Looks like it is dying 5 steps away from me.

RE: New Shadows over Reno?
I'm on Xfinity. Let me try to run a traceroute.

RE: New Shadows over Reno?
No, I'm on DuckClient. Which can be fickle, but usually due to resizing the window.

RE: New Shadows over Reno?
Hrm. The reno.kydance.net 2018 isn't working for me.

RE: Descent Reboot
After a bunch of people were asking about werewolf, we took a poll. About 2/3's of the grid wanted it in early. Sooo we're adding it. CGen is open for bug checking and prebuilding. If you roll a pc into being a wolf in the first the sphere is open (not open /yet/), you'll carry your full xp over to the new wolf. It'll open officially as soon as the wiki and theme is updated.

RE: Descent Reboot
Sooo, with two praxes gearing up for war and intrigue, I could really use a staffer that'd be dedicated to pushing the intrigue and politics side of things. This is a thing I suck at. And I know I suck at it. I'm like a big hammer in a china shop, hunting for nails and it's just no good XD If you play there, or have interest in something like that where you can politic and not have be /in/ the politics, pop by anddrop us a line.
Thanks!

RE: World of Darkness -- Alternative Settings
Mozart also, iirc, living there or near there, so they had an advantage in helping to build a culture around their experiences in Vienna. Which was neat. Until, as Theno said, it changed hands and become 'generic place by night with funny accents'.

RE: Activity and Aid
My problem was just being U.S. time and never finding folks on. Usually 2-3 logged in, always a staffer on, but very rarely anyone active or about.

RE: Descent Reboot
Quick update:
We've got 7-8 pc's approved and on-grid. Started running some flavor scenes to build towards a couple different plot angles. Some +plots posted for each of the two praxes and their different approaches and some overlap.
Still a bit of tweaking to do and growing, but not as many bugs as I expected to find, just a couple of weird quirks that don't actually seem to be unworkable. They'll get hammered out as we go.
So far, so good!

RE: Descent Reboot
Alrighty! It ain't pretty, but it's done! So that means it's soft open time!
Theme and Setting information: http://thedescentmux.com/index.php/Setting
West Praxis: http://thedescentmux.com/index.php/West_Praxis
East Praxis: http://thedescentmux.com/index.php/East_PraxisThe wiki, I figure, will grow organically as things start to happen (plus, I'm still at a loss for what it needs, so I think of new things to add here and there as I go).
We'll wait a couple of weeks before we get the territory system going, in-game. This will give folks a chance to get settled into the theme and have a few scenes before adding in the mini-game for play-testing. Trying to avoid overwhelming with too many differences until we've had a chance to find a rhythm.
Suggestions are always welcome!

RE: World of Darkness -- Alternative Settings
2e fixes some of that by allowing for multi-template packs. Yeah, you CAN still hole up, BUT there's reasons to go and rp with other folks from different areas of the game, too.

RE: World of Darkness -- Alternative Settings
I can totally understand why @Ganymede and her friends want to keep it simple. We went from 'Yeah, we'll totally add wolf!' to, 'Man, how do we integrate the into the territory system without pooching the screw?', so now it's a maybe that hinges a lot on what the players want, and if we have the staff to properly support it. It's hard to balance it, even when you don't really care about 'balance' - that way leads to a maze of HR's and an impossible task that can't be won XD

RE: Descent Reboot
So, it looks like we'll be able to process apps in the next 2-3 days (maybe sooner). There's a couple things I want to get written up for the wiki today (Vamp theme file, and one for each of the Praxes, and maybe start on building the wiki pages for the Princes), and some minor equipment adjusting in the eq system. There are likely to be a couple more bugs to be found, but @Thenomain has been amazing at squashing them.

RE: Descent Reboot
Moar update! Theno's given me the go-ahead to start letting folks come and do some cgen. I still have a couple of places to desc (like 5 rooms) and there's equipment being updated, maps being made etc. BUT! If you want to come down, talk some shop, work on concepts while we work on these final few things, please join us! I'd love to help some folks get concepts sorted and built and talk some theme and ideas and see if the code dies.
thedescentmux.com for the wiki and login info!
ETA: Not tonight, though, I'm heading to bed >.> But tomorrow!

RE: Charging for MU* Code?
@Thenomain - That's why I suggested google wallet. Not just that they don't charge a percentage or fee, but that PayPal is known, but now there are other options :3 It's easy to set up and painless to use. It all runs off one of your emails, so you send to someone using their email addy, much like Paypal does.

RE: Charging for MU* Code?
Paypal might be the easiest - seems the thing most people would be familiar with. If you like -simple-, Google Wallet goes off of email as well and deposits to your bank within seconds, so it's all right at hand immediately.

RE: Charging for MU* Code?
I... maybe just totally had this mental image of Theno as the hottest girl in the strip club with all us MU*ers waving ones at him. It was glorious.
My crazy brain aside, I think that alot of the changing expectations can be managed (somewhat, with the rare and elusive 'reasonable person') just by communicating. 'Hey, this is being a pain in the butt and will take a bit longer.' or 'Wow, that wetn easier than expected.'
Something else to consider might be just setting up a paypal with an 'ish' of the sort of tip you would like to see. Some folks can pay more, some maybe less, but it'd be cool, cause I bet there's a LOT of folks that have benefited from the ThenoCode that'd toss a fiver in the pot, even if they aren't running a game - just because he's one of a handful of coders that have done a lot for us as a hobby in general.

RE: Charging for MU* Code?
Makes sense! I've already had thoughts of 'I should give him cookies or a gift card or something', cause I know you've blown a fair bit of the last couple weeks on tdm. And I wouldn't have any problem paying for, say, the territory code that I /want/ but don't have to have.
There's definitely a balance between hobby, work, free time, and finding ways to make it all work that I can definitely appreciate.
