@Sunny assured me it s not Custodius. She is not a big fan of his either, far as I know, so.. Unless she is REALLLY being a liar pants I see no reason to WHY she would give me such a BS that it is not him.

Just for clarity's sake, Reynaud is not Custodious. Renaud may or may not be, though I don't see any evidence for this whatsoever beyond 'oh gosh they're using the same name'. Let me tell you, I've seen both a Soleil and a Lili on various games lately, and I am certainly not either of them. ^^

Yeah, I know with my place we set a first of the year opening, but I was way, way too ambitious. I have to both adjust opening date, and dial down what all I wanted to get done before opening if I ever want to get the project off the ground.

I'm confused. Posted the +finger with one name and the WHO login with another name, and...? What's that supposed to say, precisely?

      Simplemu* does this. ^^

No, simplemu* highlights an entire paragraph, not just a single word.

Given I have it set up specifically to highlight individual words, yes, it does do single words.

There's just one book, but it's pretty helpful. I devoured it cover to cover a few days ago; it's not a hard read.

For an online superhero tabletop? Use dice.

Dice prevent the "I hit you!","Nahuh I blocked it with my laser gauntlet!", "Nah uh I'm faster than you!" arguments.

Really? Thankfully, I don't have that problem amongst the people I tabletop with, either in person or online.

What B said. I run a lot of online tabletop and it depends on the system. Amber no. Pathfinder yes.

Is this thread still a thing?

A couple people think it's a good idea, most of us think it's a terrible idea and the reasonings behind it (It's a play! Theater! I'm a director and my word is law!!! Or the I trust my friends and know them better than random peoples!) are terrible and the other side think they're reasonable and in the right.

Reading this, nobody is being convinced of anything.

Psst. You can actually hit 'mark all read' if you aren't interested. I don't think anyone is trying to convince anyone, it's just being discussed as it's an interesting discussion involving a lot of very intelligent people.

      @mietze

      Huh?

One is bad policy, the other is a way of winnowing candidates down. One relates to the pool of staff you can choose from, the other to how their jobs are done. Is it really headscratching?

Also, I don't think anyone is being celebrated.

Sure. Your game, your dime for the server, you can do anything you want, include being a nepotistic scumbag.

Because that's what you're going to be when you decide to play director, cast your stars, and then oh yeah, we need some extras too.

This bullshit gets you one thing. It gets you Firan.

Nobody is claiming what you're responding to.

I like how I try and make mine PC and get downvoted, but you are here to come along and say the things I wanted to say in the first place. 🙂 Perhaps I should rethink this 'trying to be polite' thing. Your way seems like so much more fun.

I'll get squawked at and downvoted for it too, never fear. I just think we need to call a spade a spade in this particular discussion. Not everybody is cut out for the same things. It's really, really okay to treat different people with different skills...differently.

I'm curious -- if we're not supposed to use track record/experience with a player as our basis of judgment, what are we supposed to use? The objections to nepotism don't seem to explain that.

    • RE: Website/wiki/hosting/etc

I do not believe there is a free, ad-free site out there where you can put up a website of any sort. These things cost money to run and host, so what you're essentially asking for is for someone to pay money to host a site for your game.

Your best bet in this case is to see if you have any friends that host that are willing to do you the favor.
