RE: Good TV
Hopefully the series will improve the characters because RJ's inability to mature his female characters was one reason I abandoned the books. Having them be petulant children who didn't communicate their feelings ('If you don't know why I'm mad, I'm not going to tell you' HRMPH braid tug) in the beginning was fine because they were children. But having them behave EXACTLY the same after time and experience and increasing responsibility made me be like 'fuck this shit'.
In other news...
Succession is awesome and I loved Euphoria. Zendaya's acting was heart breaking.

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
@jibberthehut Last Thursday, I thought it was Friday until late in the day when my project manager asked me to book some time the following day so we could go over a project. When I realized I had an entire day left in the work week still, I was like 'FUCK'. I was so mad.
I was afraid I was skipping around days again and having a MOMENT.

RE: Good TV
@Three-Eyed-Crow My husband and I started watching it on a whim when we were in a lull for new tv. I am SO glad we did because it's crazy good. I love cousin Greg.

I started using "coke" exclusively since that time I asked for an "Ice Cream Soda Float" at a restaurant and they brought me soda water with an ice cream scoop in it.
What the fuck is this fuckery??

I will give one 'quibble' to Carnival Row, they introduce a sort of steampunk aesthetic early on and it runs through the series in the background but then never really seems to do anything beyond being window dressing.
I know this is really old but ...
It's that exactly what steampunk is? All appearance, no function.

And since we are on the topic, here's my final ranking:
Ugh, this is not complete. Where is Caravan of Courage (this is the Ewok one with the random kid actors .. the marauders lose here before they show up in the Mandalorian, spoiler alert) or The Holiday Special.
The holiday special is on there! It is #8. Unless there is another holiday special that I am not aware of!
I forgot about the Ewok one. Hmm. Probably somewhere in the range of 'Star Wars kid in his garage' but above 'Cats'.

@deadculture I agree. He has too much...face, if that makes any sense. I dunno. I am not using words well yet today.
I think would be nice to just get someone new-new. I don't that they would give a huge movie/part like that to someone unknown but it almost feels like we just always cycle through the same line-up of choices.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
@deadculture Personally, I'm kinda burned out on superhero movies overall. If it doesn't have amazing reviews, I skip it and I feel personally betrayed when something is well-received and I end up disliking it anyway (I am looking at you, Deadpool and Spider-Man Homecoming)
I am praying that Disney doesn't do the same thing to Star Wars. I love Star Wars. It still fills me with wonder and glee. I hope this more-is-more business model of a movie every year doesn't eventually get me to Star Wars fatigue like I'm at with superheroes.

I empathize with your story, but I thought of you. Perhaps this is your time to shine:
Haha, I love this clip. I am sure this is how my downstairs neighbors imagine me. Except in place of rolling around bowling balls, I keep them up with my incessant drawing. I am, truly, a monster.

The Disaster Artist was awesome. I lol'd lots and lots and James Franco was amazing.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@Derp I can't really give much advice on how to find a decent trainer -- the times that I have had one, I just went with whatever ones looked good on Yelp. However, I do wanna mention an alternative that I really loved -- a private pilates instructor.
I never really liked doing gym workouts. I never really liked being in a gym. But for a while, I was seeing a woman who had a private pilates studio. I'd see her twice a week and it was just me and her in home. She was a former dancer and very knowledgeable about the body. I have some back issues that I need to be careful about and she was able to tailor our sessions around that. And pilates is tooooough. It will make you strong.
I dunno how much you are looking to spend; private instruction is definitely not cheap. But compared to my experiences with personal trainers (which were fine!), I really got a lot more out of that.
I really should reach out to her again...

RE: Good TV
@Zobi The Good Place is on Hulu but they can only have five episodes on at a time due to streaming rights so you'd have to track down the first two episodes of season 2 somewhere else. But! If you can manage to do that, it's a good place to stay current. You know. Provided you have Hulu.

