I think Rinel's point was more that some people raised with male socialization are actually lesbians themselves (because they are trans women).
As I said, I don't police what people call themselves. I take Cirno at face-value that Cirno is black; it doesn't mean I think every black character Cirno plays is going to be great for black representation just because they say so.
See, this is the shifty attitude I'm talking about. I'm legitimately trying to give you the benefit of the doubt because I prefer to think people aren't raging bigots, but what you're writing over and over just sounds like transphobia without a spine.
I have never so much as encountered people pronouncing it as an acronym.
F-Y-I.
@Pandora said in Diversity Representation in MU*ing:
@Rinel I'm not trying to pick a fight here, but when you divide the line, in text-based gaming, between trans/not-trans lesbian representation, you are ignoring the fact that men who play lesbians are almost universally not playing trans characters, they are speaking for and over female-socialized lesbians.
I don't know why men playing lesbians should be expected to play trans lesbians instead of cis lesbians. The ways in which cis lesbians and trans lesbians differ is not something that means a man is more suited to play one over the other except in perhaps the most basic and vulgar concepts of anatomy, assuming you have a trans woman who has yet to begin any form of physical transition.
That is what I keep harping on in this discussion with you: trans woman does not mean "basically a man." Trans women are not proto-women, or somewhere in between men and women.
@Pandora said in Diversity Representation in MU*ing:
It would be, in my opinion which you may disagree with, a disservice to trans people playing lesbians to say 'Let's lump you in with the lesbians played by men because that's easier/safer than talking about "mesbians" as their own problematic category'. I know problematic is a trite word these days, but work with me here.
I think it's a disservice to trans people playing lesbians to act as though their "male socialization" leads them to RP lesbians in a way similar to men, which is what you're implying here with your comments about "male socialization" leading to sexually aggressive hyper femme lesbians.

I didn't dance around any points, I said what I said and you chose the most uncharitable interpretation possible
Trust me, my giving someone who uses the phrase male socialization any posts, much less three, in which to explain themselves is basically Christmas when it comes to charity.
The difficulty of my ongoing Chick fil a boycott just dropped to zero.
Popeye's chicken sandwich is amazing.
honestly I just like that your handle is "bliss" in this context
No, random journalist on Facebook, it is not accurate to say that a person who has confessed to elements of a crime has confessed to the crime itself.
No, random journalist on Facebook, me pointing this out does not make me a rape apologist.
No, random journalist on Facebook, I am not responsible for making you upset when you were the one who wandered into my comment thread and began arguing with me.

So far I've ruined a strained neighbor relationship, terrorized a child, and RAKE IN THE LAKE

This is a good game. A goose game.
I put little wire-mesh trays on my desk, because that is what Professional People do, and I am a Professional People.
Now they're filling up with paper. And the paper isn't going away. Sometimes other people's trays have a few sheets of paper, but the paper goes away.
My trays have developed a fault.
Keep it up and you're gonna catch these wings hands

@Rinel That must be hell. I would be a catastrophe of anxiety in your shoes. Fingers crossed the boss realizes this added stress to the situation.
I'm going to tell him, but obviously it's not appropriate to do so in the conversation we'll be having soon. Still, it's definitely going to be a conversation we have later. It wasn't a big deal today outside of being very upsetting for me, but I have tons of appointments and things to do throughout the week. If I cancel one because I'm asked to pencil in my boss for an important phone call, I'd better damn well be getting a phone call.
ETA: Right now I'm letting the anger smolder before I shove it into a box for the call itself. Beats being terrified.

The ones who approach you and ask for food/money are junkies or scammers, for the most part. You're just enabling bad habits or a toxic lifestyle.
This is what I mean when I talk about people writing off addiction. It's not a bad habit; it's a serious disease that kills people.
Would I prefer that my state focus on harm reduction by implementing enormous structural reform? Yes. But I'm also okay with giving someone some funds so they can go shoot up now instead of ODing and dying alone under an overpass because they went overboard after going into withdrawal.
Well people have responded positively so far which is good I suppose.
Now I have to, you know... socially transition.
Oh man
Here's hoping the ugly fuckin' duckling turns out to be a swan
ETA: and thank all of you for being as supportive and wonderful as you are. It means so much to know people are just... okay with this sort of thing.
I'm going to end up fucking buying this and I already hate myself for it

Also, remember, once she is inside your house you can shoot her dead. Just make sure she is fully inside the residence. If you have a restraining order out on her and she breaks into your home, you have a license to kill.
This isn't even the legal standard in every US state, much less abroad. Don't give legal advice like this if you aren't a lawyer. It's exceptionally dangerous for the person who is relying on your word, and, assuming you're an American, it opens you up to liability of your own.

Lies require intent. If you say what you believe to be true, then you're not lying even if what you say is not true.
This is how normal people speak.
Lawyers are not normal people.
Honestly my first thought was "lying requires specific intent," so idk if this is a lawyer thing
One of the best things the Morrowind community ever did for me was getting me to realize that "canon" is a spook.
@Admiral
The same people talking about how gamer culture is not at all toxic are now telling some of us to kill ourselves.
Sigh.
