RE: Dead Celebrities 2020
@Rinel I'm hoping people hold the biggest one for everyone who is lost after all of this is done. That's something I'd like to come down there for.

This thread is about to get rough.

RE: COVID-19 Assistance Thread
There's not a lot I can do as a carless person, but I'm in the Portland, OR area and work from home in an essential industry. I also have a decent amount of privilege and bureaucratic know-how, and my roommates are going stir-crazy looking for things to do to help. Let me know and I'll try to work something out.

RE: Resources for Self-Isolating People
Just to be clear "The Magicians" is an incredibly dark show, and, while fantastic, many episodes have left me shaking with emotions. It doesn't pull punches, so be wary.

Zoom is decent and Discord is, too, though they expect lag with the large number of people.
Twitch is also an option, for all teachers here. It has a lot of custom overlays and the like that might allow for more interactivity, and is worth looking into.

RE: Getting into Writing
I hated writing as a child. I absolutely despised it - my penmanship is terrible and there is likely fundamentally something wrong with the very process in how I write that remains uncorrected, but my hand cramping, the ink or graphite smears, the tedium of the whole process and how much slower it was to put my words to paper than simply think them infuriated me. Every time I had to write, I would look tor an excuse to get out of it, and check after every sentence to see if I had done enough to satisfy my mother's demands.
That changed with the introduction of the internet into my life. As a young teenager, I was in Germany and isolated away from any native speakers of English. I grew desperate for communication, and while I was learning the language, the first real reprieve I got was discovering roleplaying chatrooms on my cousin's computer.
I was hooked. I started writing and writing and really haven't gone back since. The faster speed of typing, and the social interaction element of it, those were the two things that won me over. I've, of course, written my share of essays, opinion pieces, etc., and it's something I need to find the discipline to do more of, but these days, I'm rarely not writing.

Swamped with work. Having to actually go into the office and having very limited time for hobbies - but for once actually feeling like a part of a team with real responsibility, actually liking it, sleeping at proper times and feeling like a Real Adult.
What.

In Oregon, nudity is protected free speech, and thus we have the highest per capita concentration of strip clubs in the country in Portland.
Perhaps educate yourself before going on yet another one of your ill-informed owning the libs rants.

RE: Good TV
I have a weakness for trashy reality shows.
The Boulet Brothers' Dragula is everything I didn't know I wanted. Radical self-expression through horror, filth and glamour? Bringing a real, visceral darkness to the scene? Sign me the fuck up.

RE: Favorite Youtubers?
Adding some on here that I haven't seen yet, though a lot of my staples have already been covered.
NileRed - Adorably geeky guy does chemistry experiments. Starting to drift into the realm of the weird, like can you make moonshine out of toilet paper (yes, yes you can). Does a really good job of showing and explaining the process and why the transformations work.
CGP Grey Fairly complex political and social topics presented in a pretty presentable way.
Vinheteiro A man stares at you uncomfortably while playing the piano.

RE: Depression Meals
Some of you express depression very differently than I do. I love cooking. It's the last thing I want to do sometimes.
Bratwurst become an option (because I just boil them) but really it's just a good old peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

RE: The Work Thread
We're in full-on recovery mode for this project.
We just lost two PM's in a month.

RE: Selira's Playlist
Revealing someone's alt on a game where they've been griefed off in the past is a real shit move. But since it's been done, here we go.

if any of you thought I could resist dogfighting, punching nazis in the face, and dragons
Why, why would you think that?
