Same. I actually use a website spreadsheet that I can access from both work and home for that very reason. I think Google has a solution, though I use smartsheet and highly recommend it if you are a heavy spreadsheet user and you don't mind paying an MMO subscription cost to it every month. ^^

I play with like 2-3 people I have played with elsewhere (that I know of) and a WHOLE BUNCH of new to me people. It has been pretty amazing. I have not had any problems at all getting right in the middle of a whole lot of plot stuff, and I'm not even at the two week mark. I have to keep a spreadsheet to make sure I'm getting everything done I need to. This is not a complaint (nor something I see people not me needing).
Part of my success is how I play, approach things, and reach out to people. I have little concern about figuratively cold calling folks. But I would not have managed as well if the character (that came off the roster) had not been built into stuff. I STRONGLY recommend a roster noble for folks who need a boost in terms of getting involved. It is SUPER helpful.
Anyone is more than welcome to tag me here or on game for help getting into things. I will find a reason and do everything I can to hook folks in as long as I don't have to fight against you to get you in (oh, no, my character needs to be begged to help, f'rex). I play Belladonna.

I don't know that people are criticizing people that they feel are making honest apologies. I think the whole point of it is that the apologies being discussed in context are the not-honest ones, which is kind of the whole point of the side conversation.

Yeah, my commentary was more to point out that they didn't seem to be using it as a people-tracker and providing what I thought it was generally used for in that 'you're right, it's not good for that, but this is what it's good for' blah blah.
There might be easy workarounds, but 'apply for character off roster as guest, get e-mail with password sent to you so you don't have to wait on the game' really isn't a bad system. It seems reasonable enough to me.
From what I have seen, I think it's related to the fact that they use a roster, and that you request a roster character as a guest, rather than creating a character from the login screen just to be given a mailbox and another character. Don't know! That's just what I suspect based on what I have seen.

Yeah. Forewarned is forearmed. I've personally never had issues with him on the games we've been on at the same time, but none of them were the places that went up in flames, either. Either his usual MO may not have worked, the conditions weren't right for him to destroy, or whatever? I don't know. I think with a reputation this extensive it's absolutely worth being mindful, but with my personal experience being in opposition to what a lot of folks say, and considering that many of the folks that say these things are folks I have had problems with...well. I'll be mindful, be aware -- as I always am, with this guy and a couple of other purported bad actors -- and that's that. I couldn't advocate tossing him off of a game, and honestly hope staff on Arx don't go there.
At the same time, there are many, many people who could say the above about Spider. I'm well aware of it, and it's why I lend the weight to this that I do rather than dismissing it out of hand.
(ETA: Then again, the games I have supposedly been on with him in the past, I am not 110% sure it was him and not one of the false flags, so that could also be the reason I didn't have problems with him. Because it wasn't him. ^^)
