@Selira Like you really care about reforming me or offering friendly advice. I'll drop my pretense if you drop yours. We can have a civil discussion or we can continue returning fire via sniping.

Ultimately, though, it's going to boil down to the fact that we have different POVs of events and philosophies; that aren't necessarily wrong and based on our own experiences. We're both convinced that each of our ways is 'correct' and fall into escalating tension and aggressions. We're both secure in our own echo chambers. I'm at least admitting to mine.

Everything is still too fresh and too raw on both sides of the split, IMO. Despite what you may think, I do take all criticism of myself seriously and adjust accordingly. I've been both applauded and dragged for how I tried to handle the situation.

So don't worry. You're not going to see a repeat of that particular sort of headline.

@Tirit How, exactly, do you think accusations of someone's bad behavior should be handled, as a community, then? Literally every community has some version of this -- grievances are redressed, the cause and scope of the grievances reviewed, and bad actors punished. Usually, it's public for very good reason.

So. Your option is that the title should have been '@Cinder Is A Creeper'? Just with no regard to if they're actually innocent or not? How is that any better than what I did? I'm accepting @ZombieGenesis'sdecision that the IP doesn't match up to his records, but there are things like free VPNs to hide your real IP, you know. Again, I accept and abide by the results of ZG's investigation.

Was my headline over-dramatic? Again, I'll accept the jury verdict on that. Was I trying to protect the identity of the accused and the game while the investigation takes it's course? Absolutely, although I understand why some see it as 'more secret sh!t...'

I tried to reach out in a spirit of community. There's obviously many in the community that aren't going to accept anything but 'MSB Admins Are The Enemy'. Fine; I'm sure there's many here that feel the same about BMD. I'm not one of those, though. If anything, I'm ambivalent about the split, now. Please tell the admins to delete my account there, since community unity seems to be off the table there and anything coming from any of us admins here is going to be disregarded or misinterpreted to further the divide.

Runescryer, my unsolicited advice to you is to not argue OOCly about IC stuff. React to it ICly instead, if and when your character ever hears about it IC. That's way more interesting. I guess MUSH players really like the collaborate approach of asking someone out-of-character "do you really want the story to go this way?" and I guess, fine. Just not my preference. The surprise and excitement of getting in-character consquences for some offhand comment is way too cool. But whatever. (I heard you were requested by ZG to contact Lithium OOCly, so, I'm editing my post.) If you were really going to do the OOC questioning, and do it honestly, then you should write a short concise summary on whatever the event is, and simply ask if the other player wants to retcon it. If they don't, then say thanks and politely stop talking to them OOC.

Fair enough. I was asked to speak with Warren/Lithium, OOCly. And that was the only interaction I had with them.

Also, my apologies if I misgendered Lithium before. Not my intent and will mea culpa to the screw-up.

      @Lithium So...to recap...

Manufacturing something from absolutely whole cloth, even in a private scene, isn't starting up the foundation of a rumor? And this isn't a 'Tony smells bad' kind of a thing. Also, I indicated I was trying to work with you to resolve this without major drama happening. This isn't the flex you think it is, my man.

I'm willing to let my archived scenes stand how they are. At no time had Tony ever been told about the Mansion, about any mutants other than Betsy, or had any secrets revealed to him.

I will cop to you talking with Harley about founding a team before I put in the event, and I apologize for that accusation. As far as I knew, I was the only one talking about assembling a team. Not even the Justice League was getting organized at that point. So, my apologies on that point.

As to the Lobo thing, Staff approached me about booting Lobo to free up space. I declined in the interest of being as fair and open as possible.

And, as for the comment that started this whole thing off... from the 'Moving Day' log, 9/16...

"Love life?" Warren asks as he reaches up to scritch at the side of Jeans head gently when she leans in close, his arm and wing, staying around her but he doesn't lean away. "I've met her twice. Once being today. I'm not sure how that is anything remotely close to a relationship. It's barely acquaintances." He shrugs a little, "It's not like she and I hooked up or anything, besides, wasn't she bragging about bagging Tony Stark? Bragging about how she exposed herself as a mutant to someone who makes weapons that are used against us? Then she rushes to the school when she should be laying low and keeping people safe if she was exposed? Then asking if you and I are a thing, right in front of Scott?" He shakes his head, then asks, "Was Scott still there?"

So, would you care to reply by pointing out the scene where Betsy was bragging about banging Tony? Would you care to point out where there were any news reports in game that exposed Betsy as going out with Tony? How is this not a potential foundation for a whisper campaign? In point of fact, Tony lied to SHIELD about the incident to cover Betsy's involvement; lying to a Federal Law Enforcement agency is sort of a crime, you know. We went out of our way to hide Betsy's involvement. If I was guilty of making assumptions, and I'll accept the jury verdict on that, you were doing the exact. Same. Thing.

Things escalated because neither of us trust the other in RP, probably RL now as well. And despite that little comment of yours, Warren's name was never mentioned by Betsy to Tony at any time. Tony's only information about mutants came from the books of Xavier and MacTaggart, in addition to the things he and Betsy talked about.

You're still trying to gaslight. And people are noticing. Maybe instead of getting upset at the reactions of other players, stop the gaslighting?

      Who. Outed. You. ?

Take some damn responsibilities for your own actions.

And ask anyone from that game using their MSB handles; I have been nothing but open and upfront with them about my identity, even contacting them first to give them a heads up as to my identity.

@Runescryer Warren Worthington, aka Angel, has money. He backed many teams in the comics, and bankrolled many things. I didn't pay for anyones college tuition, I bought a dress for someone, let someone borrow a car, and was founding a comics team, like he had done many times in the comic books. Playing a wealthy character doesn't make someone DWOPP and thems fightin' words.