I know I am really late to this party but OMG DID ANYONE ELSE WATCH THE LEFTOVERS?! I just slammed through all three seasons and Carrie Coon is amazing and I love her and she should be in everything. Like, she was great in the third season of Fargo (it's just a pity that the third season of Fargo simply wasn't as good as the first two -- not that that was on her) but she was transcendent as Nora Durst.
Like, seriously you guys.

I'm not sure you can say the sky being blue would be equally as panic inducing as a person blinking out of existence before your eyes.
But!
You didn't like it. That's cool. There are plenty of shows that I am all MEH about that people have been wild over.
@Three-Eyed-Crow Oh! I forgot to mention: I think I am one of the few people who didn't hate season 1. Everyone who told me to watch Leftovers was like 'Just skip season 1, it's awful' but I actually liked it. Weirdos gonna weird, I guess!

RE: RL Anger
@surreality Will we still be able to do that after Trump's glorious tax cuts? I know a lot of things that used to be deductible aren't anymore.
Anyway, I can just log into CC using my work account. It will just get tricky if/when I leave my job. But honestly? I don't even really use the programs that much anymore. I'm a UX designer professionally so I mostly use Sketch and Invision.

RE: Social Awkwardness?
I hate small talk -- which, I know, is no rare thing in a hobby predominately populated by introverts. But it does make for socially awkward moments in real life. I think every friendship I have started with an awkward moment that left the other person thinking that I hated them. Nah, I just hate useless conversation; once we are done being topic-specific, I am out.
Example:
A girl at work that I am super good friends with now, when she started as an intern, was told to track me down and talk to me about being a woman in our field (design). So she approached me and said:
Her: Hey, So-and-so told me that you started off as a production artist and that you have risen up to become a senior designer. As a woman starting out in this field, I was hoping we could get together for lunch one day so I could pick your brain about your career and get some advice about mine.
Me: Okay, sure. Turns around, walks away.
What? There was nothing else to say! What was I supposed to do at that point? JUST STAND THERE AND TALK ABOUT THE WEATHER?! Jeez.
I'm not shy. I'm not on the spectrum. I just .. ugh. I'm not good at the start of relationships, having to navigate those surface-level conversations that don't mean much and are just there to fill in the empty spaces. (God, I sound like such a dick, haha).
A friend of mine and I usually go to San Diego Comic Con every year and once we were at a panel watching a peer of mine give a Copic marker demonstration. 'I can't imagine you ever doing something like that,' my friend said to me. '..standing in front of a whole room, giving a presentation in front of hundreds of people.' But that? THAT I have no problem with. I could do that easily. However, my worst nightmare? She's been begging me for years to get a table in Artists' Alley and just imagining that gives me anxiety -- having to stand there and basically make small talk with strangers for four days in a row.
Presentation in front of an entire room: Yes. Will kick-ass and enjoy it.
Talking one-on-one with a stranger: No. Will chew off my own arm to get away. -

My 'pain in the ass to find' thing is shoes
Fucking. Yes. I wear a size 16 wide(U.S.). They're basically like fuckin paddles for navigating bodies of water. Spring or Summer will hit and I'll have the novel idea of getting some new flippie floppies, which never goes that well. Ordering online is about my only option for many types of footwear and even that's a crap shoot sometimes. Sandals are often the worst, because while they're labeled a size 16 or whatever, I've had some that fit like a 13 or 14(eta: read, won't even go on at all or if they do my toes hang over the end like an '80s action movie hero dangling precariously from a ledge).
I feel your pain.
Yeah, my husband is also a size 16 and buying shoes is always a crap shoot. I don't know if you have a Nordstrom Rack near you but he sometimes has luck actually finding stuff in his size there. Which is nice because it's always better to be able to try shit on before buying because, at that size? Things seem to get .. interpretive. Like, one brand's 16 will be WAY TOO SMALL and another brand's 16 will be WAY TOO BIG. It's like they're all throwing their hands up and saying 'WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO DESIGN SHOES FOR NON-HUMANS BECAUSE CLEARLY NO REAL PERSON HAS FEET THIS BIG'
