Remember that time over a year ago when I pointed this out, and @Thenomain replied with "works fine in mac"? 😄 😄 😄

Because someone asked, and for some reason I put it in another thread... Cross linking. In case I didn't already. Also editing to put it in the original...

How to enable spell check in Potato:

    • RE: Code systems that make it easier to get on with the business of roleplaying

      Self plug:

      poseorder and repose.

I find these two help people stay in character and don't have to ask questions OOC, don't have to be reminded it's their turn, don't have to scroll back through bboard or job spam to find the most recent poses. Poseorder, in particular, with it's BEEP! is absolutely great for living real life while RPing.

    • RE: How much Code is too much Code?

Coming from a WoD MUSH world, I've decided more is better. Automated systems keep players engaged when the story is not actively being told. That keeps players logging in, keeps them from idling, and keeps them around to actually play when other players go looking for RP.

In the WoD scene, Requiem for Kingsmouth was the example of "more code". You had weekly action points, you had different automated systems to set up patrols, to investigate stuff, etc. You had a blood pool that you needed to hunt to maintain. I liked it.

But a lot of players didn't, so, definitely not everyone's cup of tea. But, to be perfectly honest, the people who found these systems unpalatable and couldn't do them were generally the players who were so very casual that I don't think they benefited the games they were on. They would log in, they would idle for great lengths, they would do one or two closed/private scenes a week. That doesn't grow a playerbase.

So, in terms of WoD, more code!

And for any of the random people reading this that are clueless... my Arx character got second place in a contest and the prize (that she chose) was a dog (and Arx has coded animal companions).

I give you Scourge, Fang of the Marsh.

Saw a buncha other people updating. Realized it's been a long time, so updating my own.

Just on two games at present, Arx (Mae and Jack) and Fate's Harvest (Green). Busy working on not-MU stuff... and some other stuff...

@ZombieGenesis Did you set the port? Are you connecting on the correct port? Is that port exposed to allow connections? (Note: I have no idea how that last part may or may not work, just know that if you have the port closed entirely, you won't be able to use it!)

@Thenomain I want the fighting styles, just not the weird tag stuff! But fine. I'll just install them as not-a-list-merit or whatever. Harumph.

No, I'm not. I didn't want you to do the change in the first place. You did it for @SunnyJ. My only concern for the future (and for SCC) is how do I undo this change?

@faraday Thaaaaank you. @Thenomain also assured me that functions should go in order.

I swear I've seen things process before other things, but, uh, in this case... I was just being a dummy. Everything is working as it ought to. I had set a little snippet of code to say 'don't alert the person if there's only one person' and was testing with 2 people, and removing 1, so yeah...

      All fixed.
