I am no longer allowed to intentionally message my boss to make her laugh while she is in another meeting.
Reminds me of that list, the "Scrappy is no longer allowed to..." or whatever it was. >.>

I like plans. Planning. Especially this sort of thing, where you have a clearly defined framework to work within. I get objectives, what resources are available, and access to knowledgeable experts. I have to turn that into something people can execute to meet the objectives. I find it very interesting.
eta: With COVID it's not as immediate as it would be for a wildfire, but it's going to give me experience I need to be more successful in the case of a wildfire or earthquake or whatever.
So the FEMA training I was doing this week was (I thought) above my paygrade, but I was taking it to be able to support our current team. It looks like ACTUALLY, I am going to get a new assignment in relation to the COVID crisis. I'm pretty excited. Emergency management is definitely something I'm starting to really get nerdy about, the more I get into it. They are gonna let me make PLANS, guys.
โSomething ought to be that wayโ implies that you think that it ought to be that way. Itโs not weird to read it like that.
okay this is the last post for a while.
It's okay, my post totally wasn't clear about it. We were talking about all three and then I stopped to make a comparison between two of the three things. Presuming I also included the third unspoken is not a bad take.
lol thus why I completely left DA:I out of the comparison. DA:I is to date my favorite game's combat.
I honestly really preferred the more active combat style of DA2 over Origins, except that there just wasn't enough of it. I could've dealt with about twice as many encounters and been pretty happy.
MageHawke and Fenris-friend (instead of Fenris-rival) story is really, really good. By the end he's laughing, cracking jokes with Varric, and so on. I understand why you might not personally enjoy it, but I feel no shame for your disgust.
Having played it, I understand why people who game for different reasons to me would hate it, but it's my favorite. ALSO, the personality thing (where your verbal voice acted lines change based on the personality choices you make in the dialogue long term) and the friend/rival system were REALLY really really well done and I wish we would see a return to that for the next one.
@Derp
Uh. It's pretty well explained in game. Nothing was confusing or weird. It told you exactly what was going on.
eta: to be fair, I read codex entries? but yeah, there was zero confusion. "mages revolted, templars reacted, war broke out" is pretty easy to follow. Everything relevant to the narrative is visible from square 1.
So I played Origins when it hit, skipped DA2 because I wasn't doing video games at the time it released, then played DA:I really heavily. I went back and played DA2 just within the last couple of months, and I am so, so, so, /so/ sad that it took me that long to play it. With everything I'd read I was ready to be underwhelmed but I feel like a- the story was REALLY good and made up for it being pretty light on combat, and b- it is REALLY really good at adding depth to DA:I. Like DA:I was the perfect game for me even without playing it, but playing it again AFTER Kirkwall added eleventy billion more layers to the shit that was going on.
Also, Fenris > all.
(I had to put this here because I don't want to derail the other thread yet again)
FEMA training is usually like, awful. Awful and boring. I'm doing a class right now that absolutely is NOT either of those things, but it is completely consuming my entire brain, leaving pretty much nothing at all for the rest of my job or life. Whole freaking week of this.
Ok, good to hear. I really hope it holds on for you, the ideal outcome there is great.
tooth infections can be lethal. I know you don't have the money to go to the dentist, but if you start running a fever, please go to the ER. I know it's a financially bad idea, I know that it's panic-inducing, I know it's hard, but please please don't take too many chances.
Echoing what other folks have said, but my first thought, too? "Only a grade behind? seriously? you're doing SO GOOD" -- from what I'm hearing (anecdotal only) from People, there are a lot of children that are essentially going fully feral right now. Your kiddos are doing well enough that you were actually like, capable of testing them? I'm impressed! Another teacher friend had a similar complaint about their testing of kids except hers was "I can't even get them to do it!!!"
eta: which isn't meant to imply that you don't have a reason to be stressed. of course you do, and it's very reasonable, but it is LIKELY that you are being way worse on yourself than the situation calls for.
Tim's Cascade chips has a flavor called "Sasquatch Surprise". If you can get it, and like the brand, they are the absolute tastiest chip I have ever put in my mouth. It's also pretty much impossible to describe, it's like vinegar and oil and bbq and honey.
Yeah, that would be great. We see it so often because those people tend to have the free time to devote.

The amount of time, energy, and bullshit involved with running a game is astronomical. The number of hours you have to put in all week every week is ridiculous. If you have time for a full time job at the same time, you've given up getting a full night's sleep most nights (weekends are great). You spend precious "free time" hours mediating interpersonal drama between strangers on the internet. WHO DOES THIS FOR FUN?
yeah. Game runners are awesome, but you gotta have something. Or be superhuman, I do still know two superhumans that run games.
Any mush not run by a crazy person would be great.
You have to be a crazy person to run a mush. It just--you have to be, to a certain extent. Not BAD crazy necessarily, but like--it is not a job for muggles.
I hadn't seen/heard about it then. I would play it now.
Buffy. Sigh.
If I ever run a game again (hahaha no) it will be Dragon Age. Because thatโs what I want to play.
I'm really glad to hear it. I'm sorry you're sick, but I am so glad it's mild. Please remain OK. Thank you.