Please point out where I publicly outed you as DOPP; here, BMD, Discord, anywhere. I went out of my way to keep your handle out of this while @ZombieGenesis investigated. I never mentioned your MSB handle (which I didn't know) or you Ares handle. While we did have our rough encounters, and I'll take my equal share of the blame for that, I never mentioned your character name or any other means of directly identifying you, much less the game this was on.

      You outed yourself.

And since you have, here's the receipts for people to independently examine your interactions and decide for themselves.

      https://infiniteadventuresmush.com/char/Warren

NOTE: All logs up to 9/21/22 are the ones @Lithium participated in.

If you want, I can also post my log of our OOC chat when things got bought up.

Since we're on the subject, how about discussing you putting Betsy on full blast around the X-Mansion, accusing her of endangering everyone by way of her relationship with Tony and revealing herself as a mutant, when with your last scene, you did the exact. Same. Thing, With Lois; rescuing her from a dangerous situation and revealing that you were a mutant to her.

Let's talk about how you only really started working on the Champions after I started organizing the initial Avengers Event.

Let's talk about how after people started pointing out you playing Warren as a completely spoiled asshole (a valid interpretation, BTW), you suddenly came up with getting 'evil infected' in the Limbo scene, hinting that you're being corrupted by something you had suddenly encountered there. You specifically mentioned an 'evil Warren phase' you were going through in Chat, leading to speculation that you were setting up some kind of 'immaculate cleansing' later that could excuse away all your bad behaviors.

Want more receipts, I got 'em. Part of the nice thing about Ares: automatic record keeping & storage.

I can even provide conversations I had with Staff where I was advised to boot Lobo from the Avengers Event because it was a 'joke' sign-up. Also, where I stuck to my guns about it being an Event free for anyone to participate in; Marvel or DC, legacy Avenger or otherwise.

Let's talk about your 'I'm just asking questions, here' defense about you suggesting (in a private 1 on 1 scene, granted) to Jean that Tony Stark manufactures Anti-Mutant Weapons. Yeah, that pissed me off; the 'I'm not touching you' whisper campaign you were starting. After our OOC conversation, I was still willing to adapt to that point of view you put out there and adapt it into part of Stane's betrayal while Tony was a captive.

All of this behavior from you started when Betsy spurned your advances in RP; the billionaire pissing contest, the whispers about Betsy in the X-Sphere, the sudden idea of creating the Champions.

Face it, man...I won't deny that others gave you shovels, but you dug this hole all on your own, here.

Oh, look. It's this jerk again...

No, not me; I'm an entirely different jerk. But I digress...

Looks like everyone's favorite creeper might be back among us after a nice absence. No character names, since receipts are still being collected, and not naming the game while they do their own ongoing investigation.

Just a heads up that several people reviewing logs are having deja vu all over again and noticing behaviors and patterns matching DWOPP's MO.

      • Love bombing and constant spending of "fake IC money" to be the most perfect dream come true guy ever. Paying for cars, clothing, college tuition
      • Super protective of his target females around other males. Willing to fight or create dissent to push other males away
      • Gaslights female players who dislike his IC advances as problematic IC and OOC

Again, not sharing character names yet and giving the game staff a chance to work things out internally. Think of this as the smoke detector going off; time to be aware and see if there is a fire.

So, a general heads up to the community and to Staffers to be aware on their own games of a possible DWOPP return.

Anyone who's also on Brand Mu Day, please feel free to send out a warning there, as well.

For 1989 it was edgy, but for today, that kind of perspective feels super overdone. I was actually born in 1989 so maybe it's difficult for me to appreciate what was legitimately edgy back then.

Also yeah, I don't appreciate how free people can be with the 'edgelord' label. But it does actually apply in some cases. (Maybe not this one, I admit, but without all the context and history, it could definitely come off that way to an uneducated observer such as myself).

It's the same problem that the 'John Carter' film faced: the original stories were foundational for almost every aspect of science-fiction, but seem trite and cliche to newer audiences that are unaware of the significance.

Sandman, Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns were all groundbreaking at the time and set foundations for modern (post-90's) comics storytelling. And part of this is also being imitated by writers/artist without the same level of storytelling ability. 'Edginess' became an all-encompassing, character-defining attribute, rather than a thematic element.

For me, the big difference between, 'being edgey' and 'edgelord' is a certain amount of intellectual development in the former that is absent from the later. For example, the character of Gilbert in Sandman is based on English author G.K. Chesterton; not exactly an obvious or well-known reference. Chesterton's works mainly concerned Christian apologetics; defending the ideals of Christianity via debate instead of 'it's in the Bible, so it must be true'. That's a level of awareness that you don't find in edgelords, who are mostly concerned with 'shock for the sake of shock', without any debate or reasoning or reflection upon their actions.

Yeah. Morpheus is a depressing, over-serious, self-important prick. And the overall narrative of Sandman is showing how this immortal being that believes himself unchangeable and above 'petty mortals' does, in fact, change; becoming more human in the process. The whole series is Morpheus making those human connections, within and without, and shedding his bad habits of the past several eons.

@hobos But the issue is that the people in the diner did have self control over their own actions; until Dee/Destiny removed the self-control from them. How much of what happened in that episode was really Dee projecting his own issues & perceptions onto the others?

Also, what are your thoughts on The Collectors, where Dream pretty much calls out the same edgelord mindset you pointed out, with the addition of making them always be aware of how meaningless their existence and dark fantasies really are.

CORRECTION: The issue was 'The Collectors', the episode with Morpheus doing the direct confrontation was 'Lost Hearts'.
