I almost always prefer two alts: I play my heavy hitter political PC, and then I play a second character for when I feel like playing but do not want the weight of the 'main'. It's why I tend to advocate for two-alt policies. For a FC game, or a super pvp focused political game like RfK was, one alt is absolutely appropriate and should be the baseline, I agree. I was just trying to squawk about 'can we not go down the road of saying serial alters are bad players' because they aren't.

RE: FCs on Comic MUs
@ganymede I agree with your premise; it was not the suggestion of this sort of game being one alt only that I was objecting to. I think for a FC game, or for any number of other games, one alt is absolutely the best policy. In each of those cases though, it's for the purposes of getting a particular desired result, rather than 'people who play multiple characters are bad', which this discussion started down the road on. There is absolutely no reason that someone playing characters across several games should even be mentioned relating to this discussion, because it's irrelevant, but there's folks shaming over it.

RE: FCs on Comic MUs
Oh ffs. Are we going to be presenting 'people should only have 1 alt' as 'the proper way to play' versus 'if you have multiple characters you're bad at this'? Ugh ugh ugh. Come on, people. There are plenty of valid reasons for people to want more than one PC.
Setting the policy to 1 does accomplish things and it's not a bad policy choice if those things are what you desire. The things it accomplishes are not end-all be-all superior to other modes of play.
There are reasons people do it differently.

RE: Transfer of MSB tonight: 7:30 EST
@arkandel For me there was a little eye beside the name that if you clicked, the person's posts showed up as a greyed out line saying they were on ignore. So you could see they posted, but not what they said.

RE: RL things I love
Emailed professor to apologize in advance for missing class tonight. Prof responds, gives me an extra day for homework turn in (what a nice guy).
Get homework turned in on time anyway. WHOO.

RE: New MUSH 'Game' Mechanics
How about something for pre-approved PRPs? Like, if you run just a pick up scene or whatnot, it goes in the 'regular' pool. But like, allow for official GM points to be gained if either A- staff run as part of staff duties, or B- Pre-approved and meeting X and Y criteria. It's a little staff overhead, but a summary of a PRP (keep what you want short!) is way easier to review than a log is, and doing it this way keeps PRPs relevant.
ETA: Bonus, it encourages people to submit writeups WITHOUT requiring them.
ETA2: All the words are important.

I'm gonna step out of this conversation and not deal with you. Cheers.
Emphasis mine. I noticed, too.

Uh huh. And this was used as 'X takes point'.

RE: What even is 'Metaplot'?
A metaplot is a game story arc that happens in the background and ties most (not all, but most) of the rest of the plots together. It is what is used to generate plots, not the plots themselves.
