      @Ominous

I have zero idea why but for some reason your comment made me start wishing for a Wreck It Ralph sandboxy type game. Everyone has their own "game" and then there is the terminal to sit in. Perhaps a few communal "games" aka, hang out spots for casual rp. People can go sandbox in their own games, or colab across many games.

Anyway. I just wanted to write it and now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

I swear I need to break my religious taboo about tatoos on my body and get that printed somewhere, because all of us are honestly so freaking deflated.

The only thing I've got going for me is that my baby who has <insert things that are private here> has decided that he loves school and loves me, and has decided that everything is okay as long as he's right by my side. I can DO THAT. Teach him to READ? .... yeah, we'll see. But he knows I love him.

My anxiety has died down knowing that the teachers are doing everything they can.

As a teachers of 2nd and 3rd graders (7-8 years old) I appreciate hearing that.

We're 100% doing the best we can and every ounce of grace we can be extended is a godsend. I've had an anxiety attack evert day this week and honestly, my zoomm this morning was a total dumpster fire. I needed to be able to troubleshoot with every kid... and I couldn't do that.

      Please go away COVID.

I know it's important and thus do it and do it well, but I honestly hate doing mandatory training reporting. It just breaks my heart.

There is so much smoke in the air here in Denver. I'm worried about my asthmatic father who is only ~15-20 miles away from the active burning.!

    • RE: How do you discover books?

I have an aunt who is an editor at Penguin Random Books. She sends me stuff in the mail.

Though not since Covid started since she isn't allowed in the physical offices.

So. I don't have access to neither my math nor my language arts curriclum because somehow my school was left off the list of allowed schools. So that's fun.

Also, if my admin say, "but you're so good at..." one more time when I bring up my concerns about this upcoming year and my fears about failing my kids I swear I'm going to take a bat to a wall. I don't need your fucking reassurances of my ability. I need you to help me process and find a fucking plan forward. I'm not expressing my concerns because I need validation. I'm expressing my concerns because I fucking NEED HELP.

    • RE: Books...Books...Books....

My aunt has given me several books where the book is the almost parallel lives of a modern historian and a person in history, almost totally female perspective (because my aunt is editor to almost exclusively female authors, but that is something else.) Covid has made it so she can't go into the office and thus can't send me more books, so I actually had to go looking for something to read.

I stumbled across this book called The Weight of Ink that follows that same parallel structure. I'm enjoying it, but it is also seriously challenging me. It is a National Jewish Book Award winner, and the history involved is dense 1650's stuff with references to philosophers and Jewish culture I just have no experience with. I'm having to pause and google for context to grasp what is so significant.

    • RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?

I honestly find it difficult to RP //without// some kind of dice rolling any more. I don't want it to be the be-all-end-all of the RP where the rolls matter MORE than the RP (rolling initiative and then everyone announcing what they're going to do ooc before they roll murders my desire to be in that scene). But I like having the option of rolling.

Fun people let me get them wet, and drop totally-not-bat-poop on their heads, as well as rocks.

❤ TY for letting me play with you.

My first Mu* didn't have a time correlation AT ALL. My Hazel has been 10 for... 7/8 years now? That's mostly because the game is dead, but for comparison, when I DID play, my Junipersky went from 5 years old to 12 in about eight months.

This doesn't add to the conversation at all. It just reminded me so I went down memory lane.

I only have 24 babies on my class list! (This is way better than the 29 (?) they were thinking.)

Downside, 11 of those we honestly don't know if:
      A) they are going to choose our district'ts virtual option (this means they stay on my class list, but I'm not responsible for their instruction until January when they can transition back)
      b) they are going to choose to be virtual but in //my// classroom (I am responsible for their virtual education)
      c) they are going to show up on day 1 with all their stuff and need to be taught
      c) they aren't returning at all to our school district/my school

      So.

      That's scary.

We have been told all summer that we would not have to teach in person and online.

      All. Summer.

With a single week till teachers report back though we are facing a deficit of 100+ students from our building who have enrolled but are scared to come in person and ALSO do not want to enroll in our district virtual academy.

So in a last ditch attempt to keep our students we are now going to have to teach online and in person at the same time. Not a hybrid where the kids come every day, but either they are online all day or in front of me all day.

The other option is firing 5 teachers from our building. (We are a teacher staff of 15. 5 is 1/3 of our staff.) Even doing this there is no guarantee that those jobs won't be lost.

I'm devastated. I think my job is secure because I've worked pretty damn hard to be indispensable. That said this is going to be SO HARD on kids and I'm already beating myself up for how poor the education my online kids are going to get.

I couldn't force myself out of bed till 2 pm today and I snapped at my husband 3enough without cause that I am just going to go back.
