RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
Today sucks.
The remainder of the week promises to suck.
The week after is lookin' worse with packing chaos and the endless arguments that are only resolved by me doing all the packing while the husband is out of the house.I am the youngest person in the group of people I am dealing with, and I am still the designated adult, because no one else can be bothered to behave like one for a hot second. All of them will come bitching and whining to me about the others, or prattling on at truly extreme length -- yes, long-winded lass is typing that with a straight 'no bullshit, people' face -- about shit that literally no one on earth could give the very first fuck about if someone paid them to do it.
None of these people take 'fuck off' hints, and actually telling them to fuck off instantly triggers the sort of explosive melodrama that would put a telenovela to shame.
This state of affairs will persist until mid-December.
A fair chunk of this is... supposed to be my vacation.

RE: SWF LF Non-WoD MU
@blondebot HorrorMU is starting up a western storyline tomorrow.
http://horrormu.com/index.php/Main_Page
Each storyline is short-term -- usually about two months -- so it's not a Western theme forever, but the game is consistently great and the folks there are kick-ass. Simple, easy to learn system, good array of roles open at the moment.

RE: RL things I love
@ganymede DuPont has a similar thing. (It may be the same tech under a different name.)
Husband screeched and whined about how we didn't need them, despite me using two skillets a day when I was on the die+t, and how they aren't dishwasher friendly so I had just blown a pile o' cash on something 'useless'.
...he failed to see the irony in any of this, as the damn things clean in half a bloody second in the sink. He can have all the dishwasher he wants.

RE: Good TV
So I binged the entire third season of The Man in the High Castle yesterday. (Look, it was my first day of vacation. I wanted to spend it in leggings, eating garbage and watching TV with my
dogflurfcat. Don't you fucking judge me.)^ This is my tomorrow, slightly edited. Er, today. Later today, once I've had coffee.

RE: RL Anger
@ganymede Silly Gany, don't you know you're not allowed to know more than someone with a penis?
We just don't have the equipment to understand complicated things like just really liking beer, or working out with your bros, let alone the super-dong-required rocket science territories of law or politics.

RE: RL Anger
Just seeing how often the reply-@ is flying here, and in what context... holy shit, thank you, 'block' function.

RE: Good TV
PS -- Who else is SUPER EXCITED about The Man in the High Castle dropping tomorrow?
So. Much. Yes.
SO GOOD. Thank you for reminding me of that, as there are gonna be a lot of weird downtimey hours over the weekend that need filling exactly that way.

RE: RL Anger
Dr. Ford's coming forward and telling a national audience about her trauma 'inspired' a slimeball who assaulted me to post about how you just don't force yourself on a woman who says stop. That was the tipping point. I called him out on Facebook, tagged him and just let people know. He's a professor at a local college, so he came to me all apologetic, ...and then changed his name on FB to a nickname to hide himself from his work entanglements. He confessed with of course the favorite male caveat 'That's not how I remember it", and then came to me to try and manipulate me into silence. "Do you think I should lose my job over this?" "Do I need to get a lawyer?" "The more my name comes up in connection with this incident, the more likely I could lose my job. That's not your problem, per se, but it will have an impact." ... Which is all classic guilt the victim abuser crap 101. And then he wondered why I got angry. I'm still angry. I don't know how to NOT be angry about it. Part of me thinks I should send the screenshots to the college, let them decide. Part of me, the victim in me, doesn't think it should go that far. Which just winds me back up at anger.
If you are up to dealing with the... well, we all know what happens when people report, do. Please report. The college should know.

RE: RL Anger
All the Kavanaugh discourse on FB/at work/with family has rendered me really emotionally exhausted because I feel compelled to argue about it.
We may disagree on a lot, but as someone who has also been through some profound ugliness... take a break from facebook. Trust me on this one. Doing that for the past series of political clusterfucks has absolutely helped. It doesn't solve everything, but I swear, it has absolutely helped.
(Whenever someone links me something from there, just one glance at my feed has me running like hell screaming NOPE NOPE NOPE until someone links some funny comic or whatnot directly again.)

RE: Critters!
@wretched The sheer number of goth geek points in this pic alone is worth an upvote, and kitty's worth another. (Somebody add another one for me 'cause I can only do one!)
The cutest bit about that to me is that her paw is on the moth, like she's tryin' to catch it right off the cover. I mean OMG THE D'AWW!!!

As a quick heads-up, new link: http://horrormu.com/index.php/Story:Prosperitys_Price
...wiki hates apostrophes, apparently. But wanted to make sure this was here so the new folks could find it as info fills in more.

RE: How to: make your poses less repetitive
@roz I'm fine with them if it's a secondary reference or necessary distinguishing clarification; repeating the name multiple times or drowning in a sea of he/she/they gets to be a different sort of repetitive, and sometimes confusing in scenes where one she is doing something to indicate another she, etc.
Ex: Sarah didn't want Sue to go. She knew she was leaving, but she wanted to make sure she had all her supplies before she went. vs. Sarah didn't want Sue to go. She knew she was leaving, but the attentive teacher wanted to ensure her student had all her supplies before she went.
One's a bit clearer than the other for the fast-paced reaction time required in RP, and avoids getting lost in the pronoun weeds.

RE: How to: make your poses less repetitive
@thesuntsar I wish I could tell you. I still can't manage to type the word 'thigh' without having to correct it from 'thight' every single time and I've been doing this since 1996.

RE: What RPG SYSTEM do you want to play on a Mu*?
What I'm essentially saying is that I'd really like to see something like GURPS -- not the actually system, but the concept of the system -- designed for MUX.
Scaleable.
Modular.
Adaptable to various eras and settings and universes with unique abilities or systems or whatnots that people can add for their world as needed.People can and should design their own worlds and settings. Even with source material -- be it an existing game system or other inspiration -- we end up doing this anyway.

@ganymede said in What RPG SYSTEM do you want to play on a Mu*?:
@surreality said in What RPG SYSTEM do you want to play on a Mu*?:
The answer you probably know I'm going to give you, Theno: one designed explicitly for MU and not tabletop.
Honestly, the dream has been to code in a hack for World of Darkness' lines. And, honestly, FS3 is what I've been eye-balling.
This is more or less the antithesis of my dream.
Sooner or later, someone's going to get litigious or bitchy about the amount of content replicated on games or wikis.
People have to acquire books and learn a truly staggering number of nebulously worded mechanics that can be interpreted by reasonable people in a variety of ways and house-rule the hell out of a great many things to clarify, let alone adapt.
I love the concept, the setting is great, but it's designed for tabletop, and the problems that arise when not in a tabletop setting are far too significant for me to want anything to do with WoD games these days, unless they are tabletop games (or small online tabletop games on roll20 or similar).

RE: What RPG SYSTEM do you want to play on a Mu*?
The answer you probably know I'm going to give you, Theno: one designed explicitly for MU and not tabletop.
The conditions at a table and on a MU have enough significant and impactful differences that, over time, this has become increasingly obvious as one of the main issues for games based on an existing tabletop system.
Additionally, it means all documentation for the game can be made available on the game itself or its wiki or ideally both, without any concerns about copyright or nastygrams from game companies, etc.
